Landing in Missoula feels less like arriving at an airport and more like stepping into a postcard, with mountain peaks on the horizon, pine-scented air, and adventure in every direction. With Missoula Airport (also known as Johnson-Bell Field airport) car rental on Turo, you can skip the rental desk shuffle and head straight to a vehicle you actually like. Whether that's a pickup truck for forest service roads, a premium SUV for the family, or an electric vehicle to cruise Glacier National Park in silence, the choice is yours. Get from the airport runway to the trailhead in under an hour — that's how it's done in Missoula. Hit the Bitterroot Valley for a sunrise fly-fishing session, take the scenic route through Lolo Pass, or make your way downtown for craft beer and live bluegrass. With flexible pickup at the airport and no complicated paperwork to get through, your only real to-do is to decide what you want to explore first.
On Turo, renting a car at MSO is easy. Browse cars online, confirm your pickup location, book your car, and get on the road sooner. With pickup locations at airports across the US, you'll be able to find the perfect car for whatever you have planned.

Enter a date and airport location in Missoula, MT (or beyond), filter to find the best car for you, and read reviews from previous renters.

Eric and Valerie have made it impossible for me to ever rent from one of the big international car rental companies again. This was my third rental with them and they are everything the big guys are not. They are friendly, efficient, customer focused are most importantly really easy to deal with. Their cars are great as well.
The host, the car, and the whole Turo experience was 10/10. The price was fantastic and the whole experience was seamless. We had weird hours we wanted to leave and return the car that would not have worked with a car rental agency, but Angel and Turo made the whole process easy and seamless. I’m a bigger guy so I was worried about how comfortable the car would be and it was perfect. The great ride made our whole vacation possible and comfortable. I really appreciated the vehicles safety features too!

Easy pick up and drop off. Car was very clean inside. A/C blows super cold even when it's 100 degrees out!! The windows are not tinted so I suggest bringing your own sun shades if you are going to be parked anywhere but the shade in the summer. Luckily I had those and that made my trip much better. The flip down visors do have the extenders to help block sun while driving thankfully. Charging prices are comparable to current gas prices - about $45 to get 250 miles of charge over a few sessions which is the same as I get from a full tank in my Toyota Yaris. This car DOES have the CHAdeMO fast charge input so it's 30-50 seconds per mile to charge depending on the fast charger & whether you're running the car (AC/radio) or it's fully off. Radio speakers were a little blown out so I had to adjust some settings to listen to my audiobooks but it was easy to do. I had no problem driving from the pickup spot to Kyle, then to the airport, and back into town without needing a charge which was about 90 miles, mostly highway. Just like any Turo rental make sure to take your own photos at pickup and drop off since scratches and such aren't usually documented after every drive by the car owners which seems standard in my experience. Overall a great deal, best price in town especially for a last minute rental. I requested the rental at 9pm on a Tuesday after my personal car died and was able to get this the next morning with no issue. Will definitely keep them in mind when I need a rental near by. Thanks again!

I love the rental cars from Mohammed. He and his staff is friendly and helpful. The cars are small and good at gas. I would suggest anyone to rent a car with Mohammed.

I had an excellent experience renting from this host and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and smooth car rental experience. The vehicle was extremely clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the listing. Communication was outstanding from start to finish. The host was friendly, professional, responsive, and made both pickup and drop-off incredibly easy and convenient. The car drove perfectly and made my trip stress-free and enjoyable. It’s clear the host takes great care of both their vehicles and their customers. I truly appreciated the attention to detail and overall professionalism throughout the rental process. I would absolutely rent from this host again in the future and highly recommend them to others looking for a top-quality rental experience.
Rented this last minute because my Mom didn't tell me until the day before my trip that she had no car. Was pretty easy for the most part. Finding the shuttle at the airport for the car rental area, was a little difficult for me. But you can always ask someone at the airport. Then I followed Turo given directions to the car. It's outside of the rental area but still easy to find because the lot is literally labeled "Turo." As for the car, I DID NOT MIND these "problems" with the car at all, but you should be informed that the car: Cons - Smelled INTENSELY LIKE WEED. I tried to spray it with multiple Febreze, etc. It helped but it still stinks a bit. - The car door lock was extremely finicky, you must PRESS AND HOLD the button it seems. - Crumbs in the backseat (no big deal) - Not sure but seems like occasional light scraping sound sometimes when driving around on normal road. - Not a problem per se, but just know the car has quite a bit of scratches compared to other Turo rentals. Just be sure to document as much as you can. Pros - Good Value for the price - ICE COLD A/C. (Although I visited in winter, so idk how it holds up to the Vegas heat, but again better than my childhood cars with zero A/C) - Pretty quiet car overall (I mention the scrape for the owner to consider getting it checked out, but nothing to make you feel embarrassed while driving.) Overall, I grew up poor, and this car was much better than most of the ones of my childhood, so I didn't mind at all. Just tried my best to document them that's all. But anyone renting who these things might bother should be aware of it. Anyways, thank you so much Nick!!! I would definitely rent again!

