My first experience with Turo and Hashim made this reservation amazing for me. It was a great Sienna minivan that was conveniently located close to me. Picking up and dropping off was super easy. Car was neat and tidy. Unlimited miles offer was super helpful as I realized I had to make a long trip within a couple of days. I would definitely book with Hashim in future and for sure recommend him as host.

The car quality was very good and worked very well. The host was accommodating and flexible. On the other hand Turo itself was a terrible experience. Three contacts with support without any resolution. The turo app itself is substandard, broken, buggy, faulty, terrible, awful, useless, does not work well, and was an all-around stressful, and awful experience. Any company that does not allow using a computer as a backup or workaround when the app itself fails should be avoided. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. The inflexibility of the app and the inability of the company to willingly address faults in the app that have existed for years shows poor forethought and bad management decision. making.

It had absolutely zero issues throughout the entire trip, making the experience smooth and completely worry-free. Justin is an outstanding person—very kind, always cheerful, attentive, and truly trustworthy. From the very beginning, he made everything easy and pleasant. It was a perfect trip in every way. The minivan was great. It fit five of us in a great amount of road trip items. The pick up was fairly easy and return. The windshield fluid was empty so we did have to fill that on our own dime. We also had noticed that the left brake light was out and cracked so we took pictures of that before and after the trip. Otherwise it’s an awesome vehicle and rides very nicely and fit five adults very comfortably.

Stanford University campus exploration

Stanford University's sprawling 8,180-acre campus features stunning architecture, including the Memorial Church and Cantor Arts Center, making it one of the most beautiful university campuses in the country. Multiple parking areas give you access to different trail systems and viewing platforms where you can observe migratory birds and native wildlife. Your rental minivan allows you to visit various entry points throughout the preserve and easily transport any photography equipment or picnic supplies for a full day of outdoor exploration.

Downtown Palo Alto shopping and dining

Frequently asked questions in Palo Alto

Why choose a minivan for your Palo Alto family adventure?

Minivans offer exceptional space for families exploring California's diverse attractions, with seating for up to eight passengers and ample cargo room for luggage and gear. The elevated driving position provides excellent visibility while navigating Palo Alto's tree-lined streets and nearby coastal highways. These versatile vehicles excel at accommodating car seats, strollers, and sports equipment, making them ideal for multi-generational trips throughout the Bay Area.

What safety features should you prioritize when selecting a minivan in Palo Alto?

Modern minivans typically include advanced safety systems like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and automatic emergency braking, which prove invaluable when navigating busy California intersections. Look for vehicles equipped with multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and backup cameras to enhance protection for all passengers. Anti-lock braking systems and traction control provide additional confidence when driving through varying weather conditions across the Golden State.

How does driving a minivan differ from regular cars in California?

Minivans require more careful attention to height clearances, particularly when using parking garages in downtown Palo Alto or visiting attractions with low-hanging structures. The wider turning radius means planning ahead for U-turns and tight parking spaces, though the improved visibility helps with lane changes on busy California freeways. Fuel consumption tends to be higher than standard passenger vehicles, so factor in additional gas stops during longer journeys throughout the state.

What are the best packing strategies for minivan road trips from Palo Alto?

Utilize the minivan's flexible seating configuration by folding down rear seats to create maximum cargo space for larger items like coolers and beach equipment. Pack frequently needed items in easily accessible areas, such as snacks and entertainment for children in seat-back organizers. Distribute weight evenly throughout the vehicle to maintain proper handling, especially when carrying camping gear for trips to California's national parks.

How can you maximize comfort during long minivan journeys in California?

Take advantage of the minivan's spacious interior by adjusting individual seats for optimal comfort and ensuring adequate legroom for all passengers. Use the vehicle's multiple climate zones to maintain comfortable temperatures throughout the cabin during California's varying weather conditions. Plan regular stops to stretch and move around, utilizing the easy entry and exit provided by the minivan's sliding doors and low step-in height.

Which minivan models work best for Bay Area road trips?

Popular minivan options feature reliable engines suitable for California's diverse terrain, from coastal drives to mountain excursions near Palo Alto. Look for models with good fuel efficiency ratings to manage costs during extended travel throughout the state. Consider vehicles with entertainment systems and multiple USB ports to keep passengers comfortable during longer journeys to destinations like Monterey or Lake Tahoe.
