LDV G10 2021

The G10 was very comfortable and spacious for our trip around Tassie (2 adults, 2 children and 2 grandparents). Great access for our multiple sight seeing with the sliding side doors. With the back seats folded down there was room for 2 large suitcases, 1 medium size case and several smaller bags. Seats were comfortable with plenty of leg room. We were looking at renting a Kia Carnival for our trip however this turned out to be a much cheaper option with waaaay more space, so packing the car every 2 days for 2 weeks was so easy. Host was friendly and responsive to messages. Only negatives are that Apple Carplay and Android don't work (dash phone cradle is supplied so you can use maps on your phone) and front sensors don't work due to previous damage but didn't affect the drive. Would happily use service again.

LDV G10 2021

Damith was a great host, punctual and easy to find delivery, with helpful and quick communication. He even followed up during our stay to make sure all was well with the vehicle. The LDV was neat, tidy and well equipped. It ran perfectly throughout our trip with no issues at all, fitting our seven person family, backpacks and our three massive suitcases

Unmissable attractions and scenic drives around Hobart

Hobart offers incredible diversity from the iconic Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) to the historic Salamanca Market and the breathtaking summit of kunanyi/Mount Wellington. You can easily reach the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, explore the historic Battery Point neighbourhood, or venture to the Cascade Brewery for tastings. Having your rental van provides complete flexibility to discover hidden gems like the Shot Tower or take scenic coastal drives to nearby beaches. Your hired van allows you to pack everything needed for day trips while moving comfortably between Hobart's cultural sites and natural wonders.

Museum of Old and New Art showcases contemporary masterpieces

MONA presents Australia's most provocative private museum featuring cutting-edge contemporary art and ancient antiquities. You'll find convenient parking available on-site, making your visit stress-free with your rental van. The scenic drive along the Derwent River offers beautiful harbour views as you approach this architectural marvel built into the cliffs.

Salamanca Place buzzes with weekend markets and historic charm

This cobblestone precinct transforms every Saturday into Tasmania's most famous market featuring local crafts, fresh produce, and artisan goods. Your hired van provides ample space for market purchases while nearby parking options make exploring these heritage sandstone warehouses convenient. The area connects easily to other Hobart attractions via well-maintained city roads.

kunanyi Mount Wellington delivers panoramic city and harbour vistas

The summit offers spectacular 360-degree views across Hobart, the Derwent River, and southern Tasmania's wilderness. You'll navigate a winding mountain road that showcases changing vegetation zones from temperate rainforest to alpine terrain. Your van hire handles the gradual ascent comfortably while providing shelter from the often-cool summit conditions.

Frequently asked questions in Hobart

Why choose a van for exploring Tasmania's wilderness areas?

Van rental in Hobart provides the perfect solution for accessing Tasmania's remote wilderness locations with ample storage for camping gear and outdoor equipment. These spacious vehicles offer comfortable seating for larger groups while navigating the island's diverse terrain from coastal areas to mountain regions. A hired van gives you the freedom to explore Tasmania's national parks and wilderness areas at your own pace without worrying about luggage space or passenger comfort.

What should first-time van drivers expect in Hobart?

First-time van drivers in Hobart should familiarise themselves with the vehicle's dimensions, particularly when navigating the city's narrow streets and historic areas. Van rental requires extra attention to height clearances under bridges and in car parks throughout the city centre. Practise reversing and parking in a safe area before venturing into busy Hobart streets, as these larger vehicles handle differently than standard cars.

How do you park a van in Hobart's city centre?

Parking a hired van in central Hobart requires careful attention to height restrictions in multi-storey car parks and clearance signs. Look for street parking spaces that accommodate longer vehicles, particularly along the waterfront areas where spaces tend to be more generous. Always check parking signs for time limits and restrictions, as some areas have specific rules for larger vehicles like rental vans.

Which van suits families versus large groups in Tasmania?

Families typically benefit from smaller vans with easy access and good fuel efficiency for exploring Tasmania's attractions and coastal drives. Large groups require spacious vans with multiple seating rows and substantial luggage capacity for extended trips across the island. Consider your group size and luggage requirements when selecting van rental options, as Tasmania's diverse destinations may require different storage needs.

How do you stay comfortable during long van journeys across Tasmania?

Comfortable van travel across Tasmania involves adjusting seats properly and taking regular breaks at scenic stops throughout the island. Plan your route to include rest areas and attractions where passengers can stretch and explore Tasmania's natural beauty. Ensure adequate ventilation and pack snacks and water for longer journeys, as some areas of Tasmania have limited facilities between towns.

What safety features should you check before driving a van in Hobart?

Before starting your van hire journey, check that mirrors are properly adjusted to account for the vehicle's larger size and any blind spots. Test the handbrake on Hobart's hilly terrain and familiarise yourself with the van's braking distance, which differs from smaller cars. Ensure all passengers understand seatbelt locations and that any cargo is properly secured before exploring Tasmania's roads.
