Car rental at Kahului Airport is one of the easiest ways to start exploring Maui the moment you land. From the breathtaking scenery of the Road to Hāna to beach stops near Kanahā Beach Park, having a vehicle gives you the freedom to discover the island at your own pace. Unlike many traditional car rental companies that require a visit to a rental car facility before collecting your vehicle, Turo offers convenient pickup options arranged directly through the app. Whether you're looking for a compact car, a spacious SUV for the family, or an affordable rental near OGG Airport, you'll find options to suit a wide range of trips and budgets.
On Turo, renting a car at OGG is easy. Browse cars online, confirm your pickup location, book your car, and get on the road sooner. With pickup locations at airports across the US, you'll be able to find the perfect car for whatever you have planned.

Enter a date and airport location in Maui, HI (or beyond), filter to find the best car for you, and read reviews from previous renters.

Rent a car for pickup at the airport, or opt for delivery to various destinations, including airports, train stations, and hotels.

Your host sends you pickup details, and you’re all set to hit the roads of Maui, HI! If you have questions, you can easily chat with your host or contact support.
I will break my car rental experience (November, 2025) into 3 parts: Turo, car provider and vehicle. Turo. First time to use this app. Overall, simple and intuitive to use. It is a good option when compared to the traditional car rental companies. It was really nice not having to wait at the service rental counter. Car provider. Once you finish with the Turo process, you finalize all the details with the car owner. Daniel was exceptional to work with. He was timely and thorough with his responses to all my inquiries. Our flight arrived earlier than scheduled. I contacted Daniel and he had the car immediately available for my use. He was honest and trustworthy. At the end of the trip, I identified what I thought was a new chip in the paint. He reported it was present before the rental and not an issue. There is comfort in knowing there was no hidden agenda. Vehicle, Toyota Corolla, 2015. Don't let the age or size of the car deter you. The car was clean, dependable and satisfied all of my needs for 2 people. Hawaii may be dramatic with its natural wonders, but it is stingy with the parking spaces and roads (think road to Hana and Haleakala Volcano). We were happy to be driving this car instead of the SUVs and Jeeps that populated the parking lots and narrow, twisting roads. Overall, I would recommend Turo and HIGHLY recommend Daniel and his Toyota Corolla for your car rental needs in Maui.
We had a great experience from start to finish! The hosts met us at the airport, which made picking up the car incredibly easy and stress-free. They took the time to explain everything about the car, including all the features and controls, so we felt comfortable driving it right away. 👌 The car itself was excellent—clean, reliable, and perfect for our trip around Maui. We also really appreciated the flexibility of returning the car at our hotel instead of the airport, which made our departure much more convenient.✅ The hosts were friendly, responsive, and extremely helpful throughout the entire rental. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend, and we would definitely rent from them again!❤️
Great car with no problems. Great communication with the owners. The spot for the car pickup was a bit unclear; we had a bit of a hard time finding the location with the address given using Google Maps (maybe some photos or coordinates for the location would help), but due to the quick communication, we were able to find it quickly. Given the good price compared to other options in the area, would definitely recommend this and even rent it myself again.
We had a great trip and really enjoyed using this car during our time on Maui. The car was reliable, easy to drive, and surprisingly fuel-efficient, which was definitely a big plus considering the gas prices on the island. The A/C worked perfectly, and everything in the car was in great condition. The host was fantastic and very easy to communicate with. We were able to extend our trip on short notice, and the whole process was smooth and hassle-free. The pickup instructions were clear, the car was easy to find, and everything went exactly as expected. Overall, a great experience from start to finish. We would definitely rent from this host again and highly recommend both the car and the host to future renters! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The car was exactly what we needed for this trip - it was perfect! Communication with the host was great, it was very fuel efficient and there were no problems at all. Would rent it again!

I had an excellent experience renting this car! It was exactly as described ..clean, well-maintained, and drove perfectly throughout my trip. The pickup and drop-off process was simple and convenient, and the host was friendly, responsive, and made everything hassle-free. The car was reliable, comfortable, and great on gas, making it perfect for getting around. I would absolutely rent this car again and highly recommend.🩷🩷🩷🩷

Great car - FSD was amazing throughout our entire trip. Host was very responsive and even let us keep the car an extra day due to the hurricane! 5/5 and will rent again next time!

If you see the automatic review below saying the host cancelled the trip, I want to explain what actually happened. I made a mistake with my booking, and Jin cancelled the reservation so I could get my refund and rebook the car correctly. She absolutely didn’t have to do that. She could have kept the non-refundable payment and moved on, but instead she went out of her way to help me fix the situation, even though it resulted in the automatic cancellation message below. That kind of integrity is rare and exactly the type of person I want to do business with. The car itself was great, everything worked perfectly, and the trip went smoothly. But more importantly, Jin is spectacular and someone I recommend renting from.

It was so easy to pick up the car and drop it off at the airport unlike when you rent a car from those car rental places. It got great gas mileage. Lisa was very clear in her instructions. Would rent from her again!
Amazing trip. The car was great. Especially driving on the Road to Hana. Nice and smooth with tight turns. The pick up and drop off was so much easier than going to a regular car rental place. Thank you I will definitely use them again. Great job!

The best host ever! They give you all the things to do in maui and make the trip and car rental experience so easy! Will definitely rent from lucky joy next time we're on mauiA

The car was great!! Super fun ride. Excellent condition. Very helpful host with prompt communication. I would rent again and recommend!

