Car quality was awesome. Comfortable and spacious and neatly tidy and well taken care of. Car rental was awesome and smooth and easy and comfortable. Thank you so much Zerin! Mahalo. Hope to rent from you again for more trips coming up.

This was my first time using Turo. Everything worked out great with Carl and his car. Turo website on the other hand 1-couldn't upload my license photo . I texted it to Carl instead. Turo Kept asking me to several more times and I retried but no luck. 2-And then when I returned car Turo kept texting me that I was late when I in fact returned it a little early and notified Carl directly. When I went to the website it said trip complete but they kept texting me hours later that I was late and might have pay additional fees.

Car was perfect for cruising molokai. Paka kept me updated on all rental needs

Great car. Clean and everything working well. The owner was very communicative and accommodating. Overall, a 5 star experience. While Moloka’i is a fairly small island, I highly recommend car rental.
Molokai rewards visitors with genuine Hawaiian experiences found nowhere else in the islands. You can explore the world's highest sea cliffs along the northern coast, visit traditional fish ponds that demonstrate ancient aquaculture methods, and discover beaches where monk seals bask undisturbed. The island's rural roads lead to family-owned farms, historic churches, and viewpoints overlooking neighboring islands. Having a rental car allows you to experience Molokai's unhurried pace while accessing remote locations that showcase the island's natural beauty and cultural significance.
Kalaupapa National Historical Park preserves one of Hawaii's most significant historical sites, where patients with Hansen's disease once lived in isolation. This remote peninsula beneath towering sea cliffs tells a powerful story of human resilience and community. While access requires special permits and guided tours, the overlook provides breathtaking views of this sacred place. The winding road to the overlook offers spectacular coastal scenery, and your rental car provides comfortable transportation through Molokai's rural landscape to reach this deeply moving destination that honors those who called Kalaupapa home.
Halawa Valley represents one of Hawaii's earliest settlements, where Native Hawaiian families have lived for over 1,300 years. This lush valley features cascading waterfalls, ancient temple sites, and traditional taro fields that continue to be cultivated today. The scenic drive to Halawa takes you through diverse landscapes from dry grasslands to tropical rainforest. You'll appreciate having reliable transportation to navigate the island's varied terrain while discovering this culturally significant valley where Hawaiian traditions remain vibrant and authentic.
Papohaku Beach stretches for three miles along Molokai's western coast, creating one of Hawaii's largest and most secluded beaches. This golden sand paradise offers spectacular sunset views and excellent conditions for beachcombing and relaxation. The beach remains largely undeveloped, providing an authentic island experience without commercial distractions. Your rental car enables easy access to this remote location while carrying beach supplies and equipment needed for a full day of coastal exploration. The drive to Papohaku showcases Molokai's diverse landscapes, from central plains to dramatic oceanfront vistas that define the island's rugged beauty.

Renting a car at Molokai Airport provides essential freedom to explore this remote Hawaiian island at your own pace. The island's limited public transportation makes a rental car crucial for reaching Kaunakakai town, the scenic Kalaupapa overlook, and secluded beaches scattered across Molokai. Having your own SUV or economy car allows you to discover hidden gems and experience authentic Hawaiian culture away from crowded tourist destinations.
Molokai features mostly two-lane roads with minimal traffic, making driving relaxed compared to other Hawaiian islands. The island's roads can be narrow and winding, especially when heading to remote beaches or the Kalaupapa overlook area. Your rental car should be equipped for both paved highways and some unpaved sections, with a full-size car or SUV rental recommended for comfortable island exploration.
Turo accepts valid licenses (not expired, suspended, or revoked) that allow for full driving privileges; this includes driver's licenses issued outside of the US. Licenses that Turo doesn't accept in the US include any that have expired, have been altered, are conditional, probational, provisional, or restricted. Learner's permit/instruction permits are not accepted.
The western route from Molokai Airport leads to stunning Papohaku Beach, one of Hawaii's longest white sand beaches perfect for sunset viewing. Eastern routes take you through Kaunakakai, the island's main town, continuing to Halawa Valley with its ancient fishponds and dramatic waterfalls. The northern coastal drive offers breathtaking views of sea cliffs and the historic Kalaupapa peninsula, accessible via scenic overlooks along the winding mountain roads.
From Molokai Airport in Hoolehua, take Highway 460 east toward Kaunakakai, which serves as the island's main downtown area. The route passes through central Molokai's rural landscape of red dirt roads and open pastures before reaching the coastal town. Your rental car journey showcases the island's authentic Hawaiian ranch country atmosphere as you drive through this unspoiled terrain.
Molokai has no toll roads, making your rental car exploration completely free from additional driving fees. All highways and local roads across the island are publicly maintained without tolls, from Hoolehua to Kaunakakai and beyond. This allows you to drive freely between beaches, towns, and scenic overlooks without worrying about toll charges during your Molokai adventure.
Gas stations on Molokai are limited, with the primary fuel stops located in Kaunakakai town and one station in the Hoolehua area near the airport. Fill up your rental car whenever possible, as distances between stations can be significant across the island. Electric vehicle charging infrastructure remains minimal on Molokai, so plan accordingly if you're considering an electric rental for your island adventure.
