Choose from local London cars

When you book car hire or car rental in London on Turo, you're supporting a local London host with their small car hire company, whether they own a single car or a small portfolio of vehicles.

Many hosts offer personal drop-off and pick-up services and will meet you at Heathrow or Gatwick Airport, ready for you to hop in the car and explore London. If you're looking for van hire, you'll find plenty of these in London on Turo, too.

A range of makes and models

From a compact car that's easy to park in central London car parks to a luxury car that provides an incredible driving experience for your city adventure, you'll find an extraordinary selection of car rental choices on Turo.

When you book, you'll choose exactly the car you'll drive instead of picking a category, making finding the right rental car much easier. You can filter your search so your hire car has features like sat nav or add-ons like Apple CarPlay.

Competitive London car hire

Traditional car rental companies in London can be expensive, particularly at Heathrow Airport, central London, city centre hotspots like super-fancy Park Lane and Trafalgar Square, or if you need car hire close to public transport.

On Turo, you'll find competitive car hire in London (with no hidden costs or mandatory add-ons to catch you out) at convenient pick-up locations in the city and beyond.

Things to know about driving a car in London

If you take your London hire car into the London Congestion Drive Zone (CDZ), you'll need to pay the congestion charge, except between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

London has an Ultra Low Emission Zone, although many cars on Turo are London ULEZ compliant. If you're booking car hire for a family adventure in London, you can filter your search to find vehicles with child seats. Remember that in London and the UK, children need to use child seats until they're 12 years old or over 135 centimetres tall. And remember - don't drive in bus lanes or you might get a fine.

Rental cars available near London airports

London airports are popular locations in London to pick up a car rental, with guests flying in from overseas to explore London and beyond. Whether you're touching down at London Gatwick Airport North Terminal, South Terminal, or London Heathrow Airport, there are plenty of hosts on Turo who offer delivery and pick-up to and from major London airports.

Some hosts provide a meet-and-greet service to hand you the keys to the rental car personally. The best bit? No more queuing at a car rental counter.

Cancellation policy for Turo rental cars in London

You can cancel for a full refund up to 24 hours before your London city trip starts. If you book a trip in London less than 24 hours before the rental period starts, you have one hour after booking to cancel for free. You can cancel most trips yourself on the Turo app - open your Trips tab, find your trip, and tap to cancel. You can apply payment to a new trip or get a refund.

Way better than a rental car

The noble charisma of London

London is filled with famous attractions and locations like Big Ben, Covent Garden, and Buckingham Palace and cultural institutions like the British Museum and the Natural History Museum.

Make the most of the city and rent a car in London to explore the wealth of museums and popular attractions, like the London Eye. Peer up at Nelson's Column in Trafalgar Square (watch out for the low-flying pigeons), see where the PM lives at Downing Street, and pick up some vintage clothing in Camden Market. Or drive the Bayswater Road that runs along the northern edge of Hyde Park.

London favourites

The River Thames weaves through the city, crossed by iconic landmarks like Tower Bridge and overlooked by the London Eye. Beyond the famous landmarks, London has world-class restaurants and nightlife, so find a car park for your hire car and immerse yourself in everything the city has to offer.

Natural History Museum

Not only one of the most famous museums in London, the Natural History Museum is renowned the world over for its incredible displays of dinosaurs and interactive exhibitions within one of the city's most recognisable and spectacular buildings.

It's handy to know that the South Kensington area of London, where you'll find the museum, is outside of the London congestion charge zone.

Palace of Westminster

Book a hire car and take your own private tour of the many notable structures at Westminster, the political centre of London and home to the House of Parliament, Big Ben, and Westminster Abbey.

If you to explore some of it more closely, park your hire car in Q Park Westminster, secure underground parking just a short walk from Westminster Abbey. If you drive in this area, remember that you'll also need to pay the London congestion charge.

Buckingham Palace

Park your hire car in a car park in Central London and arrive early at Buckingham Palace to watch the famous Changing of the Guard. Stroll across Green Park, one of the Royal Parks of London, to Piccadilly before hitting Park Lane and spending some time in Hyde Park.

Plan ahead if you want to avoid the congestion charge, as there are plenty of car parks in London outside of the London congestion zone.
