Absolutely fantastic. See the end for a list of features, pros and cons. It's a well driven car at roughly 340,000km but had zero issue the entire trip. When not thinking about fuel economy it uses 7L/100km and that's going over the mountains, when prioritising fuel economy we got it down to 5.2L/100km turning what would be a $400 trip into only $270 of fuel. The car was presented to us absolutely spotless inside and clean outside with a couple scrapes on the outside that don't affect anything (who cares, we spend the whole trip inside anyway). The car does make a slight knocking sound from time to time whilst in park, but it doesn't affect anything (and we drove over 2,000km in a few days so would have noticed something if it was anything major.. the owner assures us it's only in park and has been checked and is safe. The owner also worked with my extrodinarily poor planning and allowed me to make 2 minor adjustments last minute at no cost which saved our a** so much, if course they were small adjustments. This was by far the best car rental experience I have had in my 7 years of renting cars, I haven't rented in a few years since working FIFO and was honestly worried I was going to have a poor experience but this was certainly a great experience. I will most certainly be renting from this person again when I need a car for a long trip, it was just simply simple, the car was great, fuel efficiency on this particular car was great, boot room was great, etc. Features/pros - Wagon, heaps of room, seats fold down to completely flat, we were able to comfortably sleep in the back during a rest stop. - great fuel economy. 7L/100 standard, able to get down to 5.2L/100km when trying to keep it low. (1050km range to a tank) - Bluetooth, decent sound system, we cranked it up and blasted music the whole way, clear enough and loud enough for audiobooks and podcasts too. - VERY comfortable long distance. We drove 8 hours straight with only 2 15 minute toilet breaks and then done the same on return. - spotless interior - easy to deal with owner Cons - lights are kinda dim but not as bad as other reviews state,, just make sure the headlight level adjustment is set to the high position and it's fine, it was set to low by the last person so no wonder it was hard to see. - clanking noise in park, but it has zero effect on the car, we prove that over a 2100km drive. - srape on left side of vehicle. (No effect on anything. So yeah, not really a cons list There are more pros but my phone is about to die. Just thought I'd say the stuff I wish all reviews had

Navigating Melbourne's peak hour traffic requires some savvy planning. Mornings (7-9 AM) and evenings (4-6 PM) typically see the heaviest congestion. If possible, plan your trips outside these hours or allow extra time for your journey. Utilising Melbourne's excellent public transport system can be a smart alternative during peak times. When driving is necessary, stay informed about current traffic conditions through radio updates or navigation apps. Be prepared for tram routes and hook turns, unique features of Melbourne's road system. Patience is key; maintain a safe following distance and be courteous to other drivers. Whether you're in a compact car or a larger vehicle like an SUV, always be mindful of cyclists and pedestrians, especially in the bustling CBD area.
Victoria's weather can be quite variable, so it's crucial to be prepared for different conditions while driving. In summer, ensure your vehicle's air conditioning is working efficiently to combat the heat. During winter, be ready for potential frost or fog, especially in the early mornings. It's wise to check weather forecasts before embarking on longer trips. If rain is expected, ensure your windscreen wipers are in good condition. For those venturing into alpine regions, snow chains might be necessary for your car or SUV during winter months. Always carry water and sunscreen, regardless of the season. Adjusting your driving style to suit the weather conditions is essential – slow down in wet or foggy conditions and increase your following distance. Being prepared for Victoria's diverse weather will enhance your driving experience and safety.
Driving in Sunshine's suburban areas differs significantly from navigating Melbourne's bustling city centre. Sunshine offers a more relaxed driving experience with wider roads and less congestion, making it easier to manoeuvre larger vehicles like SUVs or vans. Parking is generally more abundant and often free in suburban areas. In contrast, Melbourne's CBD features a grid layout with more complex traffic patterns, including tram lines and hook turns. City driving requires heightened awareness of pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport. Parking in the city centre can be challenging and costly, often requiring use of parking garages or metered spots. Speed limits tend to be lower in the CBD compared to suburban areas. Whether you're in a compact car or a luxury vehicle, adapting your driving style to these different environments is key for a smooth experience.
Planning a road trip from Sunshine to explore Victoria requires thoughtful preparation. Start by mapping out your route and identifying key attractions or stops along the way. Research the road conditions and any potential road works that might affect your journey. Ensure your chosen vehicle, whether it's a reliable SUV or a comfortable car, is in good condition before setting off. Pack essentials like water, snacks, and a first-aid kit. It's wise to download offline maps or bring a physical map as backup. Plan your fuel stops, especially when venturing into more remote areas. Consider the time of year and pack appropriate clothing for Victoria's changeable weather. Lastly, build some flexibility into your itinerary to allow for unexpected discoveries or delays, enhancing the spontaneity and enjoyment of your road trip adventure.
