Ford Transit rental in Seattle on Turo

Rent a van in Seattle on Turo

Seattle stretches from harbor cranes on Elliott Bay to evergreens in the hills, and trying to cover that ground without your own wheels can feel impossible. When you secure a van rental in Seattle on Turo, you give yourself room to love the city properly: room for people, for gear, for boxes from a Costco run in SoDo or flat-pack furniture from Southcenter.

Because the city's neighborhoods sprawl along I-5, SR-99, and the shorelines of Lake Union and Lake Washington, a van makes Seattle feel connected instead of scattered. You can pick up friends in West Seattle, swing by a storage unit near Georgetown, then roll north on Aurora to Greenwood without playing Tetris with boxes and backpacks.

On Turo, renting a van in Seattle is easy. Browse vans online, choose your preferred pickup location, book your van, and get on the road sooner. With pickup locations all across Seattle, Washington and beyond, you'll be able to find the perfect van for whatever you have planned.

The 2017 Ford Transit that we rented was nice, clean, and in very good condition. This vehicle is excellent on gas. Even with the high gas prices now, the Ford Transit ran a long ways before we had to refill on fuel. Mr. Isaiah is a very nice person with great customer service. The previous person I was renting from, vehicle was not ready at rental time. Mr Isaiah was there to save our trip!. Anyone needing a Transit vehicle, I highly recommend renting from Mr. Isaiah. I most definitely will rent from him again.

Van rental was easy with multiple videos showing how to utilize the wheelchair strap down. Sophia was great to deal with. (5 stars) Turo website and app are TERRIBLE (0 stars) Even though I have used Turo in the past, every logon required me to call customer support to get out of Verification hell. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Car Rental Review – Passenger Van for California Trip We rented a passenger van for our trip to California, and it worked out perfectly for our group. Space & Comfort: The van had plenty of room for everyone to ride comfortably, with good legroom and space for our bags. It was a nice balance between not being too big to handle but still big enough to keep the group together. Driving & Performance: The van drove smoothly and handled well on both highways and city streets. It was easy to maneuver, even in tighter parking spots, and it felt safe and reliable throughout the trip. Convenience: Having one vehicle for the whole group made traveling so much easier. We could all ride together, chat, and enjoy the journey without needing multiple cars. The air conditioning kept everyone cool, and the van’s layout made long drives more comfortable. Value: Renting a van was much more affordable and convenient than trying to book separate cars. Gas mileage was decent, and the rental cost was worth the comfort and ease it gave us. Overall Experience: For group travel in California, a passenger van rental is a great choice. Comfortable, practical, and reliable—it made our trip stress-free and fun. Highly recommend!

Rent a van and explore Seattle

Things to do and places to see in Seattle

Seattle packs a lot into its hills and water edges. Here, you can find markets perched over the bay, an entire campus of culture at Seattle Center, ferries sliding out toward the islands, and giant parks at the edge of the Sound. A van rental lets you bring the whole crew along with gear and picnic supplies.

Seattle, WA

Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market is chaos in the best possible way - think flying fish, specialty food shops, and little artisan corners stacked just above the waterfront. A van makes visiting less of a juggling act. You can park in a nearby garage and walk the market with free hands, knowing you have enough space to bring back fresh produce and half the spice shop if you feel like it.

Seattle Center / Space Needle

Showing up to Seattle Center in a van means you can bring everyone to the Space Needle at once, carrying the whole family including grandparents, toddlers, as well as snacks, jackets, and a stroller for each child. After visiting the Needle, MoPOP, and the fountains, it's up to you whether to head straight home or shuttle the group over to nearby neighborhoods like Queen Anne or South Lake Union.

Discovery Park

Discovery Park’s extensive forest trails, coastal bluffs, and protected beaches offer expansive views out over the Sound toward the Olympic Mountains. Getting there is easiest with your own set of wheels, and a van lets you enjoy the fun with the whole group. Don't forget to bring the folding chairs, a cooler, spare clothes, and any beach toys.

Seattle van rentals for any occasion

purple lines

Moving van rental

Seattle's "three friends and too much furniture" combo is a classic reason to rent a van. You can lay down blankets, stack boxes for a Capitol Hill move, and slide bookshelves and bed frames into the cargo area without having to play Tetris in a sedan. A van also helps with suburban moves in and out of the city.

Deliveries and furniture van rental

Seattle's mix of small businesses, creative studios, and dense housing means there's always something that needs moving. Renting a van for the day or a weekend lets you pick up inventory in SoDo or Georgetown and deliver it to Capitol Hill, Fremont, and Ballard in one satisfying loop. You can even sneak in an IKEA run or hit a discount warehouse in Tukwila before the night's end.