The host was excellent throughout the whole process. Communication was very good, he was friendly and easy to deal with, and he made the whole car rental process simple and stress-free. Everything was straightforward from start to finish, and I would definitely rent from him again.

Easy pickup and drop off, saved us when the car rental companies ran out of cars at the airport.

Andre was great, the car was somewhat still dirty, dust, dirt, what appeared to be cigarette ashes, animal hair, sticky spills around the cup holders in the center console and the door panels. Crumbs and dust/dirt left in the door handles and cubby's. In the center console cup holders and cubbys. On the top of the dashboard, around the steering column and gauges. Sticky dusty windows and stereo buttons. Rear view mirror had sticky smudges on it. All the windows inside were dusty and dirty with smudges and idk what really.. the car had a bad smell of animals like dogs, and faint cigarette smell.. however as I got further into my trip I got used to it and wasn't bothered by it anymore. A lot of these issues honestly didn't bother me very much. I was more worried of being blamed for them when I returned the car. Unfortunately I was put behind schedule due to a passenger side headlight and passenger side tail light being burned out. However upon informing andre, he was very quick with a solution to take the car to valvoline where they were able to repair the lights before I left for my trip. If I wasn't already running late It wouldn't of bothered me. Andre was also very quick to reimburse me the whole price of the repairs immediately upon me sending him the receipt of the work.. I very much appreciated that! I also appreciate that instead of canceling my trip Andre worked out a way to have the lights fixed with no trouble of my own. He was always quick to respond to all of my very long messages full of questions. This is my first time using turo and I did not know the ins and outs of the rental process. He was able to guide me threw every step all while being polite and keeping his patience with me! Hah. I ended up running behind schedule on my way back as well and was surprised how simple and easy it was to change the return time from noon to after 9 p.m. all without adding any fees to my bill! That was very helpful of andre to allow me to do. I also ended up being a little passed my return time due to vacuuming the car and dusting everything to my best ability. So that andre wouldn't have to deal with someone else's mess and the next person who rents the vehicle will not have to worry about it either. I had no issues with doing that for him after he was so helpful with me! The vehicle was a little different then what im used to. But in no time I settled in with the car and had a very enjoyable trip! I would forsure rent another vehicle from andre in the future due to how well he accommodated me on this trip. Even tho the car had the mess, that was not andre, But left over from previous renters. He even made sure to have a snow brush and ice scraper in the car for me. But unfortunately the previous renters also took that with them. Im sure there will be a new one for the next person who rents the car because thats how much andre cares about his customers !! 5 stars for andre !!! Whoever returned his vehicle like that should be ashamed and think about how it would feel if someone treated your things the same way! Once again THANK YOU andre! I will reach out to you next time I need to rent a car.. I appreciate all your help thru the process! I appreciate your professionalism and quick responses to all my questions and thank you for making sure the vehicle was 100% good to go for me before I left and wouldn't of been able to fix it. 5 of 5 stars for andre !!

My credit card wasn’t working for some odd reason and rental companies wouldn’t let me rent a car so I booked this Turo last minute and it was a reasonable price for five days. I will do it again when I come back to Vancouver in August.
Excellent 1st experience using Turo. The host was very responsive and timely. The vehicle was in great condition and rode very well. The price was a good deal and would definitely use this again as opposed to a major car rental facility. It was a simple process overall and very straightforward.

The host, Tadeh was exceptional. The very best in customer service. I had the best experience with renting from Tadeh. Everything was so easy; Tadeh was super accommodating, very kind, he went way above and beyond what I reasonably expected. Tadeh is a thousand times better than AVIS, HERTZ, Enterprise, Thrifty, Budget, Dollar, and all the major car rental. Tadeh gave me the best deal; the major car rentals do not come close; I saved a lot of money. The car was great, very good on the gas mileage; and very clean. Tadeh made sure pick-up location was very convenient for me, Tadeh drove the car to where I was; it’s the best. Tadeh also picked up the car when I was done and again made sure it was convenient for me. I am very grateful for this. Once I return from my deployment, absolutely renting from Tadeh again; will be telling all my friends and colleagues. This is just amazing customer service. I am very appreciative for everything. THANK YOU
Kiara had great communication throughout the rental process , the car was amazing , clean and comfortable. Rental was a great price as well. I'll be happy to rent from Kiara again in the future.

