Highly recommend! I would definitely rent from Roy again. Roy was a great host—friendly, responsive, and made the whole rental process incredibly easy. The Jeep was practically brand new with only about 100 miles on it, and it even smelled like a new car! It was spotless, drove perfectly, and made the trip even better. Can’t wait to rent it again.

BMW Z4 2011

The E89 BMW Z4 is a beautiful machine. Just by nature of it being a fantastic car and an enthusiast machine, I’m glad to rate it 5 stars. Turo needs more cars like this! The car is full of character. The motor runs smoothly, pulls nicely, and has a raspy growl that sounds fantastic. The ride is low and responsive; the steering is delightfully heavy, and the car goes wherever you point it. You should, however, know and expect what you’re getting yourself into. It’s a 2011 car, and sitting at around 100k miles, it’s going to have some wear and tear, and that’s sort of to be expected. I must say, most of the small issues did not bother me for the trip - if you’re looking for a fun drive, I would heartily recommend the car. See the following details as extra info for the discerning guest, not as criticism. The front bumper / lip is somewhat scuffed - might be the result of guests not knowing how to navigate a car so low. Front bumper clips don’t hold the edges in place so it does hang a little loose around the headlights. If you've never owned a car this low, I'd definitely be careful with kerbs and ramps. On my own cars, I've learned this the hard way. I didn’t have any usability issues with the hardtop convertible, despite the occasional error code on the dash as other reviewers have mentioned - I was still able to put it up and down. The mechanism is delicate so I’d definitely encourage guests to review how to properly operate it before using. You have to lower the trunk shield and latch it in place. Note that there is limited luggage space in such a car - seems obvious but don’t expect to get away with lots of stuff. Perfect though for a quick weekend getaway. The pictures in the listing are a little outdated - compared to those, the car isn’t lowered, the car is back on factory wheels (as opposed to aftermarket), and the trunk doesn’t have the black spoiler trim on the edge. I’d summarize it as being more “stock” than the listing. At the time of my trip, the tires were 320TW front, 420TW rear; matching sets on each axle but different front/rear. The host clearly checked for tread before the trip, so that was much appreciated. My only real nitpick would be - the car could use an alignment - neutral steering position is a little offset on the wheel. Hopefully a quick fix for the team. Host was VERY responsive - appreciate their fantastic response time - but I would have appreciated them being more forthcoming with details of the car’s current condition, and/or more up-to-date pictures when requested before the trip. All in all, would recommend this to my friends, and would be happy to rent again. Really enjoyable trip!

How can guests make the most of limited trunk space when packing for a convertible rental trip around California?

When packing for a convertible rental trip around California, efficient use of trunk space is crucial. Opt for soft-sided luggage or duffel bags that can be easily squeezed into tight spaces. Utilize packing cubes to organize and compress your belongings, maximizing available room. Consider wearing your bulkier items, like jackets, to save space. For longer trips, plan to do laundry along the way, allowing you to pack fewer clothes. Don't forget to leave some space for souvenirs! If traveling with others, coordinate your packing to avoid duplicates of items like travel guides or sunscreen. By planning ahead and packing smartly, you can enjoy your San Bruno adventure without feeling cramped in your convertible rental.

What safety tips should guests keep in mind when driving a convertible rental through San Bruno's urban areas?

When driving a convertible rental through San Bruno's urban areas, safety should be a top priority. Always be extra vigilant of your surroundings, as the open top can make you more vulnerable. Keep valuables out of sight to deter theft, especially when parked. In heavy traffic, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles to avoid potential debris entering the car. Be mindful of low-hanging branches or signs that could pose a risk with the top down. When parking, choose well-lit areas and, if possible, opt for covered parking to protect the vehicle. Lastly, always lock your convertible rental, even for brief stops, to ensure the safety of your belongings and the car itself.

Are there any weather considerations to plan for when renting a convertible in San Bruno, especially during foggy conditions?

When renting a convertible in San Bruno, it's essential to consider the area's unique weather patterns. Fog is common, particularly during summer mornings, which can affect visibility and driving conditions. Always check the weather forecast before setting out and be prepared to drive with the top up if needed. Keep a light jacket handy, as temperatures can drop quickly when fog rolls in. If you encounter thick fog, use low beam headlights and reduce your speed. Be aware that sudden changes in temperature and humidity can cause the windshield to fog up quickly, so familiarize yourself with the car's defrosting system. Despite these considerations, San Bruno's climate is generally mild, offering plenty of opportunities for enjoyable open-top driving experiences with your convertible rental.

What are the best practices for parking a convertible rental and securing valuables in San Bruno?

When parking your convertible rental in San Bruno, always opt for secure, well-lit areas whenever possible. If available, choose covered parking to protect the vehicle from the elements and potential vandalism. When parking on the street, try to find a spot away from trees to avoid sap or bird droppings. Always lock the car and fully close the top, even for short stops. For securing valuables, use the trunk or glove compartment, avoiding leaving items visible in the cabin. Consider using a steering wheel lock or alarm system for added security. If your convertible rental has a removable faceplate for the stereo, take it with you. These practices will help ensure a worry-free experience while exploring San Bruno and its surroundings.

How can guests protect themselves from sun exposure during long convertible rental drives along the California coast?

To protect yourself from sun exposure during long convertible rental drives along the California coast near San Bruno, start by applying a high-SPF sunscreen to all exposed skin, including often-forgotten areas like the back of your neck and ears. Wear a wide-brimmed hat to shield your face and sunglasses to protect your eyes from glare and UV rays. Consider wearing light, long-sleeved clothing for additional coverage. Stay hydrated by keeping water bottles easily accessible. Take regular breaks in shaded areas to give your skin a rest from direct sunlight. If possible, plan your drive to avoid the peak sun hours of 10 am to 4 pm. These precautions will help you fully enjoy your convertible rental experience while minimizing the risk of sunburn or heat-related discomfort.

What factors should guests consider when choosing the right convertible rental for a trip around San Bruno and the Bay Area?

When selecting a convertible rental for your San Bruno and Bay Area trip, consider the vehicle's size and comfort for the number of passengers and luggage you'll be carrying. Think about fuel efficiency, especially if you plan on extensive driving. The car's power is important for navigating San Bruno's hilly terrain and coastal highways. Consider whether you prefer a soft-top or hardtop convertible; hardtops offer better insulation for cooler days. Check the vehicle's safety features, particularly important for open-top driving. If you plan on exploring beyond San Bruno, ensure the car is suitable for longer journeys. Lastly, think about the ease of operating the convertible top, as you'll likely be using it frequently to adapt to the Bay Area's changing weather conditions.

What are some tips for safely operating a convertible rental's roof mechanism, whether it's a soft or hardtop?

When operating a convertible rental's roof mechanism in San Bruno, always ensure the vehicle is stationary and on level ground. For soft tops, gently release any latches before activating the mechanism, and avoid forcing the roof if it encounters resistance. With hardtops, check that the trunk area is clear to accommodate the folded roof. Be mindful of wind conditions; it's safer to open or close the roof in calm weather. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, as mechanisms can vary between models. When closing, double-check that all latches are secure to prevent water leaks or wind noise. Regular maintenance of the roof mechanism will ensure smooth operation throughout your San Bruno adventure. Remember, never attempt to open or close the roof while driving, as this can be extremely dangerous.
