I had an amazing experience renting this car! Honestly, it was easier than any experience I’ve had with the big rental companies. The host was fantastic; very punctual, professional, and easy to work with. The customer service is TOP TIER!! The car itself was very beautiful and well kept. Everything went smoothly from start to finish! This was by far the best car rental experience I’ve had, and I will definitely be renting again. Thank you so much!

The host was very nice. The car drove wonderfully and there were no real issues. There is a shimmy when you initially press the brakes. Gas mileage is great especially with the current price of gas.

Toyota Camry Hybrid 2025

Absolutely phenomenal rental. MsInMotion (Lana) and Michael were fantastic hosts from start to finish. They delivered the car, communicated clearly the entire time, and made everything smooth and easy. The Camry itself was perfect. Clean, comfortable, in tip top shape, and genuinely one of the best highway cars I’ve ever driven. The hybrid mileage was excellent, especially with gas prices being what they are, and the car still had plenty of power when needed. Sport mode was a pleasant surprise too. I honestly cannot rave about this rental enough. It was so good I almost don’t want anyone else driving it before I come back to town, and it may have convinced me to buy a Camry myself. Five stars all the way through. Highly, highly recommend.

French Quarter, New Orleans

French Quarter, New Orleans

No trip to Louisiana is complete without a spin through the French Quarter. With its wrought-iron balconies, street musicians, and round-the-clock revelry, this historic neighborhood offers something new on every corner. Park nearby and spend your day wandering through Jackson Square, sampling beignets at Café du Monde, or ducking into antique shops along Royal Street. A rental car gives you the flexibility to arrive early (and stay out late).

Avery Island

Home to the world-famous Tabasco sauce, Avery Island serves up more than just spice. Nestled among salt domes and marshes, this small island offers lush botanical gardens, bird sanctuaries, and a dash of Louisiana lore. You’ll need a car to reach this off-the-beaten-path destination — and you’ll be glad you did when you're cruising the quiet country roads with the windows down and hot sauce in hand.

Natchitoches Historic District

Founded in 1714, Natchitoches is Louisiana’s oldest town — and one of its most charming. The historic district is brimming with Southern architecture, brick-paved streets, and scenic riverfront spots. Whether you're visiting during the famous Christmas lights festival or just popping in for a po' boy and a stroll, a rental car makes the journey there just as enjoyable as the destination.

New Orleans

Nothing beats the convenience of picking up your rental car right in the heart of the Big Easy. Whether you're staying near the French Quarter, Garden District, or Mid-City, you can arrange a pickup location that works with your schedule. It's the best way to see more of the Crescent City (and beyond) without relying on unpredictable public transport.

Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

Fly into New Orleans and skip the usual airport car rental companies. Turo makes it easy to pick up your rental vehicle near the terminal or in a nearby lot — just follow the instructions from your host provided in the Turo app. With no counters or paperwork delays, your Louisiana car rental kicks off once you land at the airport.

Baton Rouge

The state capital isn’t just about politics; it’s also a smart place to kick off your Louisiana road trip. Top tips for renting a car in Louisiana

Whether you're winding through bayou backroads or barreling down I-10 with a playlist full of zydeco, having your own ride in Louisiana is the best way to explore the state’s wild, wonderful terrain. From the revelry of New Orleans to the hush of cypress groves, a rental car hands you the keys to adventure — no tour bus or shared shuttle required. Before you hit the road, keep these top driving tips in mind for a seamless, stress-free experience.

What documents and paperwork do you need to rent a car in Louisiana?

To rent a car on Turo, you must create a Turo account, be 18 years old or older with a valid driver’s license, and get approved to drive on Turo. When you’re booking your first trip, you’ll go through an approval process by entering your driver’s license information by providing a photo of it and some other information. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately, and you’ll be set for future road trips, business trips, and family vacations!

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Louisiana?

Louisiana follows standard US road rules: drive on the right, wear your seatbelt, and don’t touch your phone while driving. Speed limits vary between highways and local roads, so keep an eye on signage. Road conditions are generally good, especially around major cities like Baton Rouge and New Orleans, though you may encounter the occasional pothole or narrow country lane if you’re heading rural. Flooding is not uncommon in low-lying areas, so check the forecast if your trip coincides with storm season.

Are there toll roads in Louisiana?

Louisiana doesn’t go heavy on toll roads, but there are a couple — like the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway — where tolls apply, especially for southbound traffic. Plus, keep an eye out for toll bridges dotted across the state, including the Louisiana Highway 1 Bridge and the Crescent City Connection.

Do I need to rent a car in Louisiana?

Unless you plan to stay exclusively in a walkable downtown area (and even then, good luck resisting a swamp tour or two), renting a car in Louisiana is a smart move. Public transit is limited outside city centers, and rideshare costs add up quickly if you’re planning to hop between destinations. A car rental makes it easy to explore small towns, national parks, and seafood shacks far from the tourist trail.

What occasions can I rent a car for in Louisiana?

- Vacation car rentals: Planning a getaway to other cities dotted along the Gulf? A rental car gives you the freedom to explore Louisiana’s best vacation spots at your own pace — from coastal towns and antebellum plantations to scenic drives through bayou country.

- Long-term car rentals: Sticking around a little longer? Monthly or extended car rentals in Louisiana are ideal for work assignments, remote workers, or university students settling into new routines in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, or Shreveport. Plus, many hosts offer discounts for long-term bookings of one month or more.

- Weddings and formal events: Attending a wedding at a French Quarter mansion or a countryside chapel? Book a luxury SUV or premium sedan to show up in style and ferry home your plus-one in comfort. Plus, you'll be able to find unique car models (from classic cars to exotic vehicles) that you won't find anywhere else.

What rental car types can I find in Louisiana?

On Turo, types of rental cars available in Louisiana include, but are by no means limited to, sedans, compact crossovers, SUVs, and luxury vehicles that turn heads. Think Chevy Suburban for the family road trip, Ford Mustang for the open road, or a Tesla Model 3 for eco-minded cruising. There are also sports cars, pickup trucks, and minivans available, depending on your needs — and your playlist.

How much does it cost to rent a car in Louisiana?

The cost of car rental in Louisiana can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rental in Louisiana, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.

How old do you need to be to rent a car in Louisiana?

New Orleans and other hubs usually require you to be 21 to rent a car. On Turo, the minimum age is 18, so you don’t have to wait to explore the bayou.
