Could be wiped down better or at least include a container of clorox wipes with the rental but other than that, car works good.
This was the perfect vehicle for carting my family around the Big Island! We were a crew of 6 adults who spend about 36 hours exploring different sites, landmarks and farms across Hilo and Volcanoes National Park. Marcya communicated with us well and made everything easy! Mahalo!
The best reliable car to be renting if you’re going to be driving a lot!
Great rental for non touristy vehicle, great condition, super practical!
Great clean spacious vehicle. It was perfect for our group. We will book again. Mahalo
The van was clean and ready for us to use. It was very convenient driving around with this Sienna for our party of 6 with all of our luggage. We were able to fit one more person for a pickup and drop off to the airport. Picking up the car was so convenient after learning that the reserve signs are actually for the Turo cars.
The van was a very cleanliness & smooth ride. & the host was amazing
The rental was just as described and I would recommend renting any vehicle from zhen!
If at all possible that their car is available when i come back, I will for sure rent with them again.

Mary is a top notch host! She provides excellent and punctual communication. She will go over the top to help you. I highly recommend her and her vehicle. Very clean, comfortable, and kind. I will be booking with her again.

Thank you so much! Car was left in a spot away to find and was ready to go! Very clean! I appreciated the lanyard to use instead of having to just hold the key FOB. Highly recommend Thanh

When renting a minivan in Hilo, book early to secure the best rates, especially during peak tourist seasons. Choose a vehicle with good fuel efficiency, as you'll likely be covering significant distances exploring the Big Island. Consider opting for a model with all-wheel drive for better handling on some of the island's more rugged roads. Check if your rental includes GPS navigation, which can be helpful when exploring remote areas. Remember to factor in additional costs like parking fees at popular attractions. Lastly, familiarize yourself with local traffic rules and road conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey around Hilo and beyond.

For a volcanic experience, take your rental vehicle to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can explore otherworldly landscapes. The Mauna Kea Access Road provides a unique opportunity to drive up to observatories with panoramic vistas. Families can maximize their Hilo adventure by turning their rental minivan into a mobile entertainment hub. Pack a variety of travel games, coloring books, and electronic devices to keep kids engaged during drives. Consider bringing a portable DVD player or tablet to watch Hawaii-themed movies between destinations. Create a Hilo-inspired playlist with Hawaiian music to set the mood for your journey. Encourage children to participate in spotting local wildlife or identifying tropical plants from the minivan windows. For added fun, organize a scavenger hunt of Hilo's landmarks visible from your vehicle. Remember to bring snacks and drinks to keep everyone happy during your explorations in your rental minivan.
When renting a minivan in Hilo for a family vacation, prioritize child safety features. Look for vehicles equipped with multiple airbags, including side-curtain airbags for all rows. Ensure the minivan rental has adjustable headrests and three-point seatbelts for every passenger. Check for LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) systems, which make it easier to install car seats securely. Anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control are essential for navigating Hawaii's diverse terrain. Some newer minivans may offer advanced features like rear-view cameras and blind-spot monitoring, enhancing safety during your Hilo adventures. Don't forget to verify that the vehicle has working child safety locks on rear doors to prevent accidental openings while driving your rental minivan.
For navigating Hilo's varied landscape and weather, opt for a minivan rental with versatile features. Look for models with good ground clearance to handle occasional rough roads near volcanic areas. All-wheel drive can be beneficial for tackling wet conditions common in Hilo's tropical climate. Consider minivans with responsive handling and a tight turning radius for easier maneuvering on winding coastal roads. Vehicles equipped with rain-sensing wipers and fog lights are ideal for Hilo's frequent rain showers. Choose a model with efficient air conditioning to keep comfortable in the humid environment. Large windows are a plus for enjoying panoramic views of Hilo's lush scenery from your rental minivan. Remember to select a vehicle size that accommodates your group comfortably for those longer drives around the Big Island.
Efficient packing for your Hilo minivan rental adventure is key to a smooth trip. Utilize soft-sided bags instead of hard suitcases to maximize the flexible space in your rental vehicle. Pack beach essentials like towels, sunscreen, and snorkel gear in easily accessible containers. For volcanic park visits, include sturdy shoes, light layers, and plenty of water bottles. Use packing cubes or clear storage bins to organize items by category or family member, making it easy to find what you need. Take advantage of the minivan's various storage compartments for smaller items. Consider a roof-top cargo carrier if you need extra space. Don't forget a first-aid kit and insect repellent for your Hilo explorations. Remember to leave some room in your rental minivan for souvenirs from your Big Island journey.
Driving conditions in Hilo can be quite different from the mainland USA. Be prepared for narrow, winding roads, especially when venturing outside the city. Hilo's frequent rainfall can create slippery surfaces, so drive cautiously and ensure your minivan rental's tires have good tread. You may encounter one-lane bridges, requiring patience and adherence to local right-of-way customs. Watch for sudden changes in weather, from bright sunshine to heavy mist, particularly at higher elevations. Be alert for wildlife crossings and falling rocks in rural areas. Familiarize yourself with local traffic laws, such as the requirement to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. When parking your rental minivan, be mindful of areas prone to flooding during heavy rains. Adapting to these unique conditions will enhance your Hilo driving experience.

Navigating Hilo's downtown in a minivan rental requires some strategy. Drive cautiously on the narrow streets and be prepared for occasional one-way roads. When parking, look for larger lots near the bayfront or behind main street businesses, which often accommodate vans more easily than street parking. Consider using public lots, such as the one near the Farmers Market, which offers ample space for your rental minivan. Be mindful of time limits in certain areas and always check for no-parking zones, especially during parades or events. When parallel parking, use your minivan rental's backup camera if available. For stress-free exploration, consider parking once in a central location and walking to nearby attractions. Remember to lock your rental minivan and avoid leaving valuables visible when parking in Hilo's downtown area.
