Carma definitely restored my faith in Tullamarine car rental companies. Hannah was super friendly. Pick and drop off was a breeze. Car got 700kms on one tank. No complaints at all. Thanks team!

Absolutely! Here’s a review you could post: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Cruise Port Car Rental for Exploring Hilo We rented a car during our cruise stop in Hilo, and the entire experience was incredibly easy. The rental location was just a short walk from the cruise port, conveniently located across from the general store, making pickup and drop-off simple and stress-free. The car was clean, reliable, and perfect for exploring the island. We spent the day driving through the lush scenery of the Big Island and visiting the breathtaking Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Having our own vehicle gave us the freedom to stop whenever we wanted for photos, scenic overlooks, and local attractions. If you’re arriving by cruise ship and want to make the most of your time in Hilo, I highly recommend renting a car here. It was one of the highlights of our trip and allowed us to experience so much more of the island than we could have otherwise. We would definitely rent from them again on our next visit! 🌋🚗 A fantastic way to see the Big Island in just one day!
I will break my car rental experience (November, 2025) into 3 parts: Turo, car provider and vehicle. Turo. First time to use this app. Overall, simple and intuitive to use. It is a good option when compared to the traditional car rental companies. It was really nice not having to wait at the service rental counter. Car provider. Once you finish with the Turo process, you finalize all the details with the car owner. Daniel was exceptional to work with. He was timely and thorough with his responses to all my inquiries. Our flight arrived earlier than scheduled. I contacted Daniel and he had the car immediately available for my use. He was honest and trustworthy. At the end of the trip, I identified what I thought was a new chip in the paint. He reported it was present before the rental and not an issue. There is comfort in knowing there was no hidden agenda. Vehicle, Toyota Corolla, 2015. Don't let the age or size of the car deter you. The car was clean, dependable and satisfied all of my needs for 2 people. Hawaii may be dramatic with its natural wonders, but it is stingy with the parking spaces and roads (think road to Hana and Haleakala Volcano). We were happy to be driving this car instead of the SUVs and Jeeps that populated the parking lots and narrow, twisting roads. Overall, I would recommend Turo and HIGHLY recommend Daniel and his Toyota Corolla for your car rental needs in Maui.

Everything about this trip and this car rental was amazing. It was very easy to pick up the car. The car was very clean and have a full tank of gas. I would absolutely rent a car with turtle again.
Great car rental service with wonderful customer service! Me and my wife got a nice camaro ss , we drove around the island with the top down and had an amazing time. The best customer service ever, got some tips to make our trip easier. Definitely will rent a car for next vacation with them.
David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)
This trip was amazing because of our car rental. It was super clean and drove really well. Great on gas. The host was also very attentive and nice :) 10/10 recommend.

The car was spotless, well maintained, and drove beautifully. Pick up was quick and easy. The car owner was friendly and also offered, and dropped us off to the airport as we had traveled from Melbourne. The car was exactly what I needed comfortable, fuel efficient, and reliable. Would absolutely rent from here again and highly recommend to anyone looking for a hassle-free car rental experience.

Amazing experience with both the car and the host! The vehicle was clean, well maintained, and exactly as described. Everything worked perfectly, and the car made the trip even more enjoyable. The host was very friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout the whole rental process. Communication was easy, pickup and drop-off were smooth, and overall everything felt professional and stress-free. Highly recommend renting from this host — definitely would book again!
Pick up was easy, car was very tidy, car was well maintained. Best car rental so far 🫡
Great service. Car was perfect. So much easier than dealing with rental cars
I enjoyed using this car for my solo trip to Brisbane and back. Easy to use. Has built in navigation and Bluetooth to connect my phone (for music). Host was easy to deal with. Responded promptly. Price also good.

Absolutely amazing experience renting this Mustang through Turo! The car was clean, well-maintained, and an absolute blast to drive. Everything about the rental process was smooth and easy from start to finish. The owner was incredibly friendly, responsive, and made the whole experience stress-free. You can tell they really care about both the vehicle and their guests. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend this Mustang to anyone looking for a fun and reliable ride!
Car quality was awesome. Comfortable and spacious and neatly tidy and well taken care of. Car rental was awesome and smooth and easy and comfortable. Thank you so much Zerin! Mahalo. Hope to rent from you again for more trips coming up.
Very happy with my car rental. Vehicle worked great for going around the island. the pickup and drop off process was super easy and smooth and the host very reliable. Would rent again.
Every thing went smoothly fast easy pick up, car was immaculate, & great value , overall great car rental experience
The host gave us clear instructions and communicated with us very well for a hassle-free car rental!

The car did everything we needed it to do. We felt like a local, the car was certainly clean for the price. I would rent again because the price was right and it was great on gas. Like an ant sipping water. Pick up and drop off was easy enough. Took us a few min to find the car then it was very easy to drop off. Mahalo.

