And don’t miss the Blue Whale of Catoosa: a strange landmark from the ‘70s that has somehow become iconic.
If you’re looking for a relaxing, idyllic ride, take Avery Drive around Chandler Park. This shaded, hilly scenic byway is one of the city’s major roads and has been a pleasure to travel since 1958 when it was first built. As you pass rocky bluffs, steep slopes, and dense forest, keep an eye out for the Arkansas River.
From 71st & Lewis, head west on 71st for a hilly drive that crosses the Arkansas River, then passes a park, golf course, and country club before looping back around. Around the country club, there are plenty of smaller, windy roads you can take if you’re not ready to head back to town yet.
