Car rental in Nashville opens the city up in ways a map can’t quite explain. From the moment you land near Nashville International Airport, a rental car gives you room to move without rushing, rerouting, or waiting. That freedom matters in Music City, where neighborhoods stretch beyond a short walk and plans change quickly, especially for first time visitors trying to make the most of every hour.

Outside downtown Nashville, the pace shifts. Landmarks like the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum sit alongside studios, venues, and pockets of the city shaped by country music, music festivals, and a quietly rich history. Driving lets you linger when something pulls you in and move on when it doesn’t. On Turo, you choose the car and the timing, making it easier to save time and experience Nashville on your own terms.

The car was in excellent condition and looked almost brand new. The pickup process was very simple and smooth, making the entire experience stress-free. The car was comfortable to drive, fuel-efficient, and performed great throughout our trip. The price was also very reasonable, which made the rental an even better value. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. Definitely deserves 5 stars, and I would happily rent from this host again!

This was our first time using Turo, and it was such a great experience! We rented a Toyota Corolla during our trip to Tennessee, and the entire process was incredibly easy from start to finish. Juan and Daniela were extremely helpful, friendly, and responsive throughout the rental. They made everything simple and stress-free, especially since we were new to the app. The car was clean, reliable, and exactly as described. We would absolutely rent from them again and highly recommend both Juan and Daniela to anyone looking for a smooth and hassle-free rental experience. Thank you for making our trip even better!

Toyota Corolla Hatchback 2021

We rented from Beck a 2021 Corolla for two weeks. The car ran very well without any problem. We did have a flat tire, luckily in an office parking lot, and Beck promptly agreed to replace the tire. As we were able to conclude a deal on a brand new car, we decided to return the rental car earlier with the consent of Beck. The whole process was quite smooth particularly for someone like me who never had any dealing with Turo before. Both Beck and his older brother who run a used car dealership are easy to communicate with, the replies were clear and prompt. Most likely we shall rent from them in the future when a need arises.

Wonderful! Easy to use. This host in particular is very nice and understanding. They worked with me when I became ill and could not return the vehicle at the designated time. Well worth using instead of the traditional car rental companies.

I went on my first trip to Nashville for a special camp with my daughter and I needed a reliable vehicle to drive back and forth to camp each day. I had the car delivered and picked up from our hotel. The whole process was easy for my first Turo rental and the car drove great. I would definitely rent again!

Toyota Corolla 2024

This car made me want a new car myself. It drove wonderfully and it was very clean. The host was accommodating to the fact I needed a child seat, and the fact it was my first time using Turo so I had extra questions. One thing though, I got terrified because there was a tiny crack in the windshield and that wasn’t disclosed (I understand why) but after about 20 minutes into my trip I had to review my pictures I took initially to see if it was there before because I was worried it was from me. I saw in the photos where you could see it, and made sure to let the host know incase they didn’t, but they did confirm they did know and had already worked on filling it. It didn’t affect our trip, the drive, the view… anything! The car is still one I would rent again because even with that it’s perfect, but if I can save anyone the panic I felt I want to. 10/10 would absolutely rent again!

Top tips for renting a car in Nashville

A little local know-how goes a long way here in Nashville. These tips are designed to help you plan smarter, drive with confidence, and get the most out of your time behind the wheel.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Nashville?

Traffic patterns in Nashville follow a familiar rhythm, with rush hour peaking between 7:00–9:00 AM and 4:00–6:00 PM, especially along I-24, I-40, and I-65 as commuters funnel in and out of the city. Broadway and the streets near downtown can slow significantly in the evenings when events and shows let out.

Speed limits generally sit around 25–30 mph on residential streets, increase to 40–45 mph on larger arterials, and reach 70 mph on surrounding interstates. Tennessee law requires full stops at red lights before turning right, and school zones are strictly enforced during posted hours, with reduced speeds and active monitoring.

Seasonally, summers bring heat that can soften asphalt and intensify glare, while winter storms occasionally dust the roads with ice rather than snow. Extra caution helps when driving near entertainment districts like Music Row, where rideshare traffic, pedestrians, and late-night live music crowds are part of the experience in a place shaped by country music and constant movement.

What is parking like in Nashville?

Parking is generally straightforward, with garages scattered throughout popular Nashville locations such as The Gulch, SoBro, and Midtown. Locals often recommend using structured garages near Broadway or Fifth + Broadway, which tend to turn over frequently and are easier to navigate than street parking during busy periods.

Outside the core, neighborhoods offer more relaxed options, including smaller lots and budget locations that keep things simple if you’re heading out for the day. Many drivers appreciate returning to a clean car without circling endlessly, especially after long evenings out.

Are there toll roads in Nashville?

There are currently no toll roads within Nashville or across the state of Tennessee, making it easy to plan routes without additional considerations.

Are there gas stations and EV chargers in Nashville?

Gas stations are easy to find along main corridors like West End Avenue, Charlotte Pike, and Gallatin Pike, often clustered near popular food spots serving Nashville hot chicken and classic fried chicken. It’s common to refuel before heading back toward central neighborhoods after dinner or a show.

For electric vehicles, charging stations are well distributed at downtown garages, shopping centers, and near parks that highlight the area’s natural beauty. Nashville continues to expand its charging network, making EV travel practical for both short hops and longer scenic drives.

Do I need to rent a car in Nashville?

A Nashville rental car opens up the city far beyond Broadway, giving you freedom to explore neighborhoods, parks, and nearby towns on your own schedule. From arriving at Nashville Airport to setting off toward Franklin or Leipers Fork, having your own wheels creates easy access to places that aren’t always easily accessible by public transportation. On Turo, flexibility and choice come together, making it simple to shape your trip from the moment you leave the airport.

On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.