Good Morning 🌞 Yall! This Car was Amazing! I was able to go see my older Son's College Graduation during the week. The Car rental process was amazing and an easy process. I would definitely rent this Car again!!
“10/10 experience. I rented the car for a week and the total came out to around $400, which was an amazing price for a brand new 2026 vehicle. The entire process was incredibly easy from start to finish. Pickup and drop-off were smooth and convenient, and I loved that I didn’t have to physically meet or talk to anyone. The key was waiting in a lockbox by the window, which honestly made the experience even better for me. The car itself was spotless, smelled clean, and drove perfectly. It was also amazing on gas — I drove all the way through Saturday and the tank was only halfway. The host responded quickly to messages and was super helpful the entire time. Overall, this was one of the easiest and best rental experiences I’ve had. I would absolutely rent from them again and honestly would choose this over Enterprise or Hertz any day

Fandi and our cohost provided excellent communication throughout the process. Our car, 2020 Honda Insight was clean and in good working order. Performance was good around the hills and mountains in the greater San Francisco area. The drop off at the San Jose airport was excellent. Why go to the “normal” car rental companies!
Pickups at Missoula International Airport (MSO) are quick and straight to the point. Your host will leave the rental vehicle in one of the three approved airport lots — the Short-term, Long-term, or Economy lots. Open the Turo app to find the exact stall number, grab the ticket from the console, and you're off. Prefer a personal touch? At MSO, you can also meet your host at the curbside outside the terminal for a face-to-face handoff that's done in under 5 minutes with zero time wasted at any rental car facility counter - your host will let you know if they are dropping your car off curbside.
Everything you need is in the Turo app, from the parking location to ticket instructions. Once your trip is confirmed, your host will send through all the details. Real-time location sharing activates two hours before your start time, so whether your flight's early or delayed, your host stays in the loop. If you have any last-minute questions, you can message your host directly in-app for a quick reply.
MSO charges a peer-to-peer delivery fee for all on-airport handoffs. Turo collects this and sends this fee directly to the airport — no markup, no surprises. If you need to cover the cost of parking, your host will clearly explain that on the vehicle listing. That way, you'll know exactly what you're paying for, long before you pop the trunk to stow your bags.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.
Mountain air, major milestones, or a simple weekend of river therapy — the right car can turn plans into memories. These are just a few occasions where a rented vehicle can go the distance in Missoula.
Waders, rods, and coolers — fly-fishing trips need space and grit. A midsize 4WD or SUV like a Subaru Outback has the clearance and cargo room for hauling gear down Rock Creek Road or pulling over where the trout are rising.
Making a run to Snowbowl, Lost Trail, or Discovery Ski Area? An SUV like a Toyota 4Runner gives you room for friends, powder gear, and all the après-ski snacks you can carry.
Whether it's a walk across the graduation stage at the University of Montana or a ranch wedding near Lolo Peak, a luxury sedan like a BMW 5 Series adds just the right amount of polish for your photo-finish entrance.

