Pickup & return areas at FSD

Ready to collect your airport car rental? After landing, check the Turo app for your vehicle’s exact location in the public lots or garages near the airport terminal. In-person handovers happen in the Cell Phone Waiting Lot — just follow the sidewalk past the garage entrances. For curbside handovers, you'll meet your host directly. Returning your vehicle is just as easy. Park in an approved lot — such as the Economy Lot (South), Long-Term Garage, or Short-Term Garage — and leave the ticket in the car.

Communicate with your host

Use the Turo app to chat with your host about your trip and confirm the pickup and return location of your rental car. It’s the fastest way to stay updated and make sure everything goes smoothly from start to finish. In-app messaging keeps all the essentials — like time, location, and return instructions — in one place.

Parking & airport fees

At Sioux Falls Regional Airport (FSD), the airport requires Turo to collect and remit to the airport a fee that allows your host to deliver a vehicle there. Turo doesn't set this fee, mark it up, or retain any portion of it. If your host requires you to cover the cost of a parking fee to enter or exit at an airport parking location, Turo requires them to disclose that information in their vehicle listing.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Sioux Falls?

Sioux Falls offers a smooth and predictable driving experience, with wide streets, manageable traffic, and well-maintained infrastructure. Peak congestion typically occurs between 7:30–9:00 AM and 4:30–6:00 PM along major roads like 41st Street, Minnesota Avenue, and I-229. Winter driving conditions can be challenging due to snowfall and icy patches — South Dakota law requires drivers to clear snow and ice from all windows before driving.

Speed limits in the city generally range from 25 to 30 mph in residential zones and up to 65 mph on state highways. Drivers should keep an eye out for changing limits in construction zones and school areas. Before hitting the road, make sure all driver information in your booking matches the same age and licensing status across all guests. The Turo app provides additional details pertaining to your host’s requirements, including instructions for parking, fuel, and check-out.

If you plan to explore beyond Sioux Falls, such as a road trip to the Regional Airport Sioux City or the scenic Palisades State Park, opting for a pickup truck or other capable vehicle class can make the journey more enjoyable.

Downtown Sioux Falls has a mix of metered street parking and public lots. The East Bank area around 8th & Railroad is known for boutique shops and restaurants, and while parking here can fill quickly during events, there are reliable spots in the adjacent Cascade and River Ramp garages. For daily access, the First Avenue and Carnegie Town Hall lots are also popular among commuters.

Near attractions like the Washington Pavilion or Falls Park, street parking is usually available, though it may require a short walk. City signage is clear, and many downtown garages support overnight parking for rental cars, making it convenient for extended stays.
