I had a really great experience with this car rental service , it was kinda smooth from start to finish. The vehicle was clean, well-maintained , and honestly super comfortable to drive. The whole rental process felt quick and easy, no hassle, and the host were friendly professional and helpful the entire time. The car itself performed perfectly during my trip, so the drive was steady and really enjoyable , like a calm ride. The pricing seemed fair, especially for the quality of service they provided. I’m honestly very satisfied and I would use them again later on. Highly recommended !

Top tips for renting a car in Orlando

Ready to hit the road? Here's what to know before leaving Orlando International Airport in your rental car, including top tips for navigating parking, toll roads, and Florida laws around driving.

How does airport pickup work at Orlando Airport?

Before you set off on your trip, use the Turo app to confirm details like your collection time and pick parking garage. Then, once you've landed in sunny Florida, picking up your rental car at Orlando International Airport is a breeze. Simply head to the arranged location, grab the keys, and exit the parking lot safely using the sticker or transponder pre-installed in the vehicle. Remember, curbside collection is not permitted at MCO.

How does drop-off work at Orlando Airport?

Between theme parks and city attractions, take a moment to confirm the drop-off location for your rental car using the Turo app. When it's time to say goodbye, return to the airport in the vehicle, enter the agreed-upon parking garage using your sticker or transponder, and park the car. Leave the keys in a secure dropbox or meet in person for a handover, and you're ready to fly.

How far is MCO from downtown Orlando?

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is approximately 20-30 minutes from the city's central business district by car, depending on traffic and which route you take. It's also a 20-30 minute drive from the airport to both Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World, which are situated south-west of the downtown Orlando area.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Orlando?

Before you put foot to pedal in Orlando, it's helpful to understand Florida’s driving conditions and road rules. Like the rest of the U.S., driving in Florida means sticking to the right-hand side of the road, always wearing a seatbelt, adhering to speed limits, and observing road signage. And remember to always have a valid driver's license on you.

Handheld phone use is restricted in school and work zones only, but hands-free operation is recommended at all times as a safety precaution. In Orlando, you can make a right turn at a red light if it’s safe to do so and there is no signage prohibiting it. Another law to note is the Full Stop Rule, which mandates drivers must completely stop until pedestrians have vacated the street, rather than just slowing or safely yielding.

Speed limits in the area tend to sit around 30 miles per hour (mph) in residential areas, 35 to 45 mph on city streets, and 55 to 70 mph on highways like the I-4, Florida’s Turnpike, and SR 417. Traffic across Orlando is unpredictable due to the sheer volume of visitors regardless of season — you’ll note congestion builds up around theme parks and International Drive, becoming even more noticeable during peak hours, weekends, and on holidays.

What is parking like in Orlando?

Parking in Orlando shouldn’t pose too much of an issue, especially if you’re used to navigating spots in more concentrated metro areas. Major attractions like the big theme parks offer large and well-organized parking facilities, including garages and surface lots at places like Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk. In the downtown area, you’ll find a handful of convenient parking garages, including the 37 East Washington Street Garage, the Thornton Park Central Garage (9 N Eola Drive), and the Library Garage (112 E Central Boulevard). Metered and unmetered street parking is available in some parts of the city center, and much more freely in Orlando’s suburbs — just be sure to check for signage regarding restrictions and time limits.

Are there toll roads in Orlando?

There are several notable toll roads in and around Orlando, Florida. Major routes that run through the city and its surrounds include the Beachline Expressway (SR 528), the East-West Expressway (SR 408), the Western Beltway (SR 429), the Central Florida GreeneWay (SR 417), and Florida's Turnpike (SR 91). Most toll roads in the Orlando area are now cashless, requiring drivers to have a SunPass or E-ZPass or use the TOLL-BY-PLATE system. Before you drive, use a navigation app to check if the route you're taking has tolls — and use the Turo app to confirm who will pay for them and how, whether it's via a pre-installed transponder or pay by plate after the fact.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers in Orlando?

As a sprawling, tourist-driven city, it's easy to find both gas stations and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout Orlando, whether you're staying downtown or at one of the city's many theme park resorts. To quickly fuel up your rental car near downtown, try the bp at 520 S Orange Blossom Trail, the Chevron at 901 S Orange Avenue, or the 7-Eleven Fuel at 83 E Colonial Drive. Out by the Universal Studios precinct, you'll find options from Shell (5922 Turkey Lake Road) and Mobil (5490 S Kirkman Road), whereas near Walt Disney World, there are multiple stations from Speedway (1000 Car Care Drive and 300 E Buena Vista Drive) and Mobil (6070 and 7893 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway).

For electric vehicle drivers, charging stations are scattered throughout the city center and Orlando's outer suburbs, including ChargePoint stations at various Walt Disney World parking lots (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Disney Springs, and more) and the Universal Epic Universe Prime Parking lot. Downtown, you'll notice additional options from ChargePoint and Flash — convenient stops include 410 N Orange Avenue (floor 4 of the parking garage) and the Lake Eola Park EV Station (195 N Rosalind Avenue).

Do I need to rent a car in Orlando?

If you're looking to explore Orlando at your leisure, the best way to do it is from behind the wheel of a car rental. Though the area is serviced by buses and a weekday commuter train, these options are severely limited, and you'll find the majority of locals get around by car. With a car rental, Orlando Airport is just 20 minutes from the downtown area, theme parks, outdoor attractions, and more.

Learner’s permit/instruction permits are not accepted.

How does car rental insurance work on Turo?

You don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.

In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan. When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

Can other people drive the car that I rented?

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.

For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
