David was communicative, pickup and drop off was easy with clear instructions, car drove well, overall very satisfied with our experience. Great cost friendly alternative to bigger car rental companies with a lot more flexibility, but come with the right expectations (i.e. don't expect a squeaky clean car)

Mr. John upgraded my rental car free of charge, which let me experience the charm of a GT for the first time. This Mustang made my Great Ocean Road trip incredibly enjoyable. Meanwhile, Mr. John thoughtfully prepared an umbrella and water in the car. I will definitely rent a car from him again when I come to Melbourne next time.

The trip was amazing! The car works really well. It was a little bit dirty but nothing too crazy. I’ll rent again🌟
The car rental process was very easy and smooth. Suraj, the owner, personally brought the car key to the meeting point, which I really appreciated. I prefer this much more than using a lockbox, as I’ve had issues with passcodes before. The car was clean, easy to use, and very comfortable to drive. Communication with the owner was excellent — he was easy to contact and replied to messages quickly. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely recommend this rental.

Car was in great, clean condition and drove perfectly. A great 1.5 day trip with great liason with the host who greets you on departure and arrival. Thanks a lot!

Car was amazing, it really accomodate what we need as a couple who want to do romantic road trip drive thru great ocean road. Suspension still good and powerfull too. Pick up in and out also went smoothly. Thank you Kay.

Great car, runs smoothly and good to get around the city and out of the city on a longer haul. Some minor parts not quite at full function such as the side mirror tilting (this could be fixed by changing the angle by hand) but primarily these were cosmetic. Pick up was really easy, once I figured out the lock box, bluetooth functionality worked and car was comfortable and warm to drive, and clean to arrive at. Overall great value and great location, would rent again.

Checkin and Checkout process very straightforward forward. Car is exactly as expected, very fun to drive. Car was clean and presents as neatly as it does in the photos. Host is very responsive which is always a big plus. Great car to take when zipping through country roads and very convenient for Melbourne city driving. Had a great time. will definitely keep this in mind for the next time we need a rental.
This is possibly my new favourite thing regarding car hire, I only came across Turo last week, when I need to book a car late Sunday night for an early Monday start, and could not find any of the traditional car hire places open or able to accomodate, unless I went to the airport. I found Turo and Ajay and booked my car very late Sunday night and hoped for the best for 7am start, Ajay responded immediately, a convenient pick up location, a super convenient process, car was immaculate, and to top it all off, I was able to end the journey at my place and Ajay came and met me at mine to take back the car, so I did not have to worry about transport back to mine. Phenonemal platform and even more than phenomenal host, I willl never use a traditional car hire place again, (note here that not every Turo experience seems great with lots of hosts appearing to cancel with little notice, not Ajay) book, book, book ... highly highly recommended.

Brilliant car. Honestly one of the best ive driven. It is very fuel efficient but gutsy at the same time. This car is more than it first appears to be on the surface, genuinely loaded with features and yet it sips fuel. Would definitely drive this again so thank you to the owner for the opportunity.

I recently rented a Kia Picanto and had a fantastic experience. The car was super economical on fuel, really easy to drive, and perfect for getting around the city. The rental process was smooth, with excellent customer service. Jay was professional, friendly, and offered a great price. I’ll definitely be renting again from him in the future. Highly recommended!
Great clean and super tidy car, will definitely rent again if I need a car.

Great car to rent for a weekend. Was super clean when I got it and host was really responsive! Would definitely rent again!

Very convenient, easy pickup and drop-off. All details provided. Definitely, will rent for the next trip.

Car was absolutely as described and was ideal for our trip to the 12 Apostles! Thank you Ash. Would recommend
Car was fantastic for a day trip! Easy to drive and comfortable. David was easy to contact and very helpful!

Highly recommend John’s M3. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very very special driving experience, brutal performance, luxurious interior and BMW showmanship. Has everything for a reasonable price Car was in great condition, running Kumhos on the front and cheaper Chinese tires on the back with sufficient tread and grip to have safe fun. John and his team again made the whole process really smooth and convenient. Really handy to have plenty of unlimited street parking nearby to leave your car and swap Thanks again
When you choose Turo, there's no need to linger at the airport car rental counter. Instead, arrange a convenient off-airport pickup location ahead of time, then head straight to your vehicle from the terminal. Easy-to-reach options include airport hotels, parking garages, and local streets. Be sure to have a valid driver's licence or international driving permit ready for a hassle-free handover.
Once you’ve booked your rental car near Canberra Airport, use the Turo app to message your host and confirm the pickup and return details. They’ll let you know exactly where to collect the vehicle and how to access the keys — whether that’s meeting in person or arranging a contactless handover. If the car is parked in a secure garage, your host will also provide instructions for entry and explain where the parking ticket will be left to ensure a smooth departure.
Prefer to pick up your rental vehicle elsewhere? Arrange a collection point somewhere that's convenient for you, such as the Canberra CBD, a public transport hub like the Canberra Railway Station, or a local landmark. Some Turo hosts even offer delivery direct to your door — use the 'Deliver to me' filter to see whether this option is available for your chosen car rental.

Contactless check-in and checkout
Many hosts offer contactless check-in and checkout, if their car has remote access technology, allowing you to find the car, unlock it, and be on your way without meeting them in person. Message your host for specific instructions.

