Mark was great, the car was excellent! It was nice to have a solid car, especially when it got windy and rainy. Ride was as expected, smooth and comfortable. AC worked great. We had an excellent ride in a little older car and paid less than what a 2024 or 2025 would have cost. We would absolutely rent again from Mark, and if he had the same car, we choose it again!

I had an absolutely incredible experience renting this AMG for my photoshoot. The car is an absolute head turner! Spotlessly clean, perfectly maintained, and performed exactly as you’d hope an AMG would. Beyond the car, Moe was a pleasure to work with. They were incredibly communicative, flexible with the handover process, and made the whole rental seamless. If you are looking for the perfect vehicle to elevate your Oklahoma experience; I cannot recommend this host enough and will definitely be back as always!

BMW 3 Series 2016

Great experience renting from Danny! The BMW was a really nice car — the stock stereo is genuinely impressive and worth mentioning. The AC blows ice cold, and the car was clean and well-maintained on pickup. What I appreciated most was the in-person key handoff — Mark was there to meet me at both pickup and drop-off, which made the whole process smooth and stress-free. No hunting around for a lockbox or a hidden key situation. If you want a straightforward, no-hassle rental with a host who is actually present and communicative, this is the one.

Top tips for renting a car in Oklahoma City

Travel tends to be easy to navigate throughout the entire Sooner State, and Oklahoma City is no exception. Still, it’s always worth brushing up on the road rules before you arrive — here are our top tips.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Oklahoma City?

Driving in Oklahoma City, OK, is relaxed and predictable. The city follows typical Oklahoma state road rules, including keeping to the right-hand side of the road, obeying road signage, wearing a seatbelt at all times, and following speed limits. These vary by road type — 30 miles per hour (mph) on residential streets, 40 to 45 mph on major city roads, and 65 to 70 mph on freeways like the I-35 and I-44.

Traffic congestion in Oklahoma City tends to be light, even during rush hour. You may notice some slowdowns at interchanges downtown, but gridlock is very rare here. Roads are wide, lanes are generous, and parking-related congestion is minimal compared to larger cities.

The weather is the biggest variable to watch. Spring storm season can bring heavy rain and strong winds, while winter ice can make bridges and overpasses slick. When conditions change, locals slow down and give themselves extra time. Cautious driving makes a big difference.

What is parking like in Oklahoma City?

Parking in Oklahoma City tends to be easy and affordable. You’ll notice a mix of street parking spaces, car lots, and parking garages downtown, giving you options when you want to explore. Convenient garages include the Bricktown Garage Parking (222 E Sheridan Street), the City Center East Garage (100 N Harvey Avenue), and the Santa Fe Parking Garage on N E K Gaylord Boulevard. On-street parking is widely available throughout Midtown and Automobile Alley.

Are there toll roads in Oklahoma City?

Yes, Oklahoma City and its surrounding towns have a few toll roads to be aware of, including the Kilpatrick Turnpike and the Turner Turnpike (I-44). While it can be avoided, the Kilpatrick Turnpike loops around most of the city, so check your route and the payment options before setting off. The I-44 connects OKC to Tulsa from east to west, and the Broadway Extension (US-77) starts in OKC and heads north.

Are there gas stations and EV chargers in Oklahoma City?

Gas stations are plentiful in Oklahoma City, though they’re mostly dotted along the outskirts of downtown and throughout the surrounding suburbs. For a quick fuel-up when entering or exiting the city center, try the Shell at 440 NW 6th Street, the Conoco at 900 W Reno Avenue, or the Casey’s at 125 S Lincoln Boulevard.

EV charging is expanding throughout Oklahoma, with stations located in downtown OKC and in major shopping malls, parking garages, and some government buildings. There are EV charging options at Penn Square Mall (1901 NW Expressway), an independent charger at St. Anthony Hospital (1039 N Walker Avenue), and a collection of other stations from networks like Tesla and ChargePoint scattered along major roads.

Do I need to rent a car in Oklahoma City?

Downtown Oklahoma City has public transit via EMBARK buses and a streetcar, but coverage is capped to the most central areas. For total control over your visit to OKC, rent a car on Turo and enjoy freedom at every turn, whether you’re staying close to the city or exploring nearby towns like Norman and Edmond. With hundreds of vehicles to choose from and some of the best car rental options on the market, booking a rental car on Turo makes any trip easy.

How does car rental insurance work on Turo?

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.

When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.