Missoula is a little bit wild, a little bit artsy, and very easy to fall in love with. One minute you're hiking through pine-lined trails, and the next you're sipping craft beer under fairy lights or digging into trout tacos at a riverside café. Between outdoor adventures, indie bookstores like Shakespeare & Co, and a year-round calendar of festivals, there's always something unexpected around the corner.
Rent the perfect car
Tucked just ten minutes from downtown, this sprawling wilderness is one of Missoula's most beloved escapes. Miles of well-marked trails weave through alpine meadows and toward glacial-fed lakes teeming with wildlife. Moose sightings aren't rare, and in the fall, the hillsides come to life with color. The main Rattlesnake Trail is perfect for casual hikers, while side routes like Sawmill Gulch offer steeper climbs and panoramic views. Cast a line into the cool streams or take a dip before circling back for a cold pint at KettleHouse Brewing Co. — the unofficial post-hike reward for locals.
This is where Missoula's personality really shines. Cross the Higgins Avenue Bridge and you'll find independent bookstores, art galleries, and historic theatres mix with sidewalk musicians and cozy brunch spots. Don't miss a peek inside The Wilma, a 100-year-old venue still hosting everything from indie bands to film festivals. Grab a scoop at a small-batch gelato shop like Big Dipper Ice Cream, hunt for vintage finds at retro fashion boutiques like Pink Elephant Vintage, and check out locally roasted coffee places down the block. It's the kind of neighborhood where you'll lose track of time and won't mind it a bit.
If your idea of adventure includes creaky floorboards and faded gold rush legends, make your way 40 miles east to Garnet. This well-preserved ghost town sits high in the mountains, tucked into a forested ridge that feels like it's frozen in time. Wander through empty saloons, schoolhouses, and mining cabins that whisper stories of the 1890s boomtown life. In the summer, volunteer historians bring the place to life with tales of fortune and fame. On the way back, don't forget to stop at The Montana Club Restaurant for a bison burger and a slice of homemade pie that tastes just like home.
In Montana, distances aren't measured in blocks — they're measured in playlists. Whether you're casting flies before breakfast or chasing the alpenglow in the Bitterroots, having a car rental makes the day yours to design. Before you buckle up, here's what you need to know.
Ready to pick up your car rental? Missoula Airport is the perfect starting point. Once you've landed, open the Turo app to see which lot your host has chosen — either Short-term, Long-term, or Economy — and the exact stall number. It's a short walk from the baggage claim area, with no shuttle required. Grab the ticket off the console (or wherever the host has left it), and you're off!
If you've opted for an in-person handoff instead, you can meet your host on the curbside outside the terminal. There, you'll need to swap keys in under five minutes. Then you can hit the road without any of the hassle at traditional car rental companies like long lines or complicated rental agreements.
Return the car to one of the approved parking lots that are also used for pickup. Pull a fresh ticket, park within four hours of your trip's end, and leave the car locked (via remote or in a lockbox, depending on your host's setup). Send your host the parking details through the app, including the section and stall. If you're doing a curbside return, remember: you'll need to stay with the vehicle until your host arrives. Then, once they've collected it, you can head straight for your flight.
MSO is just six miles northwest of downtown — about a 10-minute cruise down West Broadway. Unless there's post-game traffic from Washington-Grizzly Stadium, you'll be on Higgins Avenue before you even know it.
Driving in and around Missoula is generally smooth sailing, but it pays to be prepared. In town, speed limits range between 25 miles per hour (mph), while highways reach about 65–80 mph.
Expect winter weather between November and March — snowstorms are common, especially on mountain passes like Lookout or Lolo. If you're visiting in colder months, an AWD or 4WD rental is worth it, particularly for ski trips or backroads adventures.
Wildlife is part of the local scenery, so keep an eye out for deer near dawn and dusk. In summer, road construction tends to pop up without much warning — give yourself extra time when driving through rural areas. Montana also enforces hands-free laws, so mount your phone before hitting the road and save the selfies for the trailheads.
Downtown parking is refreshingly straightforward, with free on-street parking for up to two hours. You can also head to the garages on Front Street or Main Street for easy access to shops and breweries. If you're hitting a popular trailhead like Waterworks Hill or Blue Mountain, plan to arrive early — they fill up fast on sunny weekends.
Not a single one. Lucky you! Missoula is one of the few states in the U.S. that doesn't have any toll roads, so you can drive every scenic stretch — from Bitterroot Valley to Flathead Lake — without worrying about toll tags or loose change.
For traditional fill-ups, you'll find gas stations lining Broadway Street and Reserve Street, so you're never far from a quick top-up. If you're driving electric instead, you'll find chargers along the MT-200, down Reserve Street, and all around the University of Montana. Just make sure to charge up before heading into more rural areas, because chargers are harder to find the further out you go.
Yes, without any question. Public transit works for the basics, but if you’re dreaming of fly fishing at Rock Creek, hiking the Rattlesnake Trail, skiing at Snowbowl, or brewery-hopping along the Bitterroot, a car isn’t just helpful — it’s your passport to everything Missoula has to offer. Buses are limited, rideshares can be spotty, and the best spots? They’re often miles apart. With a rental on Turo, you're not bound by timetables or waiting games — you're free to chase sunrises, soak in hot springs, or take the long way home.
From scenic Sunday drives to gear-heavy outdoor weekends, Missoula travel comes in all shapes and seasons with great car rental rates to match. Luckily, so do the vehicle classes available on Turo — all ready to meet you at the airport or your preferred off-airport location.
The cost of car rental in Missoula can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Missoula, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