Convenient car rental pickup and return
Rather than hustling at the busy terminal curbside, take your time picking up the rental car at a location near the airport, or get your car delivered straight to your accommodation. Check in, load up your luggage, and get comfortable with the car without a big rush.

Relax with support & damage protection
24/7 support and roadside assistance mean help is just a call away, plus you can choose from a range of protection plans.

Parliament House is one of Canberra's most significant landmarks, offering guided tours, public galleries, and exhibitions that break down how Australian democracy works. The building itself is an architectural drawcard, with pristine lawns and diverse artwork on display. It's centrally located and easy to reach by car, making it a great starting point on your Canberra itinerary.
The Australian War Memorial is both a museum and a place of remembrance, known for its detailed exhibitions and daily Last Post Ceremony. Visitors can see historic aircrafts up close, enjoy interactive galleries, and hear stories from Australia's military history. Don't forget to take in the majestic poppy wall at the Roll of Honour, where people place flowers by the names of Australians lost in battle.
Questacon offers a hands-on science experience, with exhibitions ranging from physics and robotics to space and First Nations history, all interspersed with interactive play zones. It's designed to be immersive and fun, making it a top pick for curious kids and their families. Questacon is conveniently located near other major museums and is easy to include in a day exploring the Parliamentary Zone.
Driving in Canberra is usually hassle-free, but it's worth brushing up on the rules of the road before setting off in your car rental — here's what you need to know.
Turo streamlines the pickup experience so you can skip queues and get on the road sooner. After booking, confirm your pickup location in the Turo app — options may include nearby airport hotels, local streets, or secure parking garages. Once you land, head to the confirmed collection point, access the keys as instructed, and begin your visit.
At the end of your time in Canberra, return the vehicle to the confirmed drop-off location near the airport, unless an alternative return point has been arranged in advance. Canberra Airport is just a 10-minute drive from the city centre. With a rental car from Canberra Airport, you can arrive in Civic (how locals refer to the CBD) quickly via Fairbairn Avenue or Morshead Drive.
As a planned city, driving in Canberra is very straightforward, with wide roads and well-maintained signage. Like the rest of Australia, Canberra adheres to typical road rules, including driving on the left-hand side, obeying speed limits, wearing a seatbelt at all times, and only using your mobile phone on hands-free — hefty penalties apply for touching your device. Canberra has more roundabouts than your average city, so keep alert when entering during peak times by giving way to the right and to any vehicles already in the roundabout.
Speed limits in Canberra generally start at 50 kilometres per hour (km/h) in built-up and residential areas, with 40 km/h applying mainly in school zones and some designated areas. Limits increase to 60–80 km/h on larger roads, and up to 100 km/h on highways.
While traffic in Canberra tends to be better than in the bigger cities like Sydney and Melbourne, roads can still get congested during the usual rush hours, especially along Northbourne Avenue, Parkes Way, and Constitution Avenue. If you're visiting national landmarks like Parliament House, expect traffic delays during events and school holidays.
Parking is generally easy across the city of Canberra. In the CBD, convenient and secure options include the Canberra Centre car park (148 Bunda Street) and the One City Hill car park (London Circuit), both of which offer short- and long-term options. In the Parliamentary Zone, dedicated car parks exist near the National Gallery of Australia, Questacon, and Old Parliament House. As you head into Canberra's suburbs, on-street parking is ample.
There are no toll roads anywhere in Canberra or the ACT, making travel throughout the state simple and cost-effective. If you're considering a trip up to New South Wales, though, there are tolls on the M5 and M8 motorways.
You're never far away from a petrol station or electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Canberra, the home of Australia's federal government. For fuel-based vehicles, stick to major thoroughfares like Northbourne Avenue, Canberra Avenue, and Cooyong Street. Easy central options include the BP at 2 Lonsdale Street in Braddon, and the Shell at 1 Canberra Avenue in Forrest.
EV chargers are easy to access, thanks to the city's commitment to improving its environmental footprint. Locations include the Canberra Centre car park, the RG Casey Building on Sydney Avenue, the National Convention Centre (31 Constitution Avenue), and the Parliament House public car park. The suburbs are also well-equipped, with Chargefox stations in Belconnen, Woden, Gungahlin, and more.
Canberra’s light rail and bus networks connect major suburbs, but having your own rental car makes it easier to explore the region’s rich history and surrounding natural beauty at your own pace. Book a reliable vehicle on Turo and enjoy the freedom to explore Lake Burley Griffin, the Arboretum, Namadgi National Park, and the ACT's many wineries without relying on public transport timetables.
Hiring a car near Canberra Airport gives you access to a broad selection of vehicles tailored to different travel needs. Browse a range of vehicle types, including mid-size sedans, luxury vehicles, full-size SUVs, EVs, and more — whatever kind of visit you're planning, there's a rental car to suit your needs. Zipping around the city centre? Go for the compact MG 4 or the sporty Tesla Model 3. If you need some more space, bigger vehicles like the rugged Mitsubishi Outlander and stocky Toyota Land Cruiser Prado are available to hire from locals on Turo.
When you choose Turo, you'll always receive the same vehicle you booked at checkout, with no last-minute switch-ups or similar vehicles.
The cost of car rental in Canberra can vary depending on car type, booking length, extras, and delivery. For cheap car rental in Canberra, look out for discounts on longer-duration bookings and early bookings.
