Shane was able to make my short notice rental happen after Enterprise told me that they had no rentals available even though I had a “confirmed” rental. Flexible and easy to deal with. Car rental price was comparable to Enterprise too.

The car was great! A very comfortable ride, and was very clean upon arrival. I ended up driving through a lot of rain during my trip, and was overjoyed when I noticed that the rain on the windshield was beading (i.e., it had RainX!) So helpful. The pickup/drop could not have been easier - it was delivered ahead of schedule right where I asked for it; the lockbox on the car with the keys was super simple. Having to spend less than 10 minutes coordinating is invaluable to me, especially when a car rental experience can be *significantly loger. Ashley was an awesome host and would absolutely recommend her!

Pickup & return areas at TUL

At Tulsa International Airport (TUL), vehicle pickup and return are permitted only in the Economy Lot, Parking Garage (Levels 1 and 3), and Valet Parking. The Rideshare area and Level 2 of the garage are off-limits, so proceed directly to the approved areas. Use the Turo app to confirm where your car is parked, and follow airport signs accordingly. Your host will leave a garage ticket in the vehicle for a swift exit: no kiosk, no line, no fuss.

Communicate with your host

Clear communication ensures a smooth experience from check-in to drop-off. Use Turo’s in-app messaging to confirm your vehicle’s location, including the garage, level, and stall number. Returning your rental car? Send your host a quick message via the Turo app with the parking details before locking up the vehicle keys securely, either in a host-provided lockbox or via remote lock, if available. It’s streamlined, simple, and entirely counter-free.

Parking & airport fees

Turo collects a mandatory fee on behalf of Tulsa International Airport for all vehicle deliveries on airport property. This isn’t marked up or retained — it’s simply passed on, as required. If your host charges for parking garage fees, you’ll see that clearly noted in the vehicle listing before you book. Transparency is part of the Turo experience, so you’ll never be left guessing what you’re paying for.

Things to do and places to see in Tulsa, OK

Tulsa isn’t just a pit stop between coasts. It’s a cultural cocktail shaken with cowboy charm and art deco swagger. From jazz-age architecture to unexpectedly world-class art, this Oklahoma gem begs to be explored with the windows down and the playlist up. From Cain’s Ballroom (a legendary dance hall once graced by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys) to the Route 66 Historical Village, Tulsa’s attractions are delightfully spread out, making a rental car less of a luxury and more of a logistical necessity.

Gathering Place

This is no ordinary park — it’s a 66.5-acre architectural wonderland that blends treehouses with Tulsa skyline views. Gathering Place is part playground, part sculpture garden, and part riverside retreat. Drive your car rental straight to Riverside Drive, find a shady spot to park, and prepare to wander through Tulsa’s answer to Central Park (minus the pigeons and the overpriced pretzels).

Philbrook Museum of Art

A 1920s Italian-style villa turned museum, Philbrook is what happens when oil barons develop a taste for fine art and manicured gardens. Inside, you'll find works from Picasso to Native American masters. Outside, the grounds are straight out of a European estate. It’s a five-minute drive from downtown, but a full passport away from the ordinary.

Blue Dome District

Once a sleepy warehouse corridor, the Blue Dome District has reinvented itself as Tulsa’s nightlife and foodie hub. Park your rental near the iconic Blue Dome building (you’ll know it when you see it), then sample craft brews, street tacos, and live music until your feet (or your appetite) give out. It’s walkable, eclectic, and utterly unbothered by big-city pretense.

Top tips for renting a car in Tulsa

Tulsa might not shout for attention like its coastal cousins, but that’s part of the charm. Here, art deco architecture meets Americana grit, and the best way to experience it all? Behind the wheel. Whether you're in town for a barbecue, business, or a bit of both, these tips will make your car rental at Tulsa Airport experience smooth and stylish.

How does airport pickup work at Tulsa International Airport?

On Turo, picking up a rental car at Tulsa International Airport (TUL) is refreshingly painless. After landing, skip the rental counter entirely and head to one of the approved pickup zones: the Economy Lot, Valet Parking, or Parking Garage Levels 1 or 3. Check the Turo app for exact location details, and grab the garage ticket your host left in the vehicle. It’s Tulsa’s version of a red carpet rollout, minus the paparazzi.

How does drop-off work at Tulsa International Airport?

Returning your rental vehicle is equally seamless. Drive to one of the approved areas (Economy, Valet, or Levels 1 and 3 of the garage), pull a ticket, and leave it in the car for your host. Then, message your host via the Turo app with the garage section and stall number before locking up securely. No shuttle buses, no drop box drama: just a clean, courteous goodbye.

How far is Tulsa International Airport from Downtown Tulsa?

TUL is conveniently located about eight miles from Downtown Tulsa, translating to a 15-minute drive — unless you’re tempted to take the scenic route down Route 66. With a rental car, you're downtown before your playlist even gets to the second chorus.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Tulsa?

Driving in Tulsa is generally relaxed, with speed limits typically set at 25–35 mph in residential areas and up to 65–70 mph on highways. Roads are wide, signage is clear, and while locals are polite, you’ll still want to use your turn signals like your driver’s ed teacher is watching. Just keep an eye out for sudden construction zones and the occasional lane drift.

What is parking like in Tulsa?

Compared to the headaches of bigger cities, parking in Tulsa is refreshingly manageable. In Downtown Tulsa, metered street parking is common but reasonably priced, while garages like the Williams Center and One Place Tower offer plenty of spaces near top attractions. Planning to wander the Blue Dome District? Arrive early, or embrace a short stroll. The tacos are worth it.

Are there toll roads in Tulsa?

Oklahoma is home to several toll roads, and Tulsa is no exception. If you’re heading out on US-412, I-44 (Turner Turnpike), or parts of US-169, expect toll booths or electronic toll systems. Check whether your Turo rental vehicle includes a toll pass or if you'll need to pay tolls electronically.

Where can I find gas stations and EV chargers in Tulsa?

Fueling up is easy in Tulsa, with QuikTrip, Conoco, and Phillips 66 stations peppered throughout the city— especially near 11th Street and Peoria Avenue. For EV drivers, public chargers can be found at places like the Tulsa Arts District, Whole Foods on Brookside, and even in the parking structure at City Hall. Tulsa’s leaning into green without losing its grit.

Do I need to rent a car in Tulsa?

Unless you plan to stay glued to your hotel lobby, a rental car in Tulsa is highly recommended. Public transit is limited, and many of the city’s highlights (from Gathering Place to Philbrook Museum) are spread out. With a car, you can explore Tulsa at your own rhythm, soundtrack, and snack schedule. Turo makes it easy to book the best rental car for your trip, so you can drive like a local, even if you’re just here for the weekend.

What rental car types can I find on Turo in Tulsa?

From cross-country haulers to curbside head-turners, the car rental options on Turo in Tulsa cover just about every kind of adventure. Need room for a crew? The Dodge Grand Caravan or Hyundai Santa Fe Sport are road-trip ready. For pickup power with style, the Ram 1500 delivers. Prefer electric refinement? The Tesla Model 3 is quiet, quick, and charger-friendly. And for versatility that handles Oklahoma highways and creekside detours alike, the Nissan Pathfinder ticks all the boxes. Whether you’re hauling gear, gliding through downtown, or making a bold entrance at a wedding, you'll find your perfect fit on Turo.

How much does it cost to rent a car in Tulsa?

The cost of car rental in Tulsa can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rentals in Tulsa, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
