Kia Optima Hybrid 2018

Perfect car! Comfortable, clean, and superior gas mileage! It was relatively easy and simple to pickup the car after landing at the SeaTac airport. All I had to do was take the Link Rail from the airport to the car's location. Clear directions, she even sent us a pic of where it was parked! Everything went smoothly. :) ~~~ Here are some highlights from my personal experience with the Kia Optima Hybrid: Pros: - Looks exactly like pictures, super super clean outside AND inside! Probably the cleanest Turo I've ever rented and that's saying a lot because it's a white car and probably hard to keep this clean! - Clear directions of the whole plan to get the car. Sent a photo of where it was parked closer to the time of arrival, so it was easy to find. - Compared to other cars, actually good legroom in the backseat! Which is partially why I got it, so my sisters could continue getting dressed on the way to our event if needed. - Sunroof was cool! No explanation needed! :) - Crazy good gas mileage because it's a hybrid! We drove to Ashford, WA and back for my best friend's Wedding (~160mi total) and it only used 1/4th of the tank and it only costed $27 to refill it! :D Cons: - A/C wasn't cold. Don't know if it's user error because I'm not used to driving a hybrid/modern car or what, but we tried everything we could and couldn't get it to blow cold air. It blew some air, but it was mostly warm. Luckily it wasn't too hot but there were a few times where I had to take off my shirt on the drive back because I was so hot. So not recommended for a hot summer day where you really need the A/C, but otherwise a really great car! Potentially the car just needs to be touched up with a bit of refrigerant/coolant! :) This should be an easy fix but just mentioning because it wasn't cold for my specific trip. - Scary getting the key from the lockbox in the back of the trunk. This is mostly my own personal gripe, because I startle at loud sounds. Getting the key from the trunk at the start of the trip, sucked for me because as I opened the trunk it started beeping really loudly as if I was stealing the car. I wish I had at least known to expect that. Getting the key would have been fine and easy, if I could have found the lockbox earlier. Unfortunately for me, the lockbox was black in a black trunk, so it took me a bit to find it, and so it continued to beep for a long time while I found where it was. But the process was pretty simple once I knew where the lockbox was, so maybe it's just user error again on my part. [I actually just rechecked the message with instructions for the lockbox, and it actually does say it's on the trunk lid, so I guess I just missed that word when looking at it. I think I got stressed when the car alarm went off and it made it harder for me to focus and read the instructions more clearly. Anyways that part is my bad. I still wish I had known it was going to beep in advance until I got the keys though!] - Car was a bit...slippery? Not a big deal, but my sisters told me that the car was very slippery and almost fell a couple times getting out of it. I also felt the same but thought I was imagining it or making a bigger deal than it actually was, until they mentioned it too. Just something to note about the car. :) ~~~ Overall, I loved our rental and would absolutely rent it again in the future if ever possible. Thank you so much Larisa for making our trip to Victoria's Wedding spectacular!!! :D

First-Time Turo Renter – Game Changer! This was my first time using Turo, and I’m genuinely impressed. I fly into Seattle at least once a month and typically go through traditional car rental companies—but this time, I decided to try something different. I rented a BMW through Turo, and it completely changed the experience for me. The host was excellent—very communicative, patient, and walked me through the process since I was new to the platform. The car itself was in great shape, clean, and drove perfectly. What stood out most was how smooth everything was. No long lines, no upselling, and no wasted time at a rental counter. The check-in and check-out process was quick and easy, and I was on my way in no time. Highly recommend this for anyone tired of the traditional rental runaround. I’ll definitely be booking again!

How can guests prepare for driving in heavy rain conditions common in the Renton area?

Preparing for Renton's frequent heavy rain is crucial for safe driving. Ensure your rental car has good tread on its tires and functioning windshield wipers. Familiarize yourself with the car's controls, especially the headlights and defrosting system. When driving, reduce your speed and increase following distance to allow for longer stopping times. Use your headlights to improve visibility, and avoid using cruise control on wet roads. Be cautious of hydroplaning, particularly on highways. If possible, choose a vehicle with advanced safety features like traction control. Remember, Renton's weather can change quickly, so always check the forecast before setting out and be prepared to adjust your plans if conditions worsen.

Where can one find convenient parking facilities in downtown Renton?

Downtown Renton offers various convenient parking options for visitors. The Renton Transit Center Garage provides ample space and is centrally located. Consider using alternative routes, such as surface streets or less congested corridors. Utilize real-time traffic apps to stay informed about current conditions and potential delays. If feasible, adjust your schedule to travel outside peak times. When renting a car, opt for one with good fuel efficiency to reduce costs during potential idle times. Remember that areas near The Landing shopping center and Boeing's Renton Factory can experience increased congestion. By planning ahead and staying flexible with your route and timing, you can minimize the impact of traffic on your Renton visit.

Are there any notable toll roads or bridges to be aware of when driving near Renton?

While driving near Renton, be aware of several toll roads and bridges in the greater Seattle area. The SR 520 Bridge, connecting Seattle to Bellevue across Lake Washington, is a notable toll route. Another is the SR 99 Tunnel running under downtown Seattle. These tolls are collected electronically, so there's no need to stop. If your rental car doesn't come with a pass, tolls will typically be billed to you later. The I-405 Express Toll Lanes between Bellevue and Lynnwood also charge variable rates based on traffic conditions. When planning your routes, consider these toll facilities and factor them into your travel budget. Always check current toll rates before your trip, as they can vary based on time of day and traffic volume.

Navigating Renton's city streets differs significantly from driving on nearby rural backroads. In Renton, you'll encounter more traffic lights, one-way streets, and pedestrian crossings, requiring heightened attention to traffic flow and signage. City driving often involves lower speed limits and more frequent stops. In contrast, rural backroads around Renton may have higher speed limits but require caution due to potential wildlife crossings, limited lighting, and varying road conditions. These roads might be narrower and have fewer clear lane markings. When renting a car, consider one that's comfortable in both settings. A compact car works well for city maneuvers, while an SUV might be better suited for rural excursions. Always adjust your driving style to match the environment for a safe and enjoyable experience.

How can guests find reliable gas stations when driving around Renton and Washington state?

Finding reliable gas stations in Renton and throughout Washington is generally straightforward. In Renton, you'll find several well-known chains along major roads like Sunset Boulevard and Rainier Avenue. When venturing outside the city, plan your refueling stops in advance, especially for longer trips. Use smartphone apps or your car's navigation system to locate gas stations along your route. In more rural areas of Washington, gas stations might be less frequent, so it's wise to refuel when your tank is half empty. Consider renting a fuel-efficient car to extend the distance between fill-ups. Remember that some remote areas might have limited operating hours, so check in advance if you're planning a late-night or early morning drive. Always keep your rental car's fuel requirements in mind when selecting a gas station.
