Yes — if your car is model year 2010 or newer, has fewer than 130,000 miles, and holds a clean title, it's likely eligible to list on Turo. Most personal vehicles qualify, from everyday sedans and SUVs to trucks and minivans. You'll also need a valid driver's license and to meet Turo's host eligibility requirements in your state. Listing your car is free, and you can check your vehicle's eligibility when you start your listing.
On average, hosts in the US earn $10,489 per year per car — about $874 a month. Your actual earnings depend on your location, vehicle type, how many days you make your car available, and your pricing. Cars in high-demand cities and near airports tend to book more frequently. Turo's earnings estimator gives you a personalized projection based on your specific car and zip code before you ever commit to listing.
For most people, yes. If your car sits parked most of the day — at home, at work, or during travel — it can generate meaningful income with minimal effort. The more strategically you price and position your listing (airport delivery, flexible availability, a well-maintained car), the higher your earning potential.
To get started, you'll need your car's title, a few clear photos of your vehicle (exterior and interior), and a Turo account. From there, you set your daily price, availability, and pickup preferences — then your listing goes live.
In most cases, yes. Many hosts successfully list financed vehicles on Turo. That said, it's worth reviewing your financing agreement, as some lenders include language about commercial use. Turo doesn't require you to own your car outright — but confirming with your lender first is a smart step.
Most lease agreements don't permit listing a leased vehicle on a rental platform, so this one requires a check with your leasing company before you list. Some lessors have updated their policies as car rental marketplaces have grown, so it's worth asking directly. If your current car isn't eligible, Turo can still be worth exploring with a vehicle you own outright — and many hosts start there before expanding their fleet.
Please note: Aspiring entrepreneurs in California and Oregon should be aware of existing peer-to-peer car sharing legislation that limits the amount of income hosts are supposed to earn from car sharing in certain scenarios. To learn more about this legislation so you can decide whether car sharing is right for you, review this article.
*The annual figure was calculated by taking the average monthly earnings from US Turo hosts during 2025 (January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025) and multiplying by 12. Earnings have not been reduced to reflect vehicle ownership costs like maintenance and insurance. Figures are rounded down to the nearest dollar.

***Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Liability coverage is up to $750,000 for all host protection plans, except in some states and at some airports that require additional coverage. State minimum liability coverage is provided for vehicles in the state of New York. New York hosts can opt into the More Peace of Mind earnings plan for higher liability coverage of $300,000 combined limit. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle. For questions or information about the third-party liability insurance that is included in host earnings plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 / claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit https://turo.com/help.
****Turo is not an insurance company, and contractual reimbursement for physical damage to your vehicle is not insurance. Turo will reimburse hosts for eligible physical damage costs in excess of the host’s per trip damage responsibility amount, subject to terms and exclusions, for the lesser of the cost of repair up to the actual cash value of the vehicle or $200,000. When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, Physical Damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but Turo’s insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to Physical Damage to a host’s vehicle.
