San Bruno, nestled in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, offers a perfect blend of suburban charm and urban convenience. With its proximity to iconic attractions and natural wonders, this California gem is an ideal base for exploration. Renting a car in San Bruno gives you the freedom to discover the area's diverse landscapes, from coastal gems to bustling city streets, allowing you to create a truly personalized travel experience at your own pace.

The pick up location was two or three minutes outside the terminal, and very easy to find. The car was great and got amazing gas mileage. Cold AC during the heat wave. Returning the car was just as simple. Communication with Pacific was friendly, accurate, and rapid. Excellent customer service. I can definitely recommend Pacific for a car rental, plus it was the best price of anything I found with no compromise.
The rental pickup and rental process was very easy. The car was in great shape and was perfect for our trip.
Hongpu was an amazing host! The first day of the trip I was experiencing a glitch with the Turo app and updating my drivers license for verification while traveling. Turo actually cancelled the trip because I wasn’t able to get my license verified in time. Hongpu kept the vehicle reserved for me, and even talked to Turo about the issue while I was traveling (I had no service) and gave some pointers. He also adjusted the trip time so I could still book my trip after figuring out the issue. Being that this was my first car rental experience ever, he was very accommodating and helpful, and provided all the information for the trip (including details on connecting to the apple car play). Next the car, the 2020 Nissan 370Z on this trip was phenomenal! There were some very tasteful modifications done to the vehicle including an aftermarket exhaust, steering wheel and touch screen, that helped complete a top notch driving experience. Thank you Hongpu!!
The host has been fantastic in maintaining communication from pre to post trip, particularly on collection and return procedures. This is extremely helpful for me as a first time user of Turo. MSTE is highly recommended as a trusted partner for your car rental needs. And the 992 speed yellow cabrio! It's a great car as expected. Well maintained. Well taken care of. Smooth. Highly capable. Quick. Brings a smile to my face. Thumbs up 👍👍👍

Awesome yellow car ! Great on gas to get around California. Good price , I would rent again !
Everything was excellent. I highly recommend this car (excellent gas mileage for a gas car and in excellent condition) and host (made everything easy for as a first time Turo user. Location at SFO much easier and cheaper than the car rental center.)

Simon was accessible, friendly, and very easy to work. Better price and just as convenient as using airport rental center, just one B.A.R.T stop away, and car located literally across the street from B.A.R.T station. Would use again..

Hosts were amazing and car was super fun to drive. Would definitely rent a car from them in the future!

Chris was very communicative throughout the entire rental process. The Fiat was easy to find, easy to unlock and access and was very clean upon pickup. Very transparent about the garage parking fee and how to get out of the garage and how to return the vehicle back at the airport when I was ready to drop off. During my rental I had to extend the time out a few hours due to a flight change at the last minute that was not in my control and he easily and quickly extended me out the time I needed. Very generous with the amount of miles included with the rental period and was very easy to work with whenever I needed to reach out. I only had a couple minor issue I feel should have been addressed prior to my rental as they were mentioned by previous Turo renters based on their comments. Primarily, the windshield wiper blades. Several noted the wiper blades were pretty worn out. I noticed some reviews back to December mentioning as much. Well, I rented in April and it was pouring rain in the NorCal redwoods the week I had the Fiat. I replaced the blades myself as they were so worn out that it was actually safer to not use them at all than it was to try and drive with them on as bad as they made a worse mess of the windshield than leaving them off. To all the future renters of the Fiat…You are welcome! Enjoy the new blades haha. I feel as a host that Reimbursement should have been offered or a discount applied as I left the new blades with the car and the old ones and the receipt from the auto parts store with them. Doesn’t change me giving a 5 star rating as the car was exactly as I needed and Chris was a very accommodating and friendly host. The car ran great and didn’t give me any issues other than the wiper blades. Given the very low daily rental price compared to other rentals in the area the fact I spent $40 more to replace the wiper blades and solved a problem for future renters in the process feels like $40 worth of good karma points and if it helps the next renter be safer on a rainy drive I am happy to have spent the money. In the grand scheme of things it’s $40 and hopefully the mantra “what goes around comes around” holds true and I will see that paid back in my travels. Despite the wipers I still would recommend Chris and the Abarth wholeheartedly and would not hesitate to rent from him again next time I am in the Bay Area….and believe me…it’s more often than I thought it would ever be in my life haha. Wishing you the best Chris! Thank you again!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Experience – Highly Recommended! I had an amazing experience renting this 2024 Mercedes-Benz C300. The vehicle was absolutely spotless inside and out, and it looked and felt like it had just come off the showroom floor. Everything was perfectly maintained, and you can tell the owner takes great pride in keeping the car in excellent condition. The C300 was an absolute pleasure to drive. The ride was incredibly smooth and quiet, and the suspension handled every road beautifully. The steering was precise, the acceleration was responsive, and the overall driving experience was exactly what you would expect from a Mercedes-Benz. The interior is luxurious, with comfortable seats, premium materials, ambient lighting, and an easy-to-use infotainment system. Features like the digital display, backup camera, parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity, and advanced driver assistance made every trip comfortable and stress-free. What really made this rental stand out was the host. Communication was exceptional from start to finish. Every message was answered within a minute, and the host was professional, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure everything went smoothly. They provided clear pickup and return instructions, were flexible when needed, and checked in to make sure everything was going well. It felt like customer satisfaction was their top priority. The car was exactly as described—clean, fully fueled, fresh smelling, and mechanically perfect. There were no surprises at all. The pickup and drop-off process was quick, simple, and very convenient. If you’re looking for a luxury vehicle that’s comfortable, reliable, stylish, and enjoyable to drive, I highly recommend renting this Mercedes-Benz C300. And if you’re looking for a host who truly values excellent customer service, this is the one. I would absolutely rent from this host again without hesitation. Thank you for making this such a fantastic Turo experience

