David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)

Mr. John upgraded my rental car free of charge, which let me experience the charm of a GT for the first time. This Mustang made my Great Ocean Road trip incredibly enjoyable. Meanwhile, Mr. John thoughtfully prepared an umbrella and water in the car. I will definitely rent a car from him again when I come to Melbourne next time.

Kia CERATO 2019

The car rental process was very easy and smooth. Suraj, the owner, personally brought the car key to the meeting point, which I really appreciated. I prefer this much more than using a lockbox, as I’ve had issues with passcodes before. The car was clean, easy to use, and very comfortable to drive. Communication with the owner was excellent — he was easy to contact and replied to messages quickly. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely recommend this rental.

Fantastic host! Super polite and a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Great communication, pick up and drop off process was a breeze. Cars are clean and well presented. This is my second hire with this host and both cars have had a high quality phone mount already in the vehicle, (inclusive and not charged as an extra) a non-negotiable for me to use gps safely while driving. Happy to hire with this host again!

Holden BARINA 2013

Great car, runs smoothly and good to get around the city and out of the city on a longer haul. Some minor parts not quite at full function such as the side mirror tilting (this could be fixed by changing the angle by hand) but primarily these were cosmetic. Pick up was really easy, once I figured out the lock box, bluetooth functionality worked and car was comfortable and warm to drive, and clean to arrive at. Overall great value and great location, would rent again.

Brilliant car. Honestly one of the best ive driven. It is very fuel efficient but gutsy at the same time. This car is more than it first appears to be on the surface, genuinely loaded with features and yet it sips fuel. Would definitely drive this again so thank you to the owner for the opportunity.

This is possibly my new favourite thing regarding car hire, I only came across Turo last week, when I need to book a car late Sunday night for an early Monday start, and could not find any of the traditional car hire places open or able to accomodate, unless I went to the airport. I found Turo and Ajay and booked my car very late Sunday night and hoped for the best for 7am start, Ajay responded immediately, a convenient pick up location, a super convenient process, car was immaculate, and to top it all off, I was able to end the journey at my place and Ajay came and met me at mine to take back the car, so I did not have to worry about transport back to mine. Phenonemal platform and even more than phenomenal host, I willl never use a traditional car hire place again, (note here that not every Turo experience seems great with lots of hosts appearing to cancel with little notice, not Ajay) book, book, book ... highly highly recommended.

Are there any challenging driving areas or situations to be aware of when driving in Melbourne?

When driving in Melbourne, there are several challenging situations to be aware of. Hook turns, unique to Melbourne's CBD, can be confusing for first-time visitors; these require turning right from the left lane at certain intersections. Tram lines running through the city can also be tricky; always give way to trams and watch for passengers boarding and alighting. During wet weather, roads can become slippery, so adjust your driving accordingly. In Brunswick East and surrounding areas, watch out for cyclists, as Melbourne has a strong cycling culture. Narrow laneways in inner suburbs can be challenging to navigate, especially in larger vehicles. Always be prepared for sudden lane merges and be extra cautious during peak hours when traffic can be intense and unpredictable.

What should drivers know about gas stations and refuelling options in Brunswick East?

Drivers in Brunswick East have several refuelling options available. There are petrol stations located along major roads like Lygon Street and Sydney Road. It's advisable to keep your hired car's fuel tank at least half full, especially if planning longer trips. Many stations offer self-service pumps, and it's common to pay after filling up. Some supermarkets in the area offer fuel discounts with grocery purchases, which can be a good way to save on petrol costs. For those driving electric vehicles, charging stations are becoming more common in Melbourne, with some located in nearby suburbs. It's a good idea to familiarise yourself with the locations of petrol stations near your accommodation or along your planned routes to avoid running low on fuel.

How can renters prepare for various weather conditions while driving in Victoria?

Preparing for Victoria's diverse weather conditions is crucial for a safe and enjoyable driving experience. Melbourne is known for its "four seasons in one day," so flexibility is key. When hiring a car, consider one with good air conditioning for hot summer days and efficient heating for chilly winters. Always check the weather forecast before setting out, especially for longer trips. In rainy conditions, which can occur suddenly, ensure your vehicle's wipers are in good condition and reduce your speed. During the warmer months, be prepared for potential bushfire warnings and plan alternative routes if necessary. In winter, while snow is rare in Brunswick East, it's not uncommon in higher elevations of Victoria, so be prepared if venturing to these areas. Regardless of the season, always carry water and appropriate clothing in your vehicle.

What are some key differences between driving in Brunswick East and navigating Melbourne's city centre?

Driving in Brunswick East differs significantly from navigating Melbourne's city centre. Brunswick East has a more relaxed, suburban feel with wider streets and less congestion compared to the CBD. Parking is generally easier to find in Brunswick East, often with longer time limits. In contrast, Melbourne's city centre features hook turns, tram-only lanes, and more complex traffic patterns. Brunswick East has fewer one-way streets and no hook turns, making it easier for those unfamiliar with Melbourne's unique driving rules. However, both areas require vigilance for cyclists and pedestrians. While Brunswick East offers a mix of residential and commercial areas, the city centre is densely packed with high-rise buildings and constant pedestrian activity. Adapting your driving style between these areas is key to a smooth car hire experience in Melbourne.
