Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this host. At pickup, I was unable to access the vehicle and it was also not showing in my Tesla app, so I messaged the host through Turo for assistance. The host then called me. During our discussion about vehicle and Tesla app access, the host became increasingly confrontational and condescending. He repeatedly emphasized that it was “his car,” repeatedly threatened to cancel my month-long reservation around 9 PM while I was in an airport parking lot far from the terminal, and mocked me when I asked for help opening part of the vehicle, telling me that if I didn’t know how to operate his car, I shouldn’t be driving it.
I ended the call because I was uncomfortable with the interaction. The host then called me again and sent messages through Turo criticizing me for ending the call. I reported the incident to Turo as a safety concern, and the trip was subsequently ended early and handled directly by Turo.
I’m sharing this because I believe prospective renters should be aware of how this interaction was handled, particularly female travelers who may need to contact the host for assistance during a trip.