Car was a dream to drive, only wish it lasted longer. Communication with host was excellent. Pick up and drop off was seamless. Will book again on a future trip.
Carlton is the best Host. The only right person to go to for booking a rental in Maui. Easy convenience cares about the customer. Will be booking again!

Everything was great! The trip was smooth, and the hosts were very communicative throughout the trip. The car was perfect and exactly what we needed. Thank you!
Amazing trip! Loved this car and Thomas was awesome. Such a good car for the week!
I recommend Eric’s car to anyone, definitely was awesome to explore island in this car. Will rent again when we come again! Eric was easy to communicate with and easy pickup/drop off instructions. Mahalo Eric!!
At Kahului Airport, you may arrange pickup and return in approved airport parking areas such as the East Garage, West Garage, East Economy Lot, or West Economy Lot. Exact instructions vary by vehicle, so check the trip details in the Turo app before arrival. Curbside pickup and return directly outside the terminal are not permitted at OGG.
Before your flight lands at Kahului Airport, message your Turo host to confirm exactly where the vehicle will be parked and how pickup will work. Your host may leave parking instructions, a ticket for exiting the lot, or details about where to return the car at the end of your trip, so checking messages before arrival makes the process much smoother.
Trips starting at Kahului Airport may include airport-related fees depending on the arrangements in place with the airport and your host’s delivery setup. Parking costs are not automatically covered by Turo, so it’s a good idea to confirm ahead of time whether you’ll need to pay for parking when exiting or returning the vehicle.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Long-term car rental can be a practical option if you’re staying in Maui for an extended vacation, remote work trip, or seasonal stay. Booking a vehicle for several weeks gives you the flexibility to move around the island comfortably while avoiding the limitations of public transportation.

Maui combines volcanic landscapes, rainforest drives, world-class beaches, whale watching, and laid-back surf towns, making it one of Hawaii’s most varied islands to explore by car.
Rent the perfect car
The Road to Hana is Maui’s most famous drive, winding past waterfalls, bamboo forests, black-sand beaches, and dramatic coastal viewpoints. The journey is slow but unforgettable, with countless stops along the way for swimming, hiking, and roadside fruit stands.
Haleakalā National Park is home to Maui’s massive dormant volcano, rising more than 10,000 feet above sea level. Sunrise above the crater is one of Hawaii’s most iconic experiences, while daytime visits offer hiking trails, volcanic scenery, and sweeping island views.
Kāʻanapali Beach is one of Maui’s best-known beach areas, with long stretches of sand, clear water, snorkeling spots, and sunset cliff diving at Black Rock. It’s also a great base for restaurants, resorts, and whale watching during the winter months.
From the Road to Hāna and Haleakalā National Park to the beaches of Kāʻanapali and Wailea, many of Maui's most memorable experiences are best explored by car. Before you hit the road, it's worth familiarizing yourself with local driving conditions, parking options, and a few practical tips for navigating the island.
Most visitors collect their rental car shortly after landing at Kahului Airport (OGG), in the designated car rental area. Follow the airport signs after you exit the baggage claim area to find your allocated parking spot. If you're picking up from a site near the airport, check out shuttle service options from Maui Kahului Airport before you arrive.
Drop-off arrangements near Kahului Airport vary by trip. Before your departure, review your trip details and follow the instructions provided for your return location. It's also worth confirming any parking requirements or applicable fees ahead of time so your trip ends smoothly before your flight home.
Kahului Airport is centrally located on Maui and sits just a few miles from central Kahului. It’s also a convenient starting point for reaching other popular areas like Lahaina, Wailea, and the Road to Hana.
Driving in Maui is generally relaxed, though travel times can be longer than visitors expect due to winding roads, lower speed limits, and scenic coastal routes. If you're collecting a vehicle from a rental location near Kahului Airport (OGG), you'll have easy access to many of the island's most popular destinations, including the Road to Hāna, Haleakalā National Park, Kāʻanapali, and Wailea.
Roads are generally well maintained, but drivers should be prepared for narrow sections, one-lane bridges, and occasional rain showers, particularly along the Hāna Highway and parts of the island's coastline. Speed limits are clearly posted, and taking your time is the best way to enjoy Maui's scenery while driving safely.
Parking is usually straightforward in most towns and beach areas, though popular spots can fill up quickly during peak hours. Beach parking lots at places like Kāʻanapali Beach and Wailea can get busy by late morning, but arriving earlier usually makes things easier. Resort areas may charge parking fees, while many public beach lots are free.
No, there are currently no toll roads on Maui, so you can explore the island without worrying about toll passes or electronic toll charges.
Gas stations are easy to find around Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, and other larger towns, though they become less common in remote parts of the island. EV chargers are available in many resort areas, shopping centers, and hotels, but it’s smart to plan charging stops ahead of longer drives like the Road to Hana.
Yes, if you want to properly experience Maui, renting a car is easily the best option. Many of the island’s highlights, including Haleakalā National Park, the Hana Highway, and smaller coastal towns, are difficult to reach efficiently without your own transportation. If you’re searching for the best car rental deals at OGG Airport, you can find a wide range of vehicles on Turo to suit your budget and style.

You can also find practical SUVs and minivans that work well for beach gear, group travel, and longer stays around the island.
