Ray was a fantastic host, super communicative and his car was perfect for our trip. It was very fuel efficient and comfortable for our weeklong rental, we would absolutely rent from Ray again!
The rental process was the easiest I ever experienced. Convenient location along with well explained details for the pick up of the vehicle. The car itself was good overall condition, clean and well maintained. The return instructions were equally well written. If you ever find yourself in Back Bay needing to rent a vehicle for a short getaway, this is the ideal car/person to rent it from.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great experience renting the Honda Civic from Alan’s Car Rental! I only needed the car for 24 hours, and everything was easy and convenient from start to finish. The car was clean, comfortable, reliable, and drove great. It was exactly what I needed for a quick rental with no issues at all. I would definitely rent from Alan again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a smooth and hassle-free rental experience!

Wonderful car rental. Owner was responsive and helpful. Would rent again.

The car was in excellent condition, especially considering the price. It’s very spacious and fuel efficient. The rental process with Aldy Express was quick and seamless, I would highly recommend it. Just make sure to check the pickup spot sent to your email the day before check-in, it is slightly different than the business location listed online.
This is the best way to rent a car for how ever long you need it. Cars in good condition and host are very respectful and helpful your whole trip. I will and am telling friends and family about them and their service. Location is easy to find and a 5 minute walk from oranger line.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had a great experience renting Alvin’s Tesla. The car was clean, well maintained, and a pleasure to drive throughout my trip. Alvin was very flexible with my plans and made the whole rental process smooth and stress-free. Communication was excellent, and he was accommodating when my schedule changed. I would definitely rent from Alvin again and highly recommend both him and his Tesla to anyone looking for a reliable and enjoyable ride.
The car was perfect for our quick get away. The host was very friendly and accommodating. I would rent from him again.

My third time renting this car for a trip to the Cape! Such a great car with incredible gas mileage. Always clean and is a joy to drive. It was out of wiper fluid (for the second time 😅) and when I refilled it, I found the windshield sprayers weren’t working properly. Kind of a bummer and could have been a little dangerous in worse driving conditions, but luckily it rained during my trip. The host assured me they’d be having it repaired ASAP.

Car had trash left from last renter I also told host about fresh damage that was there before my rental started
Haneef’s car was great! Perfect for a weekend trip, and Haneef is a great host 😊

This rental was so easy to pick up! Car was clean and worked very well when I needed a last minute rental after my car broke down.

Watertown offers several picturesque driving routes for those looking to explore Massachusetts. The Mohawk Trail, a historic Native American trade route, provides stunning views of the Berkshires. Closer to home, the scenic drive along the Charles River offers lovely vistas of the waterfront and lush greenery. For a coastal experience, consider a trip to Cape Ann, where you can enjoy rocky shores and charming fishing villages. These routes are perfect for a day trip or weekend getaway, allowing you to fully appreciate the diverse landscapes of the region. Remember to choose a car rental that suits your preferences, whether you prefer a sporty vehicle for winding roads or a comfortable sedan for longer journeys.
Winter driving in Watertown requires careful preparation. First, consider renting a car with all-wheel drive or snow tires for better traction. Familiarize yourself with the car's features, such as anti-lock brakes and traction control. Before setting out, clear all snow and ice from your vehicle, including the roof. Pack essentials like a ice scraper, warm clothing, and snacks. When driving, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and brake gently to avoid skidding. Be especially cautious on bridges and overpasses, which freeze faster than regular roads. Stay informed about weather forecasts and road conditions, and if possible, delay your trip during severe snowstorms. Remember, in Watertown, adapting your driving to winter conditions is crucial for a safe journey.
Downtown Watertown offers several convenient parking options for visitors. The municipal parking lot on Spring Street provides ample space and is centrally located. For those exploring the Arsenal Yards area, there's a spacious garage with both covered and open-air parking. Street parking is available along Main Street and its cross streets, but be sure to check signage for time limits and restrictions. Some local businesses also offer customer parking, which can be handy for short stops. When choosing your rental car, consider the vehicle size that will best suit Watertown's parking facilities. Smaller cars may find it easier to navigate and park in the downtown area, especially during busier times. Remember to always lock your vehicle and avoid leaving valuables in sight.
When exploring Watertown and its surroundings, the ideal rental car depends on your specific needs and planned activities. For city driving and easy parking, a compact or midsize sedan is often a good choice. If you're planning to venture into more rural areas or tackle winter conditions, an SUV with all-wheel drive might be more suitable. For families or groups, a minivan can provide ample space and comfort. Those looking to reduce their environmental impact might consider an electric vehicle, as Watertown has several charging stations. Luxury car enthusiasts might opt for a high-end model to enhance their driving experience. Whatever your choice, ensure it's equipped to handle the varying road conditions you might encounter in and around Watertown.
While Watertown itself doesn't have toll roads, drivers should be aware of tolls when venturing into nearby areas, particularly Boston. The Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90), which runs east-west through the state, is a major toll road you might encounter. When heading into Boston, you'll likely use the Tobin Bridge or Ted Williams Tunnel, both of which have tolls. Massachusetts uses an electronic tolling system called E-ZPass, which automatically charges tolls as you pass through. If your rental car isn't equipped with an E-ZPass transponder, don't worry - the system will photograph your license plate and bill the rental agency, who may then charge you. Always check your rental agreement for details on toll policies to avoid unexpected charges.
Watertown offers several gas stations with competitive fuel prices for those with rental cars. The Speedway on Main Street is known for its reasonable rates and convenient location. Another option is the Shell station on Mt. Auburn Street, which often has competitive pricing. For those willing to venture slightly further, the Costco gas station in nearby Waltham typically offers some of the lowest prices in the area, though you'll need a membership to fuel up there. Remember that gas prices can fluctuate, so it's worth checking current rates online before filling up. When renting a car, consider its fuel efficiency to help manage your overall costs. Also, some stations offer discounts for cash payments, so keep some cash on hand for potential savings.
Driving in Watertown's residential areas differs significantly from navigating Boston's bustling streets. Watertown generally has a more relaxed pace, with wider streets and less traffic congestion. Parking is often easier to find, with more street parking available. However, be mindful of local regulations and residential permit areas. In contrast, Boston's streets can be more challenging, with heavy traffic, narrow lanes, and one-way streets common in the city center. Boston also has more complex parking rules and higher rates for metered spots. When renting a car, consider a compact model for easier maneuvering in Boston's tight spaces. In both areas, watch for cyclists and pedestrians, but expect a higher volume in Boston. Remember, Watertown offers a more suburban driving experience, while Boston requires more alertness and patience.
Planning a road trip from Watertown to Massachusetts' coastal towns can be a delightful experience. Start by choosing a comfortable rental car suitable for highway driving. Consider heading to charming destinations like Rockport or Gloucester on Cape Ann, known for their scenic beauty and fresh seafood. Alternatively, explore the historic town of Salem, famous for its witch trials history. For a longer trip, venture to Cape Cod's picturesque beaches and quaint villages. Before setting out, check your rental car's features and ensure you're familiar with its operation. Pack essentials like snacks, water, and a map or GPS device. Plan your route in advance, but be flexible enough to stop at interesting sights along the way. Remember to respect local parking regulations in the coastal towns, as they can differ from Watertown's.
Rates can vary between weekdays and weekends. Look out for savings on longer bookings, and try adjusting your trip dates to find the best price for your schedule.