Hobart is a small city with a big impact, offering a chilled-out culture, beautiful scenery, preserved pockets of local heritage, and a thriving food and arts scene. You'll find plenty to explore here, from the waterfront precinct in the CBD to colonial-era architecture, distillery tours, harbour cruises and more. Because Hobart is so compact, it's easy to see in just a few days — but don't forget to check out some of the region's amazing day trips, too.
Rent the perfect car
The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is one of Australia's most talked-about galleries, known for its cutting-edge exhibitions and bold, unconventional displays. Arrive by car or ferry and take your time exploring the underground galleries, outdoor installations, and waterfront grounds. Don't forget to check out one of the museum's bars or restaurants, offering everything from casual light meals to fine dining.
Every Saturday, Salamanca Market brings Hobart's creative community together in a lively open-air setting. Wander past rows of local produce, handmade goods, and Tassie-designed crafts, all set against the backdrop of historic sandstone warehouses. Be sure to grab a famous scallop pie from Smith's and take home some antipasto or preserves to accompany your next wine and cheese night.
Just a short drive from the CBD, kunanyi / Mount Wellington offers majestic views across Hobart, the Derwent River, and Tasmania's rugged coastline. The summit lookout provides stunning panoramas in any season, while the mountain's trails and picnic spots make it ideal for a quick city escape. Whatever you do, don't forget an extra layer — even in summer, conditions at the top can turn on a dime.
Before you hit the road, it's helpful to understand the local driving conditions, speed limits, and a few uniquely Tasmanian quirks. Here's what to expect when driving around Hobart.
For a smooth car hire experience, book through Turo and organise a convenient pickup location close to Hobart Airport. Once your booking is confirmed, check the Turo app to confirm your collection spot. When you land, exit the airport terminal and head to your agreed nearby pickup location to meet your host or grab the keys from a secure drop box. You'll be on your way to seeing this beautiful place in no time!
At the end of your trip, return the vehicle to the same location you collected it from, or arrange an alternative nearby spot with your host ahead of time. Leave the keys securely as instructed, and if parking in a garage, make sure the ticket is left inside the vehicle to allow for a smooth exit.
Hobart Airport is roughly 17 kilometres from the city centre, usually a 20 to 25 minute drive via the Tasman Highway. Traffic tends to be light, making it an easy (and scenic!) journey into town.
Driving in Hobart is laid-back and straightforward, with the same road rules you'll find across the rest of Australia. Speed limits are clearly signed, school zones operate on typical schedules during weekdays, and touching your phone while driving is strictly prohibited. Be sure to always stick to the left-hand side of the road, wear a seat belt, and obey road signage. In most parts of the country, speed limits start at 40 kilometres per hour (km/h) in school zones, followed by 50 km/h in residential and built-up areas, 60 to 80 km/h on larger roads, and 100 to 110 km/h on freeways.
Tassie has a few unique road rules for first-time drivers to be aware of, too — for example, you must not exceed a speed of 20 km/h when turning at a traffic light. There's also the 'zip merge' manoeuvre, which dictates that you must give way to any vehicle ahead of you when the number of lanes is reduced (on roads without lane markings only).
Road conditions are generally excellent in Hobart, although you may encounter narrower streets in historic neighbourhoods like Battery Point and South Hobart. Exercise caution on winding roads, especially if you're heading up to kunanyi (Mount Wellington) or exploring the Huon Valley, where the weather can change at the drop of a hat.
Hobart's compact layout means traffic flows well, but peak-hour bottlenecks around the Tasman Highway and Davey Street are common. Allow extra time during ferry and cruise ship arrivals and major events like Dark Mofo. If you're travelling further afield to towns like Launceston or Devonport, highways are well-maintained but have remote sections, so plan fuel stops in advance.
Parking in Hobart is generally easy, with plenty of paid and free options depending on where you're headed. The Centrepoint Car Park (Centrepoint Arcade), Hobart Central Car Park (60 Melville Street), and Argyle Street Car Park (38 Argyle Street) are all reliable choices in the CBD, offering affordable short- and long-term stays.
For waterfront access, try the Market Place Car Park (6 Market Place) or on-street paid parking around Morrison Street and Battery Point. During the Saturday Salamanca Markets, street parking fills up quickly and early — aim for a nearby multi-storey parking garage to avoid the rush, or consider parking a few blocks away and walking in.
No, there are no toll roads in Hobart or the entire state of Tasmania, so you can explore at your leisure without worrying about fees.
While Hobart is small, you're never far away from fuel or a quick charge-up. If you're driving a petrol-based vehicle, you'll find options throughout the city centre and across the suburbs. Near the CBD, try the Shell at 257 Elizabeth Street, the Ampol at 152-158 Antill Street, or the United at 149 Sandy Bay Road.
EV drivers can access chargers at the Hobart Central Car Park, the Centrepoint Car Park, and the Argyle Street Car Park in the city centre. There are also a handful of independently owned chargers around Hobart from providers like Chargefox, Tesla, and EVERTY. Many hotels and shopping centres are also expanding their EV infrastructure, so as time goes on, juicing up your electric vehicle in Hobart is bound to become even easier.
Hobart's bus network covers the main suburbs, and the CBD is walkable, but a rental car will give you much more freedom. Many of the region's best experiences, including Richmond, the Derwent Valley, Bruny Island, and Tasmania's stunning beaches, are only accessible by car. If you want to explore at your own pace and avoid relying on limited bus schedules, lock in a car rental at Hobart Airport using Turo and enjoy total freedom.
Booking your rental car at Hobart Airport using Turo gives you access to a wide range of vehicles listed by local hosts — from compact cars and luxury cars to full-size SUVs, minivan rentals, electric cars, and even commercial vehicles like cargo vans.
If you're just staying local, choose something zippy and fuel-efficient to run around town in, like the MG3 or the Ford Mustang. Need more space for passengers, luggage, or equipment? Go for the Nissan X-Trail SUV or the KIA Carnival van.
Unlike other car rental companies, when you choose Turo, you're guaranteeing convenience, freedom, and flexibility on your trip. You'll always receive the exact car you selected at checkout with no unexpected substitutions or 'similar vehicles' — and always at affordable rates.
The cost of car rental in Hobart can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rental in Hobart, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
