It is a true classic that leaves no one indifferent. Comprising the palace itself, the gardens, the Park, the Trianon estate, and several outbuildings in the town, the estate spans over 800 hectares. The gardens, designed by André Le Nôtre, are a spectacular sight; the Palace of Versailles’ collections—featuring some 90,000 works—captivate art lovers, while enthusiasts of French history can satisfy their thirst for culture. Other châteaux are easily accessible, such as the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, just an hour’s drive away, or the Château de Chantilly, an hour and fifteen minutes away.
After renting your car in Paris and driving an hour or so, you enter the familiar world of Claude Monet. Restored at the end of the 1970s, the refuge of the virtuoso painter of color includes the pink house, preserved intact, and the famous gardens. Through flower beds and different tree species, Claude Monet created an impressionist setting, the main source of his inspiration. The water garden, the famous water lily pond, created from scratch by the artist, immerses you in one of the most famous paintings in the world.
The city is renowned for its ancestral Champagne expertise. Since 2015, the Champagne Hillsides, Houses, and Cellars have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Yet, the "City of Coronations" boasts many other attractions. Notre-Dame Cathedral—featuring 2,303 sculptures adorning its facades—is a must-see, as is the city's remarkable Art Deco heritage. Behind the wheel of your rental car, you can set off to explore the quintessential Champagne landscape and meet small-scale producers to discover their stories.
Routes to discover near Paris
Road trip enthusiasts appreciate this route for the variety of its landscapes: wheat fields, forests, rivers, lakes and hills. You leave - and return - from Fontainebleau, a small town with remarkable medieval architecture, endowed with magnificent parks and gardens. You take the road which winds towards the Fontainebleau forest, this forest area which covers around 70,000 hectares and is home to many animal species: deer, wild boars and foxes. Along the way, you admire UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the village of Barbizon or the Château de Fontainebleau, which was the seat of the royal court for several centuries.
It is a classic route for motorcyclists and cyclists alike. Located just 45 minutes from Paris, the D906 winds its way through villages and forest in the heart of the Chevreuse Valley. Behind the wheel of your rental car, you will travel along quiet roads that alternate between curves and straight stretches. You will pass the Château de Dampierre, follow the Yvette River, and drive through towns such as Chevreuse, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, and Cernay-la-Ville. This picturesque landscape leads you all the way to the Rambouillet Forest and its famous château.
This offers a different take on the scenic drive. It is not about the landscapes here—though the setting remains impressive—but rather the animals, which are the true stars of this excursion. Embark on a genuine safari at the Thoiry Zoo, located just 40 minutes from Paris. Over an 8-kilometer route, you will discover the animal kingdom and its wild herds through an immersive tour. Giraffes, zebras, rhinoceroses, and ostriches watch you pass by, giving you plenty of time to observe them in their natural habitat. You can then continue your visit on foot to meet the lemurs, gorillas, and elephants.
With Turo, you can rent a car all year round at prices that don’t change as much as those charged by a car rental agency. However, it's always a good idea to plan ahead for busy rental periods such as vacations and bank holidays.
At Turo, only certain categories require a deposit. Vehicles in the "Deluxe Class" category require a deposit of €400, while "Super Deluxe Class" vehicles require a deposit of €600. These amounts are used to cover any additional costs, such as extra kilometers.
With Turo, you can rent a car from home and pick it up in France, the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. Unlike agencies, pick-up locations are not packed in major cities, train stations or airports, but are available everywhere. Whether you're in an urban or rural area, you'll find a vehicle close by.
Getting a luxury car on Turo is easy. Filter the available vehicles in your area to see only the luxury cars available nearby. Please note that you must have held a driver's license for more than 7 years to rent most vehicles in the "Deluxe Class" and "Super Deluxe Class" ranges.
Turo offers a very wide range of vehicles in all categories and at all prices, from €20 per day to suit many budgets.
There are two ways to obtain discounts on your rental. You can spot discounts offered by certain hosts for early bookings at least one week before the start of your trip. You can also get a discount for longer trips, starting from 3 consecutive days.
On Turo, vehicle delivery is possible. Many vehicles are available for delivery to train stations or airports, and you can also filter the vehicles offering delivery to a specific address. Delivery includes pick-up and return of the vehicle. Depending on the situation, additional charges may apply.
Turo, the world's largest car-sharing platform, has acquired OuiCar, the French pioneer in car sharing. OuiCar has become Turo France. The service remains fundamentally the same: hosts (called "owners" on OuiCar) offer their cars to guests (called "renters" on OuiCar) across France via the platform, which covers all trips (previously called "rentals"). But Turo France now offers a wider range of vehicles, greater flexibility of coverage, and has adopted Turo's standards of excellence in quality and customer service.
If you're looking for a rental car, turn to private individuals who offer their vehicles on Turo. Using the platform's filters, you'll be able to find a vehicle that meets your criterias and is as close as possible to your location, without having to visit a rental agency. Arrange for the keys to be handed over directly to your host, so you can get the vehicle when it suits you in Paris.
Thanks to private car rental, you can rent a car on any street in the center of Paris, in the less-frequented streets, or anywhere in the Ile-de-France region. Actually, unlike agencies, Turo's pick-up points are not concentrated in the city center, train stations or airports, but all over the city and the countryside.
