Pickup near or at Airports
Anywhere you want to visit in Murrieta is possible in a rental car. Want to head to dinner at Anthony's Lounge & Ristorante? You can go in your rental vehicle without needing to wait for a rideshare service to pick you up. However, would you rather spend the afternoon at Mulligan Family Fun Center for a fun-filled day racing go-karts? You don't have to worry about a car being too small for your whole crew when you can carefully select the type of vehicle you want to rent.
No matter where your journey to the area takes you, be sure you know about driving in the region to keep the rental safe and prevent any tickets.
Back in the early 2000s, the city had four red-light cameras that automatically issued tickets to drivers who ran a stoplight. However, in 2011, voters cast ballots to remove the cameras and prohibit them. Even without automatic self-operating systems, it's important to follow the rules of the road because the Murrieta Police Department (MPD) patrols the region.
Be mindful of the speed limits. Margarita Road and Date Street have speed limits of 45 miles per hour, but if you venture onto Masters Drive or Hunter Road, the speed limit is only 25 miles per hour.
The city gets little rainfall. Much of the year, the weather in Murrieta is sunny or partially cloudy, so the driving conditions are usually fair. Flash flooding is isolated to the low-lying areas.
Traffic tends to flow well overall, but I-15 and I-215 can be congested during peak hours. Using real-traffic apps can help you identify these times so you can avoid them.
Overall, the most difficulty you'll have parking in Murrieta is getting to the amphitheater early to find good parking. You could opt for the prepaid option to make the process easier. Just so you know: If you park on a public street, you can only stay in the same space for 72 consecutive hours before you receive a fine, but you'll be on vacation and more than likely busy during your stay, so that more than likely won't be a problem.
As a word of advice, bring your keys with you. You don't want to have to pay for your vehicle and locksmith fees because you locked your keys in the car.
Rejoice! Murrieta has no toll roads. But outside of the city, you may have road fees to pay, such as if you take the Riverside Express Lanes on I-15 or the 91 Express Lanes. You, however, can't pay the tolls via credit card or cash. The state has an electronic toll collection system, so cars receive FasTrak transponders that allow drivers to go through tolls without stopping. The system records when the driver passes through one, and it'll automatically bill the account.
When you rent a car in CA, it'll usually have a transponder. You'll need to pay for the tolls accrued during your stay in Murrieta through your Turo account. If your car doesn't have a transponder, you can visit the toll agency's website, input the license plate number, and pay tolls manually.
Fortunately, the state is EV car-friendly. Charge up and go if you're renting an electric vehicle. Both level 2 and DC fast charging stations are available, so you can power up and be on your way to enjoy all the city and surrounding areas have to offer.
Some parts of the town are walkable, and public transit is available. However, to make the most of your visit to Murrieta, you'll want to rent a car. You can go wherever and whenever you like.
