Ford Explorer rentals combine a comfortable interior with a quiet ride. Ideal for traveling families, this mid-sized SUV compares well to contemporaries like the Subaru Ascent, GMC Acadia, Ford Flex, and Dodge Durango. Higher Explorer trims rival the power of others in the car group, from the Buick Enclave to the Honda Pilot and the vehicle's older cousin, the Ford Expedition.
Ford gives front passengers more elbow room with the redesigned dashboard, while a single-touch button moves the second row of seats for easy third-row access. Fold the second and third rows to get even more storage for luggage. And if you opt for a model with the Ford Digital Experience, you can make the most out of even the fastest stops. Rent a Ford Explorer on Turo for a smooth ride packed with modern features.

Ford integrates hands-free cruise control with BlueCruise on every Explorer above the base model from 2025 on. Discover many of the popular freeway routes by taking your SUV rental for a spin without even needing to touch the steering wheel. Lane changes, acceleration, even steering: the Explorer can take care of it all.
Along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa built-in to the Ford Explorer, the Explorer puts everything in reach with the Ford Digital Experience. You can download apps from Google Play directly to your Explorer and even game or work when you're parked. Streaming apps like YouTube and Prime Video will keep passengers entertained for a comfortable, quiet ride, no matter the length.
Whether you invest in an Explorer SUV rental for vacation, a test run, or just while your regular vehicle is in the shop, you'll fall in love with the Explorer's drive modes. Normal mode provides a balanced blend of comfort and efficiency for everyday driving, while Sport mode enhances throttle response and transmission shift points for a more dynamic experience. Eco gives this stylish SUV more range. Use the Slippery mode when Mother Nature throws rain or snow in your way.
The Explorer has a solid engine and refined vehicle features, making it a tempting rental option against other vehicles in its class, from the Volkswagen Atlas to the Nissan Pathfinder. With a smaller profile than the Ford Flex and everything you’d expect from a trusted Ford SUV, you can't go wrong with an Explorer reservation. Go on an adventure in comfort, no matter your destination, with a Ford Explorer.

Ford makes a host of safety features available on the Explorer to keep you and your family secure on even the most challenging road trips. Rear parking sensors, along with a rear-view camera, help stop accidental dings. Activate Lane-Keeping Alert to warn you if you're drifting, or let Lane-Keeping Assist pull you back to the center of your lane.
Our smartphones keep us in touch, give us music to set the mood for the trip, and even help us navigate. So many crucial functions mean you'll need to keep your phone charged from your starting point to your destination. Instead of fussing with cords or plugs, top up your Qi-enabled smartphone with the Explorer's wireless charging zones, available on all trims besides the base Active.
Your Ford reservation doesn't have to be an ordinary experience; instead, enjoy some luxury with the vehicle's optional multicontour massaging seats (subject to vehicle availability). Active motion technology delivers lumbar support and promotes circulation, keeping you comfortable even on the longest road trips.

Combining standard safety features with luxury elements like the Ford Digital Experience, the Ford Explorer makes for a comfortable, familiar experience that has touches of the future. To get the most out of your Ford Explorer rental, here are some tips.
- Double-check if Lane-Keeping Assist is on. When you're driving a new vehicle, the last thing you want is to wrestle with controlling it because of features you can adjust to your liking.
- Some features are subject to availability. All Explorers come standard with a powered liftgate, for example, but only models above the Active include a 360-degree camera.
- Your driving mode should change based on the conditions around you. This isn't so much an issue for Eco and Sport modes, but the Slippery mode will come in handy the instant that weather presents a hazard.
- Remember to fold down the second and third rows for extra storage space.
The cost of an Explorer car rental can vary depending on the model variant, booking length, extras, and delivery. For a cheap Explorer rental, look out for potential discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

In the UK, you must be 21 years old or older and have held a UK or EU license for at least one year, or another driver’s license for at least two years. In France you must be 18 years old or older and have held a driver’s license for at least 2 years, longer for certain makes and models of vehicles.
When you’re booking your first trip, you’ll go through a quick approval process by entering your driver’s license and some other information. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately, and you’ll be set for all future road trips, day trips, and business trips!
Turo accepts valid licenses (not expired, suspended, or revoked) that allow for full driving privileges; this includes driver’s licenses issued outside of the US. Licenses that Turo doesn’t accept in the US include any that have expired, have been altered, are conditional, probational, provisional, or restricted. Learner’s permit/instruction permits are not accepted.

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.
In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan. When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*
In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

Yes there is — whether you want to rent a car for three days, three months, or even longer, you can on Turo. You’ll find discounted prices on bookings lasting 3+, 7+, or 30+ days, so you can get the best deals and lowest rates possible by booking longer trips.
Some hosts offer unlimited distance for a trip; others set a daily distance limit — you’ll need to check on each rental car individually to see if this service is provided. On the vehicle pages, you’ll see the total miles or kilometres you’re allowed to drive under the heading “Distance included.” You can find cars offering unlimited mileage with every trip by using the “Unlimited distance” filter.
Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.
To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.
* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. In the US, liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance for trips in the US, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site. When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but the Turo insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
