My experience with East Bay Rental Cars could not have been better. A friend and I decided to make a last-minute reservation for their M4 convertible for our trip to San Francisco. I noted that East Bay typically does not do delivery other than to local airports, but I reached out to ask if they would be able to deliver to our hotel in the city and they managed to make it work. Andrew brought us the car and was prompt, courteous and friendly. The car was in excellent condition and had desirable options such as a manual transmission, M Performance exhaust and carbon ceramic brakes. It sounded amazing! We had a blast driving up and down the coast and it was the highlight of our trip. Andrew and his team are incredible and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. I highly recommend renting from them.

Gabriel was a pleasure to rent from. From the moment we connected, he was responsive, communicative, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. He took the time to answer my questions, walk me through the car, and made sure I felt completely comfortable before heading out. The California is exactly as represented. It is exceptionally well cared for, beautifully maintained, and it is obvious how much pride Gabriel takes in keeping it that way. The car drives beautifully and made for an unforgettable experience. What stood out most was how easy Gabriel was to work with. It was clear throughout the entire experience that he genuinely cares about the people renting his car, not just the reservation itself. That level of professionalism and customer service is something you don’t come across every day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Gabriel to anyone looking for a Ferrari experience, and I would gladly rent from him again. Thank you again for an incredible weekend.

Zaid was such a lovely host and helped me out tremendously in a pinch after dealing with other rental companies. Next time I need a car he’ll be the first person I contact.

The car was great, it wasn’t in the exact parking spot in the address and I had to spend time looking around on various blocks nearby but otherwise everything went smoothly.

Tesla Model 3 2019

First time taking Turo, was a little sketched but it’s new technology. Better than standard car rental service. I’ve never driven a Tesla and it was fun and weird at the same time. Other than that, easy to use but electric cars aren’t for me as in owning. Since my Jaguar was in the shop, I wanted to see how Teslas are. Derek was communicative and great experience. Though I feel it was all an automotive system but I can’t prove that so other than that. Great experience! Would definitely do again

Five stars all the way!! The BMW was an absolute sexy beast, spotless, beautifully maintained, and an absolute blast to drive. It turned an already great trip into an unforgettable experience. What really made this rental exceptional, though, was Rolando and Alberto. They were incredibly gracious, professional, and genuinely fun to work with. Their positive energy, outstanding attitude, and attention to detail made the entire experience effortless from pickup to drop off. It’s rare to come across hosts who care this much about making sure you have an amazing experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from Rolando and Alberto again, and I honestly look forward to doing so. If you’re considering booking with them, don’t think twice. Highly recommended.

Very satisfied with this Turo rental. Even though the car is from an older model year, the vehicle is still in great condition, well-maintained, and feels very solid to drive. The owner was also very friendly and fast to respond, making the whole rental process smooth and easy. The rental price was very affordable for the quality of the car. I also got a bonus Tesla media play feature, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much!

I would definitely rent from him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable car rental. Great value and excellent service! Thank you! 🚗

The host and his Tesla model 3 are great. Pick up and return location is at a gas station, very convenient. The FSD is a great feature. All you need to do is typing in the address where you want to go. The car drives itself to the location. I would rent the model 3 again from this host when I visit SF in the future.

Who is monthly car rental in San Francisco for?

Just relocated to San Francisco

You just landed a role at Salesforce, a SoMa startup, or one of the South Bay campuses — and you need a car before you've figured out which neighborhood to live in. A monthly rental gives you reliable transport from day one, with no pressure to buy before you know your commute. It's a practical alternative to car ownership while you settle in.

Lease just ended — or just sold your car

You're between cars and not sure you even need to own one in San Francisco. Maybe you're weighing the cost of parking, insurance, and a car payment against how often you actually drive. An extended car rental bridges the gap — drive for a month or three while you figure out what's next.

Extended work assignment or traveling professional

Traveling nurses rotating through UCSF, contract engineers on a six-month project, consultants flying in for quarterly sprints — if your stay has an end date, a monthly rental is far more cost-effective than stringing together weekly bookings. Book for the length of your assignment and save with 30+ day pricing.

Post-college or first car

You just graduated from SF State, Berkeley, or Stanford and you're starting your first job. Your budget is tight, your credit history is thin, and you're not sure where life takes you next. Renting a car for a month in San Francisco lets you drive what you need without locking into a loan or draining your savings on a down payment.

Pickup locations for monthly car rental in San Francisco

Purple squiggle

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Turo operates at SFO with pickups available in designated airport garages — convenient for anyone arriving for an extended stay. Start your monthly rental the moment you land and skip the rental counter lines. If you're relocating or starting a long work assignment, picking up at SFO means you're mobile from the start.

SoMa (South of Market)

SoMa is San Francisco's tech nerve center, home to Salesforce Tower and hundreds of startups packed between Market Street and the Bay. Monthly renters living or working here get the flexibility to commute south to Mountain View or Cupertino campuses without relying on Caltrain schedules. Your own car also opens up weekends beyond what BART and Muni cover.

The Mission District

The Mission is one of San Francisco's most energetic residential neighborhoods, popular with young professionals and growing families. A monthly rental here covers the daily reality that public transit doesn't always handle — grocery runs, South Bay commutes, weekend trips to Marin, and the kind of spontaneous driving that makes city life easier.

Top tips for monthly car rental in San Francisco

San Francisco rewards prepared drivers. Here's what to know before you book a monthly rental in the city.

Finding the best deal

Filter your search for trips of 30 days or more to unlock monthly pricing. Many listings on Turo in San Francisco also offer reduced rates for 7+ and 14+ day bookings, so your per-day cost drops the longer you commit. Book in advance and compare pricing across several listings to find the best value.

How to pick a car

Fuel efficiency matters when you're driving every day. Compact cars like the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra navigate San Francisco's steep hills and tight parking spots well. Prioritize practical, reliable vehicles over flashy options — they'll also cost less per month.

Road rules and conditions in San Francisco

San Francisco's hills are serious — always curb your wheels when parking on a slope. Downtown is a grid of one-way streets that takes a few days to learn, and morning fog can reduce visibility along the coast. Expect heavy commute traffic on the Bay Bridge and US-101 heading toward Silicon Valley.

Parking in San Francisco

According to local parking aggregators, monthly garage parking downtown runs $300 to $500 or more. Residential parking permits are available by neighborhood and can save you significantly on street parking. Pay close attention to street cleaning schedules and posted signs — tickets add up fast if you miss a sweep day.

Toll roads in San Francisco

The Golden Gate Bridge and Bay Bridge both charge tolls. Most toll collection in the area is electronic, so there's no need to carry cash. Check current rates and payment options before your first crossing.

Gas and EV charging in San Francisco

California leads the country in EV adoption, and San Francisco's public charging network reflects it. ChargePoint, EVgo, and Tesla Supercharger stations are spread throughout the city. Gas stations are readily available across every neighborhood, so fueling up is never an issue regardless of what you drive.

Types of cars available in San Francisco

You'll find practical, everyday vehicles across San Francisco — Toyota Camry, Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Forte are popular choices for monthly renters. Compact cars and sedans work well for city driving, and EVs like the Tesla Model 3 are widely available if you want to skip gas stations entirely.

Picking a monthly car rental in San Francisco that fits your budget

Whether you want to rent a car for a month in San Francisco or stay for several months, rentals on Turo get cheaper the longer you book. Based on current Turo listings, about 60% of available monthly supply in San Francisco is priced under $800 per month, with a median around $1,300 per month. You'll see the total price before you book — no hidden fees, no surprise charges at the end.
