Good truck that got the job done. It was great for moving furniture, boxes, and other large items. The only downside was the dirt floor, but if that doesn’t bother you, everything else was good. Pickup and drop-off were quick and easy, and the overall experience was smooth.

Frequently asked questions in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

Why should I rent a car at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport?

Renting a car at DFW provides the cargo space and hauling capacity needed for moving large items, outdoor equipment, or supplies around the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. A rental car offers superior ground clearance and towing capabilities compared to standard vehicles, making it ideal for construction projects or recreational activities in Texas. The spacious cargo areas accommodate everything from furniture to camping gear, while the elevated driving position provides better visibility on busy Dallas highways.

What are the most popular road trip routes from DFW?

The scenic drive through the Texas Hill Country leads southwest from Dallas toward Austin and San Antonio, showcasing rolling landscapes and charming small towns. Head north from Fort Worth to explore the Red River region and Oklahoma border areas, where wide open spaces and rural communities define the landscape. East Texas pine forests and lakes provide another popular route from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, offering a completely different terrain from the urban metroplex.

How do you get to downtown from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport by car?

Take Highway 114 East from DFW airport toward Dallas, then merge onto Interstate 35E South to reach downtown Dallas in your rental car. For Fort Worth downtown, follow Highway 183 South from the airport, which connects directly to the city center. Both routes feature car-friendly lanes and adequate clearance, though downtown parking for larger vehicles may require seeking out designated accessible lots.

Are there toll roads near DFW?

Several toll roads operate around Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, including the Dallas North Tollway and President George Bush Turnpike. State Highway 114, which connects directly to DFW, includes toll sections that can be paid electronically or by mail. Most rental cars fall into standard vehicle toll categories, though larger vehicles may incur higher fees on certain Dallas area toll roads.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport?

Multiple gas stations line the major highways surrounding DFW airport, particularly along Highway 114 and Highway 183, providing convenient fuel stops for rental cars. The airport terminals themselves feature several gas stations within the rental car return areas. Electric vehicle charging stations are increasingly available at shopping centers and hotels near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, though EV options remain limited in the current rental market.

What should I know before I start driving?

Texas requires all drivers to carry valid insurance and a driver's license, with international visitors needing either an International Driving Permit or valid foreign license. Rental cars have different handling characteristics than personal vehicles, requiring wider turning radius and longer stopping distances on Dallas area roads. Speed limits around DFW airport range from 35 mph on local roads to 75 mph on major highways, with construction zones frequently reducing speeds throughout the Fort Worth region.
