Easy pick up and drop off. Car was very clean inside. A/C blows super cold even when it's 100 degrees out!! The windows are not tinted so I suggest bringing your own sun shades if you are going to be parked anywhere but the shade in the summer. Luckily I had those and that made my trip much better. The flip down visors do have the extenders to help block sun while driving thankfully. Charging prices are comparable to current gas prices - about $45 to get 250 miles of charge over a few sessions which is the same as I get from a full tank in my Toyota Yaris. This car DOES have the CHAdeMO fast charge input so it's 30-50 seconds per mile to charge depending on the fast charger & whether you're running the car (AC/radio) or it's fully off. Radio speakers were a little blown out so I had to adjust some settings to listen to my audiobooks but it was easy to do. I had no problem driving from the pickup spot to Kyle, then to the airport, and back into town without needing a charge which was about 90 miles, mostly highway. Just like any Turo rental make sure to take your own photos at pickup and drop off since scratches and such aren't usually documented after every drive by the car owners which seems standard in my experience. Overall a great deal, best price in town especially for a last minute rental. I requested the rental at 9pm on a Tuesday after my personal car died and was able to get this the next morning with no issue. Will definitely keep them in mind when I need a rental near by. Thanks again!

Great small car to get around the city! Everything worked fine and the rental process was smooth 😊

Gregg was very responsive and very accommodating to my reservation changes. Pickup/Drop-off is insanely easy, no hassle. He makes charging easy by providing a Chargepoint card! The car drove excellently, easy to handle, works with Apple Carplay/Android Auto! Price is virtually unbeatable for the quality. Would definitely recommend and return for future Austin trips.
Great service, great car, made my trip to America the best! Appreciate the responsiveness of the host and the opportunity to drive such a true American car!

Car rental was super friendly and easy to check in/out with. Definitely would recommend this any time you're looking for a car for a potluck or you need to take a day trip in Austin. Thank you again!

Very communicative, great price. Got me where I needed to go and only had to charge once, cost only $3 to get a full tank!

This car was incredibly comfortable and perfect for our trip. The ride was smooth, the interior was clean, and it had plenty of space for luggage and passengers. My partner loved it so much that she kept joking that I should buy one for us! The host was excellent throughout the entire experience. Communication was fast, clear, and friendly from the moment I booked. Picking up the vehicle was simple and hassle-free, and returning it was just as easy. Overall, everything went perfectly, and I would highly recommend both the vehicle and the host to anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable rental. 10/10 experience!

Charging ports were very difficult to find around Austin. Called owner who sent me a good distance to only find the charger port didn’t fit the car. The owner was great, he did his best!! Find correct charger port as soon as you get the car

Gregg was very helpful and the car worked well. He provided a lot of great resources for first-time electric car drivers like myself. Using the attached card for free charging at the end was helpful as well. The car could have been a bit cleaner, but it was not a deal killer.

Rented this EV for the first time for a weekend trip and it went great. Gregg was super communicative and helpful during the check in and check out process and provided plenty of helpful info to help me feel confident along the way. Would rent again!

The host Gregg is always so helpful and thoughtful, I have rented with him a few times now and have always had a great experience. This time I needed to extend my rental and he made adjustments to o accomodate me, which was so greatly appreciated. Will always provide videos and resources for utilizing an electric car which is so helpful the first few times..

Easy pickup, reliable car, great communication. The car is clean, easy to drive and to park, and the gas mileage is hard to beat! I accidentally mixed up the return date and they were super understanding. Absolutely wonderful experience, would definitely rent from here again!

I love this car. It's great on gas. The host was a pleasure to rent from she was great and at communicating the lock box information and making sure my number was correct.

This is not a paid review but i will never rent from Turo again UNLESS its through Gregg. He’s the best host on this app with no close second. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Very nice and responsive. The car itself has a small engine, which initially was a slight learning curve if you're not used to compact vehicles, but it for me from point A to B on a 4 hour road trip.

