When you're ready to collect your car rental, Shreveport Airport makes things easy. Once you arrive, open the Turo app to confirm where your host has parked the vehicle. It’ll be in either the Economy Quick Park, Long Term, Short Term, or Quick Park lot, all just a short walk from the terminal. A parking ticket will be waiting inside the car, so you can exit smoothly. If you’ve arranged an in-person handoff, head to the Rideshare Area just outside the baggage claim doors.
The smoothest trips start with clear communication. Check the Turo app to confirm all the details you need to know for your booking, including where to collect and return your rental car. Got questions about your booking? Just send a message through the Turo app. And when it’s time to meet up or return the car, the “Share location” feature makes coordinating even easier, so everything stays on track.
Shreveport Regional Airport requires a delivery fee for every Turo booking, which is collected by Turo and passed directly to the airport. This fee isn't marked up, and there are no hidden costs involved. If your host needs you to cover any airport parking fees when picking up or dropping off the vehicle, they’ll note it clearly in the trip details. That way, you’ll know exactly what to expect before you book.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Set along the Red River and bursting with soul, Shreveport is where Southern hospitality meets a rich tapestry of culture. Often called the Cradle of the Stars, this city serves up hearty gumbo, impressionist art, fossil digs, and lots of live music history. Spend your day exploring museums like the R.W. Norton Art Gallery or the Sci-Port Discovery Center, stroll through Betty Virginia Park, then head to Noble Savage Tavern or Orlandeaux's Café for a taste of local flavor. Shreveport is full of things that keep you coming back for more.
Rent the perfect car
With more than 300 species and about 1,000 animals, this isn't your average aquarium. Here, you can pet a sea star, feed stingrays, and walk through the Ocean Tunnel with sharks swimming overhead. The exhibits are interactive and immersive, making it perfect for kids, date nights, or anyone who still gets a little too excited about seahorses. It's also just a short drive from the Louisiana Boardwalk and Sci-Port Discovery Center, so you can easily turn it into a full afternoon of fun.
Equal parts fine art museum and secret garden, the R.W. Norton Art Gallery is a quiet gem tucked into the South Highlands neighborhood. Inside, you'll find everything from Renaissance paintings and 19th-century silver to works by American greats like Mary Cassatt and Jacob Lawrence. Outside, there's a sweeping botanical garden filled with azaleas, winding paths, and shady spots to slow down. Whether you’re here to admire the art or simply enjoy a peaceful stroll, this spot delivers.
If these walls could talk, they'd sing. The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium is a historic landmark where Elvis Presley, Hank Williams, and Johnny Cash all got their start, thanks to the legendary Louisiana Hayride radio show. Today, it still hosts concerts, comedy shows, and events, but even if there's nothing on that night, a tour through its ornate hallways is worth it. You'll come for the history and leave with goosebumps (the good kind).
Booking a Shreveport Airport rental car on Turo is one of the easiest ways to explore both the city and the surrounding region. Whether you're cruising through downtown or heading off the beaten path, having your own set of wheels gives you the flexibility to travel on your terms. To make the most of your trip, here are a few helpful things to know before you get behind the wheel.
If you're picking up your car at Shreveport Airport, just open the Turo app to find your vehicle. Your host will have parked it in one of the approved parking lots — the Economy Quick Park, Long Term, Short Term, or Quick Park, and there will be a ticket left inside the car for you to exit the lot with. If you've arranged an in-person handoff, just step outside through the baggage claim doors and head right to the Rideshare Area.
Ready to return your rental vehicle? It's just as straightforward as pickup. Pull into any of the Economy Quick Park, Long Term, Short Term, or Quick Park lots, and don't forget to grab a ticket at the entrance. Leave that ticket in the car for your host, then use the Turo app to message your host with the exact stall location or section where you've left the vehicle. For in-person returns, head to the Rideshare Area at the airport and meet your host there.
Shreveport Regional Airport is just a little over seven miles southwest of downtown, making it an easy 10 to 15-minute drive depending on traffic. Whether you're heading to the Red River District for dinner or rolling straight into a business meeting, getting from the airport to the heart of the city is fast, direct, and hassle-free.
Driving in Shreveport is smooth thanks to the grid-like layout of the city and its manageable traffic. Speed limits in town typically range from 25–35 miles per hour (mph), with highways going up to about 70 mph. Just be sure to slow down in school zones and keep an eye out for any posted signs since some local streets can drop to limits lower than you'd expect.
Weather-wise, summer heat is a given, and thunderstorms can roll in quickly, bringing heavy rain, slick roads, and reduced visibility. In winter, while snow is rare, early morning fog or black ice can occasionally show up, especially on bridges and overpasses. A quick look at local forecasts before setting out is always a good idea.
Don't forget to stay alert for wildlife when driving near wooded areas or state parks. Deer and raccoons have been known to make surprise appearances, particularly around dusk. Throw in a little Southern hospitality when you're behind the wheel, and you'll find Shreveport a breeze to drive through.
It's generally easy and low-stress, especially if you plan ahead. There are lots of places to park along Travis Street, Crockett Street, and Milam Street. If you're heading towards the Louisiana Boardwalk or casinos, you'll also find plenty of designated parking areas, but you should still keep an eye on signage to avoid permit zones.
Right now, Shreveport is blissfully toll-free, so you can explore the city, cross the Red River, and cruise between attractions without paying extra. That said, a proposed toll project called the Red River Express is in the works. For most travelers, especially those sticking to the city and nearby spots like Sam’s Town Hotel or the Shreveport Aquarium, tolls won’t be part of your journey. Just wide-open roads and smooth sailing.
You'll have no trouble fuelling up in Shreveport. There are plenty of gas stations along key roads like Youree Drive, Hollywood Avenue, and the Shreveport Barksdale Highway (LA-3032).
Driving electric? You're covered, too. Zip over to the I-220, or head on over to the Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. With more than a few EV charging stations tucked into convenient spots, it's easy to plug in while you grab a coffee, restock on road trip supplies, or plan your next adventure.
If you want to make the most of your time in Shreveport, renting a car is the way to go. Public transport is limited, and the best spots like waterfront views near the Red River, to live jazz venues, historic museums, and scenic parks, aren't always within walking distance.
With your own rental car, you can hop between downtown, Sam’s Town Hotel, and the Hollywood Avenue corridor without missing a beat. Plus, when the mood strikes for a detour out to Walter B. Jacobs Memorial Nature Park or a spontaneous dinner across the river, you’ll be glad to have the keys in hand.
