Road rules and driving conditions in Launceston and Tasmania

Launceston's climate features wet and icy winter months, making summer (December to February) the best time to visit for the most favourable road conditions. If you plan to drive during winter, ensure you have essential road safety equipment (why not add on snow chains from your Turo host?).

Another tip for driving around Launceston and other Tasmanian cities is to watch for the one-way roads.

Launceston's rush hour and busiest roads

Launceston doesn't see much action in terms of rush hour, but you can expect the highways coming in and out of the city to be busier during school holidays and the warmer months as there is an influx of travellers at this time. Fortunately, Launceston's grid-like layout makes navigation straightforward.