This was such a convenient Turo! Host was AMAZING best customer service I’ve experienced. Was so flexible helped me with my reservation when I made an error on my booking and Turo wasn’t responding, the host jumped right in and helped me fix my booking! He delivered the car too so seemless everything! Car was clean and runs well. EV was SO good on gas too, barely spent any $ on gas in a whole week of driving around central TX. Can’t recommend host enough! Will be renting from him again!

Beautiful car , great price , host was great , would definitely rent again in the future if needed

Breeze past the airport rental car facility and go straight to your new set of wheels when you book a Turo pickup from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). While pickup is not permitted on airport grounds, you can coordinate an easy-to-access pickup location with your Turo host prior to flying into Austin. Before you fly out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), you'll need to organize a rental car return from an agreed location outside of Austin Airport grounds with your Turo host. Park the car and leave your host's keys in a drop box located somewhere convenient and close by. If you park in a parking garage, be sure to take a ticket on your way in and leave it in the vehicle for your host. Then, simply take a rideshare or follow signage to walk to the Austin-Bergstrom Airport terminals, depending on your drop-off location.
Downtown is just a short ride in your rental car from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). In rush hour traffic, your journey into the city center may take up to 40 minutes, but out of peak times, it shouldn't be more than a 20-minute drive. From Austin Airport, head north-west on S Hwy 183, and you'll be amongst all the hustle and bustle in no time.
Austin, TX might have a laid-back vibe, but with close to a million inhabitants, its roads are decidedly busy — so it pays to brush up on the latest road rules. Always follow major Texan driving laws: wear a seatbelt at all times, take heed of road signs, do not use your phone unless on hands-free mode, observe marked pedestrian crosswalks, and adhere to speed limits.
Austin speed limits are generally consistent with the rest of the state, but it's worth noting there are higher-than-average mile per hour (mph) allowances on interstates, including the country's fastest speed limit (85 mph) on State Highway 130. Speed limits are 20 mph for school zones, 30 mph for residential roads, 55 mph for urban highways and interstates, and 75 to 85 mph on rural highways and interstates.
This city is known for its quirks, and a couple of them extend to the road and its drivers. Texas, like a handful of other US states, has a "Move Over" law that requires drivers to move into the next available lane when approaching a stationary emergency vehicle or tow truck with its headlights on. If you can't move over safely, you must slow down to 20 mph. The city is also packed with one-way streets, so keep your wits about you to avoid any wrong turns. When driving in Austin, TX, always be aware of cyclists and other drivers, and stay alert to keep yourself safe.
Parking in Austin is relatively easy to navigate, with a mix of metered street parking and parking garages available throughout the city. Downtown Austin has numerous public parking garages, especially in popular areas like the 2nd Street District, around the State Capitol, and the Rainey Street area. These garages provide a convenient option to leave your rental car while you explore the city’s vibrant restaurants, shops, and nightlife.
Metered street parking is widely available throughout downtown and surrounding neighborhoods like South Congress and East Austin. Meters generally operate Monday through Saturday, while street parking is free on Sundays and major holidays, making it even easier to get around during a weekend visit.
Austin has an extensive network of toll roads and paid express lanes that carry varying costs for drivers. Before you set off for a leisurely drive in your Austin car rental, get up to speed on the toll situation.
Here are the toll roads in and around Austin:
- SH130 (State Highway) Pickle Parkway segments 1-4
- SH130 Extension segments 5-6
- SH45 North
- SH45 Southeast
- SH45 Southwest
- Loop 1 / Mopac Expressway
- Mopac Express Lanes
- 71 Toll Road
- 183A Toll Road
- 183 South Toll Road
- 290 Toll Road
Austin toll road prices are relatively affordable but change throughout the day depending on traffic. The longer you travel, the more expensive your toll fare may be, but you can pay tolls in Austin using a transponder, or online after you've traveled on a toll road.
With a Turo rental car, you've got the keys to discover not just Austin, but all of the Lone Star State. If you decide to venture beyond Austin, there are additional toll roads throughout the state to be aware of. We recommend using your go-to navigation app to locate these before you set off on your adventure.
