How does airport pickup work near Westchester County Airport?

If you're looking for a Westchester Airport car rental, Turo offers flexible pickup options arranged to fit your schedule. After baggage claim, head to your convenient off-airport pickup spot near Westchester County Airport. Your rental car can also be delivered to your home or hotel — whichever you decided at booking.

How does drop-off work near Westchester County Airport?

At the end of your trip, drop-off near Westchester County Airport is easy and hassle-free. Just return your car at the agreed-upon location nearby — then head back to the airport to catch your departing flight. It’s a simple way to skip the busy terminal, breeze past the crowded rental counter and wrap up your trip smoothly.

How far is Westchester County Airport from Downtown White Plains?

Westchester County Airport is around 6 miles from Downtown White Plains, making it a quick 15-minute drive. If you're renting a vehicle on Turo, you can easily access the airport and the city.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in White Plains?

White Plains keeps things safe with a citywide 25 mph speed limit, except on major roads where it’s slightly higher. The city is serious about keeping sidewalks and streets clear — permits are needed for any obstructions, and unauthorized signs aren’t allowed. Enforcement is strict on speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt use, especially near schools and during events.

Busy roads like Mamaroneck Avenue and North Broadway can get crowded during rush hour, but traffic signals and signs work together to keep things moving smoothly. You’ll also notice plenty of “No Turn on Red” signs in areas with lots of pedestrians to help everyone cross safely.

Winter weather has a huge impact on driving in White Plains. The colder months bring snow and ice, making roads slippery and visibility low. The city focuses on clearing main roads first and sometimes restricts overnight parking to help with plowing. Fall can be tricky too, with wet roads and early frosts. Before you rent, it’s smart to check live road conditions and pick vehicle classes that suit the season.

What is parking like in White Plains?

There is plenty of parking in White Plains, with multiple garages and surface lots. The garages are located in key, high-demand areas of the city — two notable examples being the Chester-Maple Parking Garage on Chester Avenue and the White Plains Center Garage on Martine Avenue. While on-street metered parking can be difficult to find in the busiest parts of downtown, parking is generally available outside of peak hours.

Are there toll roads in White Plains?

Yes, White Plains is located near several major highways, including toll roads such as the New York State Thruway (I-87/I-287) and New England Thruway (I-95) — as well as toll bridges like the George Washington Bridge.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers in White Plains?

White Plains is well-equipped with plenty of gas stations and EV chargers spread throughout the city. You’ll find Level 2 chargers in public garages and lots, while there are some fast chargers at spots like Chester-Maple Garage for quick top-ups. Other public chargers are also available in residential, retail, and municipal locations like City Square, Library Garage, Hamilton-Main, Longview-Cromwell, and the North White Plains lot.

Gas stations are conveniently located across key areas — the northern corridor, central zones like Central Avenue and Lake Street, and major east–west roads such as Mamaroneck Avenue and Tarrytown Road — making it easy to keep your vehicle fueled or charged wherever you go.

Do I need to rent a car in White Plains?

To see the best of White Plains, a rental vehicle is a must. Public transportation is available, but far less efficient. Driving a car is necessary to many of the top destinations, such as Rockefeller Park and Lyndhurst Mansion. If you're flying into Westchester County Airport, Turo offers car rental options that make for a smooth, hassle-free trip. With convenient pickup near the terminal and a wide range of vehicle classes to choose from, you can start exploring right away. No need to rely on transit schedules or rideshares.

What rental car types can I find on Turo in White Plains?

Westchester County has it all. Choose from different size cars across all vehicle classes. Sturdy, large SUVs like the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Honda CR-V Hybrid handle snowy winters with ease. For summer, try a sleek Chevrolet Corvette convertible. Need a truck or van? Toyota Tacomas and Ford Transits are ready for moving or group trips. Whatever your itinerary, Turo has you covered.

How much does it cost to rent a car in White Plains?

The cost of car rental in White Plains can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in White Plains, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
