Find your configuration

Need room to move furniture, haul event items, or transport your whole crew? The Transit comes in various configurations (with multiple lengths, roof heights, and seating for up to 15) to suit all kinds of trips. If your plan involves moving lots of things or people, there's a Transit on Turo for the job.

Handles like half its size

The Transit is packed with features that make you feel like you're driving a car rather than a full-size van. On some trims, you'll find a 360-degree camera and Active Park Assist to help you get into tight spaces with confidence, not stress.

Safe driving with assistive tech

Features like lane keeping assist, pre-collision braking, and blind spot alerts work quietly in the background to keep your trip smooth and secure, whether you’re merging onto the freeway or zipping around town.

Built for space, tuned for comfort

The Ford Transit offers more than just a spacious interior — it’s designed to make every ride easier, whether you’re hauling gear, moving a group, or heading out for a long drive. With flexible seating for up to 15, smooth handling, and thoughtful vehicle features like Active Park Assist and smart tech, it feels less like a work van and more like a well-equipped shuttle. For renters, it’s a practical, comfortable choice that adapts to whatever the trip demands.

Sits up to 15 people

The Ford Transit wagon has room for up to 15 passengers (depending on individual rentals), which means it can easily handle group travel, team outings, or family getaways. The wide doors and high roof options also make getting in and out a breeze — no awkward climbing needed during entries or exits.

Active Park Assist

See a tight parking lot? No sweat. Active Park Assist uses sensors and steering automation to help you parallel or perpendicular park — you just control the throttle and braking. You'll be in and out of your parking space in no time and on to your next activity.

Two V6 engine options

The 2025 Transit comes in either the 3.5L PFDi V6 or 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine. Regardless of which option your Transit is fitted with, both deliver sufficient power for smooth acceleration and a more responsive feel compared to most vehicles in its class.

Ford Transit driving tips

Never driven a Transit before? These tips will have you cruising like a pro in this workhorse.

- Get to know your van rental: The Ford Transit comes in many different sizes and internal configurations. Check your van rental details closely before booking to ensure it meets your needs.

- Check the height before you drive: The Transit is tall. Try to find out the height clearance of places you're visiting before your journey to ensure you'll get through. Also, avoid low garages, drive-thrus, and carports.

- Give yourself more space: It’s longer than a car, so give yourself more room when turning, backing up, or changing lanes.

- Use the mirror and camera: Adjust the large side mirrors before driving and rely on the camera when you're in tight spots.

- Secure all cargo: Whether you're moving boxes or camping gear, tie it down. Shifting weight can impact handling and braking.

- Know the fuel type: There are both gas and diesel versions of the Transit. Double-check before filling up, as misfueling can be a costly mistake.

What is the best van to rent?

For group travel or moving items, the Ford Transit (or alternatively, something like the Chevy Express) is a popular van rental option. It is a top choice for its roomy interior, smooth handling, and availability in 12-passenger van rental formats.

How much does it cost to rent a Transit?

The cost of Transit car rental can vary depending on the model variant, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap Transit rental, look out for potential discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

In the UK, you must be 21 years old or older and have held a UK or EU license for at least one year, or another driver’s license for at least two years. In France you must be 18 years old or older and have held a driver’s license for at least 2 years, longer for certain makes and models of vehicles.

What kind of license do I need to rent a car on Turo?

Turo accepts valid licenses (not expired, suspended, or revoked) that allow for full driving privileges; this includes driver’s licenses issued outside of the US. Licenses that Turo doesn’t accept in the US include any that have expired, have been altered, are conditional, probational, provisional, or restricted. Learner’s permit/instruction permits are not accepted.

How does car rental insurance work on Turo?

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.

In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan. When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

On the vehicle pages, you’ll see the total miles or kilometres you’re allowed to drive under the heading “Distance included.” You can find cars offering unlimited mileage with every trip by using the “Unlimited distance” filter.

Can other people drive the car that I rented?

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

  1. * Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. In the US, liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.

  2. For questions or information about the third party liability insurance for trips in the US, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site. When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but the Turo insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
