Step off the plane, catch that high-alpine chill in your lungs — that’s how Vail greets you. With car rental at Eagle County Airport on Turo, you stroll past the rental counter, find your rental vehicle in the lot, and head toward the mountains before your gloves thaw. Whether you’re sniffing out car rental deals for a midweek powder dash or lining up an upcoming rental to see summer wildflowers, securing a rental car at Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) turns the baggage claim shuffle into a short walk to your wheels.
On Turo, renting a car at EGE is easy. Browse cars online, confirm your pickup location, book your car, and get on the road sooner. With pickup locations at airports across the US, you'll be able to find the perfect car for whatever you have planned.

Enter a date and airport location in Vail, CO (or beyond), filter to find the best car for you, and read reviews from previous renters.

Rent a car for pickup at the airport, or opt for delivery to various destinations, including airports, train stations, and hotels.

Your host sends you pickup details, and you’re all set to hit the roads of Vail, CO! If you have questions, you can easily chat with your host or contact support.
The car was spotless, very comfortable, and easy to drive. Perfect both for city rides and longer trips. I highly recommend, and would definitely rent again!

The car was great, well maintained and clean. The owner is a very nice guy. We took it to Denver and everything went well

Pick up location awesome. Host was fantastic. The car was mechanically in great shape. The only issue was a cracked windshield and driver’s seat that would not go up and down. It would go back and forth.
Pickups and returns happen in the Long Term lot with one simple flow: follow signs from the airport terminal to the lot, check the app for your row and stall, and exit using the ticket left in the car. When it’s time to return your car, head to the Long Term lot—no earlier than four hours before your trip ends or within the posted limits. Pay for parking before you leave airport property (kiosks are inside Doors 3, 4, and 5, or use ParkMobile Zone 5302). Park in a legal, non-reserved stall, then message your host in the Turo app with the exact section and space number so pickup is seamless.
Book it, then button up the details in the app — which lot, which row, where the vehicle keys live, and any timing tweaks if weather rolls in. From the baggage claim area, follow the signs to the Long Term lot, locate your vehicle, and go. On return, snap checkout photos and message the stall ID; your host will find the vehicle in the same place without extra laps around the car lot.
EGE requires Turo to collect and remit to the airport a fee that allows your host to deliver a vehicle there. Turo doesn't set this fee, mark it up, or retain any portion of it. If your host requires you to cover the cost of a parking fee to enter or exit at an airport parking location, Turo requires them to disclose that information in their vehicle listing.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient airport car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at approved parking lots or garages. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.
Vail rewards people who can pivot gracefully: fresh snow at dawn, patio sun at noon, dinner plans in Edwards by dusk. Having keys in your pocket gives you room to chase what the day hands you. If you’re weighing rideshares against EGE car rental, think of this as your local cheat sheet for when rental cars make the whole trip come together.
When the forecast whispers “fresh flakes are falling,” a car means making first chair with less scramble. Roll out early, watch for chain alerts on highway signage, and slide into a spot before the garages hit capacity. On bluebird days, you can linger for that last run and still make it back on your schedule.
Ski school at nine, cocoa at three, dinner wherever the kids will actually eat. A car keeps the moving parts in order, handles grocery runs and gear shuttles, and bridges the gap between village vibes and trailheads beyond the bus loop.
No lift lines, all views. Use the car for creekside picnics, gallery crawls, and spur-of-the-moment detours through the Vail area to Minturn or downvalley. Roads are calm, parking opens up in the evenings, and the the mountains feel as calm and spacious as the season itself.

Vail does seasons like a symphony: winter crescendos with powder and active traction law alerts on the highway signs, spring hums with creek-song, summer brings wildflowers big enough to name, and fall looks hand-painted. The town’s walkable core, the free bus system, and a scenery-first pace make strolling easy, but a car opens up how far you can venture — Minturn tacos, Piney River sunsets, and trailheads that start where cell service ends. Think of this as your highlight reel, equal parts alpine polish and Rocky Mountain mischief.
Rent the perfect car
The headliner. On a stormy day, get out early; on a bluebird day, chase the sun across the slopes before slipping to the Back Bowls. Parking structures fill quickly on weekends; arrive with a plan or park farther out to savor the views.
Stone paths, après patios, and the kind of window-shopping that feels like a sport. Garages post capacity at the entrance; evenings are best for casual strolls and last-minute dinner grabs. If you’re carrying gear, pull up to unload, organize your things, then park — the free buses do the rest.
Dirt roads, glass-calm water, and a backdrop that makes you forget to speak. Check conditions before you go, pack layers, and leave extra time for detours (they're all worth it, we promise). Minturn on the way back is your reward: tacos, live music, and small-town charm with ski-town proximity.
Mountain towns move at two speeds: decisive and delighted. We're here to guide you through both. From how EGE car rental works at the airport to when to expect high seasonal demand — and even how locals weave powder mornings, parking windows, and dinner reservations together without breaking a sweat — here’s what to know before you go. If you’re packing skis or taking scenic detours, choose the right vehicle for the day: full size luxury sedans for town or spacious SUVs for gear and friends.
From the first floor baggage claim, follow the airport signs to the Long Term lot at Eagle County Regional Airport EGE. Head into the Turo app to check the row and stall; your host can share a pin if you’re not seeing it. Photograph the vehicle, use the ticket in the car to exit, and head east toward Vail. No curbside, no side quests — just a short walk from terminal to trailhead mood.
Return to the Long Term lot within posted limits (and not earlier than four hours before your end time), park legally, and pay before you leave airport property. Leave the paid ticket in the car, take checkout photos, and message your host via the Turo app the exact section and stall. That’s a car rental return built for mountain timing.
Roughly 35 miles on I-70 from Airport EGE to Vail Village — often 35–45 minutes by car in clear weather. Add time when weather conditions warrant; on storm cycles, that pretty powder slows everything and everyone.
I-70 over Vail Pass is beautiful and busy. Watch for Colorado’s traction law notices and chain law activations; when the active traction law lights up, passenger vehicle traction rules apply. The Colorado DOT will post requirements on highway signage — think adequate tread, snow-rated tires, or chains for 2WD. Keep it hands-free, leave space, and remember to take your time: the mountain isn’t going anywhere.
Village garages at Vail and Lionshead post capacity at the entrance and price with the season; on powder mornings and holidays, they fill early. If the sign says full, try nearby locations like Red Sandstone or overflow options and hop a bus. Evening parking opens up as skiers peel off; that’s your window for a mellow dinner and a stroll under the string lights.
No tolls on this corridor. The mountain express lanes live far to the east toward Denver; your airport-to-Vail run is straightforward. In storm cycles, skip shortcuts and trust the state highway; plows prioritize I-70.
Looking for gas? Top off in Gypsum or Eagle before climbing, and you’ll thank yourself if traffic builds on the pass. In the valley, fuel dots the I-70 frontage roads; prices swing with high seasonal demand, so checking local fuel prices is smart. EV drivers: look to village garages and hotels for Level 2 options, and plan a top-off after dinner so you’re set to hit the first chair.
If you’re staying slopeside on the bus loop, you can do the week on foot with the occasional rideshare. If your plans include out-of-town trailheads, ice-skating detours, or a last-minute Glenwood Springs soak (which they should), rent a car and keep the spontaneity dialed in. Mountain time favors the flexible.
Expect a wide variety across vehicle classes — compact sedans for village life and spacious SUVs for peak weeks. Named favorites at EGE Airport include Chevrolet Cruze (easy to park, budget-friendly) and Tesla Model 3 (quiet confidence on mountain roads). Filter by the following vehicle classes to match your route, luggage, and vibe for your next trip.