Family trip van rental

Seattle is surrounded by places that beg for group adventure, and a van keeps everyone together on the way there. Even if you stay inside city limits, a van shines for big days. You can take the whole family to Seattle Center, then shift to the waterfront or Alki Beach without stringing together multiple vehicles. By the time you're headed back, everyone is tired, full, and grateful for the room to stretch out and relax.

Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Landing at SEA with a group and a pile of luggage is exactly when an airport van rental on Turo earns its keep. Once you collect your things, you can skip past the airport rental counter and have everyone on the move at once. From there, you can choose I-5 toward downtown, SR-509 and SR-99 toward West Seattle and SoDo, or 518 and I-405 if you're headed to Eastside. With so many Seattle locations to visit, saving time getting to your van lets you spend more of your day exploring the city and surrounding areas.

Downtown Seattle

If you arrive by train or ferry, picking up your van near the Stadium District or downtown keeps it simple. You can walk from King Street Station or the ferry terminal, get your van, and immediately have space for luggage, merch, or moving boxes. That's especially handy if you're catching a game with friends at Lumen Field or T-Mobile Park.

Seattle Beach

Grabbing your van near Alki Beach, Golden Gardens Park, or Discovery Park is perfect when the day is all about sand and water. Instead of dragging coolers, paddleboards, and half the birthday party down from a distant garage, you can pick up your van a few blocks from the shoreline, load everything at street level, and head straight to your spot.

Skip the rental car counter at hundreds of popular airports without waiting in line or filling out paperwork. Find and pick up the car with the app and hit the road in no time.

Top tips for renting a van in Seattle

Seattle’s hills, tight neighborhood streets, and height-restricted garages mean renting a van requires a bit more planning than driving a standard car. A few practical tips can help you stay comfortable behind the wheel, avoid awkward parking situations, and make getting around the city much easier.

Tips for driving a van in Seattle

Driving a van in Seattle takes a little adjustment, especially if you’re used to a smaller car. Vans are longer, wider, and taller, which means turns need more space and braking distances are slightly longer. Pay close attention to your van’s height when approaching garages, underpasses, and older parking structures, as clearance limits can be lower than expected. On steeper streets and in tighter neighborhoods, slower speeds and wider turns make navigating the city far more comfortable and help avoid last-minute surprises.

What is parking a van like in Seattle?

Parking is where van awareness matters most; most downtown and Capitol Hill garages were built with cars in mind. In neighborhoods like Ballard, Fremont, and the U-District, streets can be narrow, busy, and lined with parked cars on both sides.

Parallel parking is possible, but easier if you choose blocks with longer gaps and fewer driveways. Don't be afraid to park a block farther away in a cleaner, straighter space and walk the extra minute. Around SoDo and the stadium, lots are usually more van-friendly, but it's still a good idea to park along an edge where you can pull forward out of the space.

How to choose the right type of van for your Seattle trip

Start by being brutally honest with what you're hauling and where you're going. If you're in town for a family trip or a team outing, and if most of your driving is between hotels and restaurants, a minivan or passenger van makes the most sense. Sliding doors, flexible seating, and decent visibility are worth their weight in gold in tighter Seattle neighborhoods like Fremont or Capitol Hill.

However, if you're hauling furniture and things, a cargo van is usually the better call. Look at the interior dimensions and max payload, and then compare that to your largest items and how many trips you want to make. For older, hillier streets, a shorter wheelbase is easier to maneuver compared to a long, high-roof model.

Loading a cargo van

Heavy items should go low and forward, as close to the van's center as possible. Use straps, tie-down points, moving blankets, and even simple friction to keep things from sliding around. If you're stacking items, the heavier ones go on the bottom.

Before you close the door, think about what you might need mid-route. Keep tools, straps, and a basic kit near the door rather than buried behind all the furniture. Likewise, keep a close on the van's listed maximum load and remember your own common sense.

Gas stations and EV chargers in Seattle

Fuel is easy to find around Seattle, but not every station is feasible for a long vehicle. Additionally, many vans often use diesel fuel; check your instructions on Turo to see what your rental requires.

If you're in an electric or plug-in van, the same principles apply. Look for chargers on surface lots and larger garages where you have room to maneuver. The van's size means it's often worth checking out the layout on a navigation app first so that you don't get stuck trying to drive in a cramped corner.

We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

How much does it cost to rent a van in Seattle?

The cost of van rental in Seattle can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap van rentals in Seattle, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

What rental van types are there in Seattle?

In Seattle, you can expect to find vans that match very different kinds of missions. For moves and serious hauling, cargo vans with minimal rear seating and tall interiors are ideal. They make it easy to transport mattresses, desks, shelving units, and stacks of boxes. For people-focused trips, passenger vans and minivans come into their own.

Depending on your travel dates, you may find van rentals on Turo like the Ford Transit, Chevrolet Express, and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter.

* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. In the US, liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.

For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency.
