GMC Savana Cargo 2026

Amazing trip with great service. Car wasn’t immediately ready due to prior TURO renters not returning on time/ correct drop off. Not an issue though, Brent and Chris got us hooked up right away with a sprinter van to get us to our destination. They delivered the GMC SAVANA when it was all ready to go. This ride is smooth and cozy! Perfect for a multigenerational family trip. A few hiccups initially? but nothing Brent and Chris didn’t take care of with attention to detail and diligence. I would recommend this team and these vehicles to all! We will be back for sure ❤️

Top tips for renting a van in Eglin Air Force Base area

You should book your van early on Turo, especially during peak military family visit seasons and summer beach months when demand peaks. Consider vehicles with backup cameras to help navigate busy beach parking areas and blind spot warning systems for safer highway driving along the coast.

Frequently asked questions in Eglin Afb

Why choose a van for exploring Eglin Air Force Base?

Vans provide excellent storage space for beach gear when visiting nearby Destin and Fort Walton Beach during your Eglin AFB trip. The elevated seating position offers better visibility of the Florida coastline and military installations throughout the area. Rental vans accommodate larger groups comfortably, making them ideal for families exploring both the air force base and surrounding beach destinations.

What should first-time van drivers expect?

Van handling differs from regular cars, requiring wider turns and more careful maneuvering around Eglin AFB's parking areas. The larger size means checking clearances at Fort Walton Beach parking structures and being mindful of height restrictions. Most rental vans feature backup cameras and parking sensors to help navigate tight spaces around Destin's busy beach areas.

How do you park a van in tight spaces?

Use your mirrors extensively and take advantage of backup cameras when parking near Eglin AFB facilities or beach access points. Allow extra space on both sides and practice parallel parking in less crowded areas before attempting it near busy Destin locations. The van's height requires checking overhead clearances at Fort Walton Beach parking garages and airport structures.

Which van works better for families or groups?

Passenger vans with multiple rows work best for large families visiting Eglin Air Force Base and nearby beach destinations. Consider cargo space needs for beach equipment when traveling between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. Van rental options include both compact vans for smaller groups and full-size passenger vans for extended families exploring the Florida Gulf Coast.

How do you stay comfortable on long van trips?

Adjust seats and mirrors before departing from locations like Eglin AFB or the airport to ensure proper positioning for extended drives. Plan regular stops at rest areas between Fort Walton Beach and other Florida destinations to stretch and refresh. Rental vans typically offer climate control for all passengers, essential for comfort during hot Florida summers around the Destin area.

What van safety features matter most?

Electronic stability control helps manage the van's higher center of gravity when driving around Eglin AFB and coastal areas. Blind spot monitoring proves valuable given the van's size when navigating busy areas near Destin and Fort Walton Beach. Modern rental vans include multiple airbags and anti-lock braking systems, crucial safety features for Florida's varied driving conditions from the airport to beach destinations.