The E89 BMW Z4 is a beautiful machine. Just by nature of it being a fantastic car and an enthusiast machine, I’m glad to rate it 5 stars. Turo needs more cars like this! The car is full of character. The motor runs smoothly, pulls nicely, and has a raspy growl that sounds fantastic. The ride is low and responsive; the steering is delightfully heavy, and the car goes wherever you point it. You should, however, know and expect what you’re getting yourself into. It’s a 2011 car, and sitting at around 100k miles, it’s going to have some wear and tear, and that’s sort of to be expected. I must say, most of the small issues did not bother me for the trip - if you’re looking for a fun drive, I would heartily recommend the car. See the following details as extra info for the discerning guest, not as criticism. The front bumper / lip is somewhat scuffed - might be the result of guests not knowing how to navigate a car so low. Front bumper clips don’t hold the edges in place so it does hang a little loose around the headlights. If you've never owned a car this low, I'd definitely be careful with kerbs and ramps. On my own cars, I've learned this the hard way. I didn’t have any usability issues with the hardtop convertible, despite the occasional error code on the dash as other reviewers have mentioned - I was still able to put it up and down. The mechanism is delicate so I’d definitely encourage guests to review how to properly operate it before using. You have to lower the trunk shield and latch it in place. Note that there is limited luggage space in such a car - seems obvious but don’t expect to get away with lots of stuff. Perfect though for a quick weekend getaway. The pictures in the listing are a little outdated - compared to those, the car isn’t lowered, the car is back on factory wheels (as opposed to aftermarket), and the trunk doesn’t have the black spoiler trim on the edge. I’d summarize it as being more “stock” than the listing. At the time of my trip, the tires were 320TW front, 420TW rear; matching sets on each axle but different front/rear. The host clearly checked for tread before the trip, so that was much appreciated. My only real nitpick would be - the car could use an alignment - neutral steering position is a little offset on the wheel. Hopefully a quick fix for the team. Host was VERY responsive - appreciate their fantastic response time - but I would have appreciated them being more forthcoming with details of the car’s current condition, and/or more up-to-date pictures when requested before the trip. All in all, would recommend this to my friends, and would be happy to rent again. Really enjoyable trip!

I had a very positive experience throughout the entire rental process. The manager was professional, responsive, and always replied quickly to any questions or requests I had. The communication was excellent from start to finish. I ended up returning the vehicle before the end of the rental period, but that was only because the driver's seat wasn't comfortable for me on longer drives. This was a personal comfort preference and not an issue with the vehicle or the service. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience and would definitely recommend this company. Thank you for the excellent service!

I had an excellent first trip with this service and was provided with excellent service and care. I was given plenty of communication of how to go about this trip which eased my mind. The booking process was easy, my hosts were kind, and I look forward to the day should I need to book a car rental again. I would definitely come back to rent with this host. Thank you for the hospitality!

Ramsey does a great job communicating everything you need to know. The cars a bit on the older side so I’m sure the battery and AC have seen better days but great value for the price!

