Excellent experience. One morning the car wouldn't start and I thought I was going to be in big trouble for my vacation so I called and he came out within the hour. All it was was a dead battery in the key fob. This proved to me that if anything should happen it will be okay. I plan on using the service again.

Beautiful car well maintained , love the Mustang so it was a no brainer. Also highly recommend renting from this owner. The rental options from Hertz, Budget etc are awful and they frequently run out of cars. So save yourselves the hassle just rent this beautiful car. Owner dropped the car off well before my arrival gave me credit directions to find it. When I return for my next business trip will definitely rent again.

Pickup & return areas at CHA

Forget rental counters — at Lovell Field, pickups and returns on Turo happen right in the Short-Term Parking Lot. Once you exit the terminal, just follow the crosswalk and head into the lot. Your host will share the exact location of your Chattanooga Airport car rental and where they've left the ticket via the Turo app, so you can walk straight to your car, get in, and go. It's easy, fast, and you'll be back on the road before you know it.

Communicate with your host

After your booking is confirmed, everything you'll need, like your parking stall details, lockbox codes (if any), and parking tickets, will land in your Turo inbox. About two hours before your pickup, you can turn on Share Location through the app. It's the easiest way for your host to track any flight changes and make sure your handoff is smooth, no matter where your plans take you.

Parking & airport fees

Chattanooga Airport charges a small delivery fee for rentals picked up on airport property. Turo collects this automatically and sends it directly to the airport without any hidden markups. If your host is required to pay for any parking fees when it comes to collecting or dropping off the vehicle, Turo requires them to disclose this information in your listing, so you know exactly what to expect before you book.

Things to do and places to see in Chattanooga, TN

Riverfront strolls, hang-glider hills, and one seriously photogenic aquarium — Chattanooga punches well above its weight when it comes to adventure. With your own wheels, you can summit the bluff overlooks at sunrise, sip local IPAs downtown at TailGate Brewery by sunset, and fit more into your day than you ever could on foot.

Lookout Mountain view, Chattanooga, Tennessee

Lookout Mountain

Just about 15 minutes south of downtown, Lookout Mountain delivers the kind of postcard views that make you question if you're still in Tennessee. You can start by wandering Rock City Gardens' twisting stone paths, ancient rock formations, and the famous See Seven States lookout. Kids (and big kids at heart) will love the Fairyland Caverns tucked into the cliffs. For something even more exciting, zip over to Ruby Falls, where a glass-front elevator drops you 260 feet inside the mountain to see America's tallest underground waterfall. Want even more history? Stop at Point Park, the site of the Civil War's Battle Above the Clouds, where views stretch clear across the valley.

Tennessee Aquarium

Set right on the banks of the Tennessee River, the Tennessee Aquarium delivers a double dose of wonder through its River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings. It's home to over 12,000 creatures like playful North American river otters, hypnotic jellyfish, and endangered penguins. Don't skip the Amazon Forest exhibit, where you can walk through humid rainforest paths while colorful birds and butterflies flit past. Afterward, grab a coffee at Trail Town Coffee, stroll the Chattanooga Riverwalk, or pop into the Hunter Museum of American Art just a few minutes away.

Raccoon Mountain

A local favorite for a good reason, Raccoon Mountain serves up the best adventure, both above-ground and underground. The Raccoon Mountain Trail wraps around the hydroelectric reservoir, offering gorgeous ridge-line hikes and views that feel a world away from the downtown area. There are also easy pull-offs for casual photo stops if you're not up for a full trek. Underground, the Caverns offer guided tours ranging from easy strolls past sparkling formations to wild tours where you'll crawl through tight passageways by headlamp. Finish your day at the scenic overlook by the reservoir — it's especially stunning at golden hour when the whole valley glows.

Top tips for renting a car in Chattanooga

Chattanooga is one of those cities where every turn could lead you to something new — historic battlefields, misty mountains, riverside breweries, and more. Having a car means you can connect the dots however you want to, but before you hit the gas, here's what you'll need to know about making your way around Scenic City.

How does airport pickup work at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport?

Touch down, open your Turo app, and head across the crosswalk to the Short-Term Parking Lot. No need to wait for any shuttle or rental agent, your host will have already sent your stall number and exit ticket instructions. This way, you can unlock the door and head out without any further delay.

How does drop-off work at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport?

When it's time to return your car, head back to the Short-Term Parking Lot. Pull a new ticket at the entrance, park within four hours of your trip's scheduled end, and upload your return photos. Lock up the vehicle (using a lockbox or remote lock, as arranged) and send your host a message via the Turo app with the exact drop-off location.

How far is Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport from Downtown Chattanooga?

CHA is only about 13 miles from downtown Chattanooga, which is around a 10- to 15-minute drive, depending on traffic. One moment you're grabbing your bags from baggage claim, and the next you'll be crossing Market Street, planning which barbecue spot you're hitting up first.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Chattanooga?

In downtown Chattanooga, speed limits sit at around 30 miles per hour (mph), while highways have limits that range between 55–70 mph. Tennessee is strict about hands-free driving, so if you're using your GPS, make sure it's mounted before you hit the road.

Weather can change fast, especially in the summer months. Pop-up thunderstorms can make Missionary Ridge and other steep roads slick and tricky to drive, while in winter, early morning sometimes brings black ice on mountain switchbacks before the sun comes out. If the pavement looks shiny, take it slow until the sun's had a chance to dry things out.

Wildlife tends to stay off downtown streets, but once you head towards Stringers Ridge or Lookout Mountain, deer have been known to make surprise appearances around dawn and dusk. Between the rolling hills, bluff roads, and sudden elevation changes, driving around Chattanooga is half the adventure. Just remember to keep both hands on the wheel and soak up the view safely.

What is parking like in Chattanooga?

Finding a parking spot in downtown Chattanooga is easier than you might think. There are plenty of spots available along 6th Street, Market Street, and Cherry Street. Garages like the Republic Centre and those on 3rd Street put you within walking distance of favourites like the aquarium, Riverwalk, and Walnut Street Bridge. If you're heading on an outdoor excursion to popular spots like Stringer's Ridge, make sure to plan for an early start if you want the best parking spots, because they fill up fast.

Are there toll roads in Chattanooga?

Good news! There are no toll roads in Chattanooga. You can cruise through Chattanooga's mountain switchbacks, river crossings, and scenic byways without ever hitting a toll booth or worrying about passes. Just roll down the windows and enjoy the ride.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers in Chattanooga?

Fueling up is a breeze with plenty of gas stations located near the airport along Lee Highway, and scattered throughout downtown near Broad Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Driving electric? You'll find charging stations along Chestnut Street, Broad Street, and Market Street, perfect for a quick top-up between trail runs and city strolls.

Do I need to rent a car in Chattanooga?

Absolutely. If you're planning to do more than explore downtown on foot, a rental is essential. Chattanooga's best experiences, think sunrise hikes on Lookout Mountain, waterfall trails near Signal Mountain, and art towns like Bluff View, are scattered across the region. With a rental on Turo, you're free to chase the Scenic City's best-kept secrets at your own pace.

What rental car types can I find on Turo in Chattanooga?

Chattanooga may be small, but the adventures around it aren't, and neither are the selection of rental car types you'll find nearby. Whatever's on your Scenic City itinerary, there's a car from a local host ready for it on Turo:

* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.

For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency.
