Carlsbad Caverns

About two and a half hours from El Paso, Carlsbad Caverns is well worth the drive. Stop at the visitors center, then head down to the Caverns to see the details of the sublime underground rock formations, yawning crevices, and otherworldly stalactites.

White Sands National Park

The world’s largest gypsum sand field presents great photo ops. On the northern side of the Chihuahuan Desert, the park holds miles of endless rolling white sand dunes, creating a landscape straight out of Star Wars.

Las Cruces

Just across the state line is Las Cruces, a charming old town that looks like the set of a Western film. Grab a bite at La Nueva Casita Café, where customers can enjoy some of the most authentic (and delicious) Mexican food in the area — at an authentic price!

Best El Paso driving roads

Purple squiggle

El Paso Scenic Drive

This enjoyable two-mile drive leads to the best vantage point in the city, with views of the mountains and even Juarez across the border. It’s not a long drive, but there are plenty of stops along the way so you can take in the great views.

Rim Road

If you want to see the city from a different angle, try Rim Road. Accessible from downtown El Paso, this drive provides more sweeping views of the city as it passes the charming neighborhood of Manhattan Heights.

Trans-Mountain Highway

A stunning drive through the Franklin Mountains, this highway is best experienced at day break and day’s end, when you can see the sun rise or set over the mountains surrounding El Paso. After watching the sun rise, stop for a picnic breakfast at one of the tables along the way.

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.

In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan. When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier (if available), Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.* Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

Is Turo a rental car company?

No. Unlike rental car companies, Turo is a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace where you can book directly from trusted local car owners in the US, Canada, and the UK. There is no fee or additional charge for adding a driver to your trip on Turo. Only the guest who booked the trip (primary driver) can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add authorized drivers before your trip starts, though guests in the US and Canada can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress with no extra charges.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

Can I drive a car I booked on Turo to Mexico?

No, you cannot drive a car you booked in the United States across the border into Mexico. Driving a vehicle booked in the US into Mexico is a prohibited use on Turo and you may face a penalty fee, suspension, and/or removal from the platform. If you’re planning a trip to Mexico, search for your destination to rent a car with a Commercial Host at a convenient rental location in Mexico.