Great comm’s, lined up another vehicle when original reservation became unavailable (Smooth transition did not slow me down at all for my trip.) Maintenance and Cleanliness 💯

Navigating rush hour traffic in the San Francisco Bay Area requires strategic planning. Utilize traffic apps to stay informed about real-time conditions and alternative routes. Consider adjusting your travel times to avoid peak hours, typically between 7-9 AM and 4-7 PM. If possible, use express lanes on major highways to bypass congestion. Familiarize yourself with public transportation options, as some areas may be more accessible by BART or Caltrain during heavy traffic periods. When driving from San Bruno, consider using Interstate 280 instead of Highway 101 for a potentially smoother ride. Be prepared for sudden slowdowns, especially near bridges and interchanges. Patience and flexibility are key – sometimes taking a slightly longer but less congested route can save time overall. Remember to keep a safe following distance and stay alert for frequent lane changes in heavy traffic.
Downtown San Bruno offers several convenient parking options for visitors. Street parking is available along San Mateo Avenue, the main thoroughfare, with time limits typically ranging from one to two hours. For longer stays, consider the public parking lots located near the intersection of San Mateo Avenue and El Camino Real. These lots often provide more extended parking durations. The San Bruno BART station also offers a park-and-ride facility, which can be convenient if you plan to combine your visit with public transportation. Some local businesses have dedicated customer parking, so check for signs if you're visiting a specific establishment. When parking on residential streets, be mindful of permit requirements and time restrictions. Always read parking signs carefully to avoid fines. During busy periods or events, arriving early can help secure a spot closer to your destination in downtown San Bruno.
For navigating the hilly terrain around San Bruno, vehicles with good power-to-weight ratios and responsive handling are ideal. SUVs are popular choices, offering a balance of performance and comfort on varied road conditions. Their higher ground clearance can be beneficial on steeper inclines. Compact cars with turbocharged engines can also perform well, providing nimble handling on winding roads while maintaining fuel efficiency. For those preferring a sportier drive, a well-tuned sedan or hatchback can offer an engaging experience on San Bruno's curvy streets. Electric vehicles are gaining popularity due to their instant torque, which is advantageous on hills. Regardless of the car type, features like hill-start assist and good brakes are valuable in hilly areas. When selecting a rental car, consider factors like fuel efficiency, visibility, and your comfort level with the car's size for maneuvering on narrow or steep roads.
When traveling from San Bruno to nearby cities, it's important to be aware of several toll roads in the area. The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, connecting San Francisco to the East Bay, is a major toll bridge you might encounter. If heading south, the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge and Dumbarton Bridge also require tolls. Many of these bridges use electronic toll collection systems, so having a FasTrak transponder can be convenient. If you're driving north towards Marin County, the Golden Gate Bridge uses a toll-by-plate system for those without FasTrak. Some express lanes on highways like 101 and 880 also charge tolls during peak hours. It's advisable to plan your route in advance and be prepared with the appropriate payment method. Toll rates can vary depending on the time of day and type of vehicle, so checking current rates before your trip is recommended.
San Bruno and its surrounding areas offer several options for competitively priced fuel. Generally, stations along major thoroughfares like El Camino Real tend to have higher prices, while those in residential areas or near large retail centers often offer better rates. Warehouse club stores in the vicinity, if accessible, frequently have lower fuel prices for members. When driving around San Bruno, keep an eye out for independent stations, which sometimes offer more competitive rates than major brands. Prices can fluctuate daily, so using a fuel price comparison app can help you find the best deals in real-time. Remember to factor in your location and route to avoid going too far out of your way, as the savings might be offset by the extra fuel used. Always ensure you're comparing the same grade of fuel when looking at prices, as premium grades will naturally be more expensive.
Preparing for foggy conditions near the coast around San Bruno is crucial for safe driving. Ensure your rental car's lights are in good working order, including fog lights if available. When fog sets in, reduce your speed and increase following distance to allow more reaction time. Use low beam headlights; high beams can reflect off the fog and reduce visibility. Activate your defroster and wipers to keep windows clear. If fog becomes too dense, consider pulling over safely until conditions improve. Familiarize yourself with local fog patterns; mornings and evenings are often foggier near the coast. Stay focused on the road and avoid distractions, as visibility can change rapidly in foggy areas. Consider delaying your trip if severe fog is forecast. When parking in foggy conditions, choose well-lit areas away from main roads to enhance visibility for other drivers. Always be prepared for sudden changes in weather when driving near San Bruno's coastal areas.
