Newark, Delaware's third-largest city, blends small-town charm with urban amenities. This vibrant university town boasts historic architecture, lush parks, and a thriving arts scene. With its central location in the Mid-Atlantic region, Newark serves as an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions. Renting a car allows visitors to fully experience the city's diverse offerings and venture beyond its borders to discover hidden gems in the surrounding area.
I highly recommend JBB Rental. The entire rental process was smooth and hassle-free. The car was spotless when I picked it up, and it drove beautifully. JBB was incredibly helpful and responsive whenever i needed help. I would rent from them again!

The host was attentive addressing my questions. Car was clean, good breaks, nicely located near my job, easy to find, and reasonably price

Accommodating for a last minute reservation after a prior host cancelled my initial reservation 15 mins before pickup.
Car quality was great, pickup location is very easy to get to and I would rent again from this host.

**I must preference that this is not my first time booking with them. ** I was running behind with picking up the vehicle but it was ready once I arrived. It was raining at the time of pickup and the guy was a gentleman by bringing the car into the shop for me to get in so I didn’t step in rain puddles with my sandals or get rained on (think he could tell by my outfit I was heading somewhere). He also went over after hour drop off as well and I had no issues with that process. Just wish as a woman they had night security or someone there just for a sense of safety but to be fair not a lot of people realize what is back there. Overall good trip from start to finish will continue to book with them when needed/available.

This was a very successful rental. The owner of the car was super kind and made sure the rental was clean from the inside out. Would highly recommend renting from him again. 5/5 service!!

Car was clean, great on gas. They allowed me to check in 2 hours earlier and got it ready for me quickly! I would absolutely use them again. Thanks!

Car was nice and efficient and the host was quick to answer questions! Definitely recommend!

Communicative and reachable. Was ready on short notice. Will rent again. Thank you!

Great communication and was very efficient .. Recommend to rent with and I’m definitely renting again ..

The instructions for pick-up and drop-off were easy to follow. The car drove very well, and it was clean. I would definitely utilize the car again if needed.

Everytime I Need A Rental I’m Coming And Giving My Money To Ronnie Before Anyone Else .. Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late , Come To Ronnie For Exceptional Service !!

Navigating downtown Newark's parking scene during busy times can be manageable with a bit of planning. Several public parking lots and garages are scattered throughout the city center, offering convenient options for visitors. The municipal parking garage on Center Street is a reliable choice, often with available spaces. Street parking is also an option, but be sure to check posted signs for time limits and restrictions. Some local businesses offer validated parking for customers, which can be a money-saving perk. If you're renting a car in Newark, consider choosing a compact vehicle to make parking in tighter spaces easier. Always carry some change for meters, just in case electronic payment options aren't available.
When choosing a car rental in Newark, consider your planned activities and destinations. A comfortable sedan is ideal for city driving and short trips around Delaware. If you're planning to venture into more rural areas or state parks, an SUV might be a better choice, offering more space and better handling on varied terrain. For those traveling with family or a group, a minivan can provide ample room for passengers and luggage. If you're looking to explore in style, a luxury car rental can add a touch of elegance to your Newark visit. Electric vehicles are also becoming increasingly popular, with charging stations available in and around the city. Whatever your choice, ensure it suits your needs for a comfortable exploration of Newark and beyond.
While driving around Newark and Delaware, you'll encounter some toll roads that you should be prepared for. The most notable is I-95, which runs through Newark and has tolls at the Delaware/Maryland state line. If you plan to venture into neighboring states, be aware that you may encounter additional toll roads. For example, the New Jersey Turnpike and Pennsylvania Turnpike both have toll systems. Many of these roads use electronic tolling, so having an E-ZPass can be convenient. If your rental car doesn't come equipped with one, consider paying tolls online or at designated service centers. Always keep some cash on hand for any unmanned toll booths you might encounter during your travels.
Navigating Newark's busiest streets during rush hour requires patience and planning. Main arteries like Delaware Avenue and South College Avenue can become congested, especially near the university campus. Consider using alternative routes or adjusting your travel times to avoid peak hours if possible. Keep an eye out for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly in the downtown area and near the University of Delaware. Be prepared for sudden stops in traffic and maintain a safe following distance. If you're renting a car in Newark, familiarize yourself with its features before hitting the busy streets. Local radio stations often provide traffic updates, which can be helpful for avoiding congested areas. Remember, rush hour typically peaks between 7-9 AM and 4-6 PM on weekdays.
Newark and its surrounding areas offer numerous reliable gas stations along major routes. You'll find several options along Elkton Road and South College Avenue, which are convenient for those exploring the city or heading out on day trips. For travelers using I-95, there are service plazas with fuel stations in both directions. These are particularly useful if you're venturing beyond Newark. When renting a car in Newark, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the fuel type your vehicle requires. Many stations offer both regular and premium gas options. Some even have electric charging points for those opting for an electric car rental. Remember to refuel well before your tank gets too low, especially if you're planning to explore some of Delaware's more rural areas.
When renting a car in Newark, it's crucial to be prepared for Delaware's varied weather conditions. Summers can be hot and humid, so ensure your vehicle's air conditioning is functioning well. Winter months may bring snow and ice, particularly in northern Delaware. If you're planning a winter visit, consider requesting a car rental with all-wheel drive for better traction. Spring and fall can be unpredictable, with sudden rain showers common. Always check the local weather forecast before setting out on your journey. Pack appropriate clothing layers and keep an umbrella in your rental car. Be prepared to adjust your driving style according to the conditions, reducing speed in wet or icy weather. Remember, Delaware's weather can change quickly, so stay informed and drive safely.
Driving in Newark's city center differs significantly from navigating the rural backroads nearby. In the city, you'll encounter more traffic lights, pedestrian crossings, and lower speed limits. Be prepared for sudden stops and watch for cyclists and pedestrians, especially near the University of Delaware campus. Parking can also be more challenging in the city. On rural backroads, you'll find fewer traffic controls and higher speed limits. However, these roads may be narrower and less well-lit at night. When renting a car in Newark, consider how much rural driving you plan to do. If you're exploring countryside areas, an SUV might be more suitable than a compact city car. Always stay alert for wildlife on rural roads, particularly during dawn and dusk hours.
