Absolutely! Here’s a review you could post: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect Cruise Port Car Rental for Exploring Hilo We rented a car during our cruise stop in Hilo, and the entire experience was incredibly easy. The rental location was just a short walk from the cruise port, conveniently located across from the general store, making pickup and drop-off simple and stress-free. The car was clean, reliable, and perfect for exploring the island. We spent the day driving through the lush scenery of the Big Island and visiting the breathtaking Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. Having our own vehicle gave us the freedom to stop whenever we wanted for photos, scenic overlooks, and local attractions. If you’re arriving by cruise ship and want to make the most of your time in Hilo, I highly recommend renting a car here. It was one of the highlights of our trip and allowed us to experience so much more of the island than we could have otherwise. We would definitely rent from them again on our next visit! 🌋🚗 A fantastic way to see the Big Island in just one day!

I will break my car rental experience (November, 2025) into 3 parts: Turo, car provider and vehicle. Turo. First time to use this app. Overall, simple and intuitive to use. It is a good option when compared to the traditional car rental companies. It was really nice not having to wait at the service rental counter. Car provider. Once you finish with the Turo process, you finalize all the details with the car owner. Daniel was exceptional to work with. He was timely and thorough with his responses to all my inquiries. Our flight arrived earlier than scheduled. I contacted Daniel and he had the car immediately available for my use. He was honest and trustworthy. At the end of the trip, I identified what I thought was a new chip in the paint. He reported it was present before the rental and not an issue. There is comfort in knowing there was no hidden agenda. Vehicle, Toyota Corolla, 2015. Don't let the age or size of the car deter you. The car was clean, dependable and satisfied all of my needs for 2 people. Hawaii may be dramatic with its natural wonders, but it is stingy with the parking spaces and roads (think road to Hana and Haleakala Volcano). We were happy to be driving this car instead of the SUVs and Jeeps that populated the parking lots and narrow, twisting roads. Overall, I would recommend Turo and HIGHLY recommend Daniel and his Toyota Corolla for your car rental needs in Maui.

David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)

Utilise Melbourne's excellent public transport system for inner-city travel during busy periods, then use your hired car for outer suburb adventures. When driving, keep an eye out for clearways and hook turns, unique to Melbourne's CBD. Apps and GPS can provide real-time traffic updates, helping you avoid congestion. Parking can be challenging in the city centre, so research parking options in advance. By combining smart timing, route planning, and occasionally mixing car use with public transport, you can efficiently explore Melbourne while minimising traffic frustrations.

For exploring East Melbourne and its surroundings, a range of car types can suit different needs. A compact or mid-size car is ideal for city driving, offering easy manoeuvrability in Melbourne's busy streets and fitting into tight parking spots. If you're planning to venture beyond the city, an SUV might be more comfortable, providing better visibility and handling for longer drives. What should guests know about gas stations and fuel availability when driving in Victoria?

When driving in Victoria, guests should be aware that fuel stations are generally plentiful in urban areas like Melbourne, but can be more spread out in rural regions. It's wise to keep your tank at least half full when venturing into the countryside. Many stations in Victoria are self-service, and most accept credit cards at the pump. Fuel prices can vary significantly between urban and rural areas, so it's worth comparing prices. Some stations offer discounts if you have a supermarket loyalty card. In more remote areas, it's advisable to fuel up when you see a station, as the next one might be far. Also, be aware that some smaller towns might have limited operating hours for their fuel stations.

Are there any challenging driving areas or situations to be aware of in Melbourne's city centre?

Melbourne's city centre presents unique driving challenges that visitors should be prepared for. The most notable is the hook turn, a right-turn manoeuvre from the left lane, used at some intersections to accommodate tram lines. Tram tracks themselves require caution, especially in wet conditions. The CBD's grid layout includes many one-way streets, which can be confusing for newcomers. Clearways, which prohibit parking during peak hours, are strictly enforced. Pedestrian-friendly areas like Bourke Street Mall are closed to general traffic. During events at venues like the MCG, traffic can become heavily congested. Lastly, be aware of the 40 km/h speed limit in the city centre and watch for cyclists, as Melbourne has a strong bike culture.

How can travellers plan an enjoyable road trip from East Melbourne to other parts of Victoria?

Planning a road trip from East Melbourne to other parts of Victoria can be an exciting adventure. Start by choosing a destination that aligns with your interests, whether it's the coastal beauty of the Great Ocean Road, the wineries of the Yarra Valley, or the historic goldfields around Ballarat. Research your route, including potential stops for sightseeing, dining, or breaks. Consider the season, as some areas like the Alpine regions are particularly beautiful in certain months. Pack essentials like snacks, water, and a first-aid kit. Plan your accommodations in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons. Don't forget to check your vehicle before departing, ensuring it's ready for the journey. Lastly, allow flexibility in your schedule to explore unexpected discoveries along the way, truly embracing the spirit of a Victorian road trip.

What are some key differences between driving in Melbourne's urban areas versus rural Victorian roads?

Driving in Melbourne's urban areas differs significantly from rural Victorian roads. In the city, you'll encounter more traffic, complex intersections with trams, and strict parking regulations. Urban speed limits are generally lower, and you'll need to be alert for pedestrians and cyclists. Rural driving, on the other hand, involves higher speed limits on highways but requires caution for wildlife, especially at dawn and dusk. Country roads can be narrower and may have unsealed sections. In rural areas, fuel stations and services are less frequent, so planning ahead is crucial. Weather can also play a bigger role on country roads, with potential for fog or bushfire smoke. Urban driving demands constant alertness in a busy environment, while rural driving requires sustained focus over longer distances.
