Peugeot BOXER 2023

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo 2016

This my first time using Turo. The price for The Mercedes Benz Sprinter was well below what I thought which was a great deal. The owner Mr. Norman was on time at the pickup and drop off ,very respectful ,professional and very friendly. The hospitality was excellent. He made sure I knew everything about the Sprinter and he made sure it was clean and road ready. Our trip had changed the timing a few times and Mr Norman he made sure everything was taking care of to change the timing and we were able to travel without rushing to get back on time. I plan to book again soon with him. Service 10/10 highly recommended. Thank you for making my first trip with Turo a pleasant experience.

Top tips for renting a cargo van in San Francisco

Book your cargo van rental early on Turo to secure the best vehicle for your needs in this popular destination. Look for features like backup cameras and blind spot warning systems to help navigate San Francisco's narrow streets and steep hills safely. Consider vehicles with keyless entry for convenient access when loading and unloading cargo throughout the city. Choose a cargo van with sufficient space for your specific hauling needs, whether moving furniture, transporting event supplies, or carrying equipment for work projects across the Bay Area.

Frequently asked questions in San Francisco

How to choose the right cargo van size for your San Francisco move?

Consider your inventory volume and San Francisco's narrow streets when selecting cargo van rental sizes. Standard cargo vans offer 200-250 cubic feet of space, perfect for studio apartments, while larger models provide 350+ cubic feet for multi-bedroom moves. Francisco airport locations typically stock various sizes, so measure your largest furniture pieces and choose a van with adequate height clearance for San Francisco's steep hills.

What are the best packing strategies for cargo van rentals?

Load heavy items like appliances and boxes first against the cargo van's front wall, distributing weight evenly to maintain stability on San Francisco's hills. Pack fragile items in the middle sections using blankets and secure everything with tie-down straps to prevent shifting during California's frequent stops and turns. Fill empty spaces with soft items like pillows and clothing to maximize your rental van's cargo capacity.

How to handle a cargo van in San Francisco traffic?

Allow extra space between vehicles since cargo vans require longer stopping distances than passenger cars, especially important on San Francisco's steep grades. Use your mirrors frequently and take turns slowly, as rental cargo vans have higher centers of gravity than regular vehicles. Plan routes avoiding the steepest California hills when possible, and remember that cargo van dimensions may restrict access to some narrow San Francisco residential streets.

How to safely load heavy furniture into a cargo van?

Use proper lifting techniques with your legs, not your back, and recruit helpers for items over 50 pounds when loading your San Francisco cargo van rental. Position heavy furniture against the van's walls and use moving dollies or furniture sliders to reduce strain during the loading process. Secure each piece immediately after placement to prevent shifting, particularly important given California's hilly terrain and frequent traffic stops.

What's the best way to secure large items in a cargo van?

Utilize the cargo van's built-in tie-down points and invest in quality ratchet straps rated for your item's weight. Create a web pattern with straps, securing items both horizontally and vertically to prevent movement during San Francisco's steep descents and sharp turns. Place moving blankets between hard surfaces and the van walls to prevent damage, ensuring your rental cargo van returns in excellent condition.

What are cargo van weight limits for rentals?

Most rental cargo vans have payload capacities between 3,000-4,000 pounds, including passengers and cargo combined. Check your specific van rental documentation for exact weight limits, as exceeding capacity affects braking performance and handling on San Francisco's challenging terrain. Distribute weight evenly throughout the cargo area and avoid loading beyond the rear axle line to maintain proper balance on California's varied road conditions.

Is there long term car rental on Turo?

Yes there is — whether you want to rent a car for three days, three months, or even longer, you can on Turo. You'll find discounted prices on bookings lasting 3+, 7+, or 30+ days, so you can get the best deals and lowest rates possible by booking longer trips.

When you're booking your first trip, you'll go through a quick approval process by entering your driver's license and some other information. In most cases, you'll get approved immediately, and you'll be set for all future road trips, day trips, and business trips!

Is there unlimited mileage car rental on Turo?

Some hosts offer unlimited distance for a trip; others set a daily distance limit — you'll need to check on each rental car individually to see if this service is provided. On the vehicle pages, you'll see the total miles or kilometers you're allowed to drive under the heading "Distance included." You can find cars offering unlimited mileage with every trip by using the "Unlimited distance" filter.

What kind of license do I need to rent a car on Turo?
