Toyota CAMRY 2023

I’ve rented many times off of Sixt and Enterprise etc so was quite skeptical of the competitive price off an independent rental car company. It turned out that not only was the Toyota Camry a good deal but also an extremely smooth process from start to finish, other than the slightly longer process of taking photos of the car upon pick up and drop off Alexander and team were far smoother, and communication was much more instant than with a larger commercial company. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again and plan to do so in the future, thank you so much!

Top tips for renting a car in Bondi

Planning on booking a car rental in Bondi, NSW? From navigating narrow streets and preparing for local weather, here’s what you should know before picking up the keys.

What are the road rules and driving conditions in Bondi?

Bondi and the surrounding Sydney area have a well-connected road network, making it easy to get around by car. Major arterial roads link Bondi to the Sydney CBD and other coastal destinations such as Manly.

Traffic in Bondi can be very heavy, especially during the usual morning and evening rush hours, weekends, and summer holidays. This is especially true around popular areas like Bondi Beach and major roads like Bondi Road and Oxford Street. So plan ahead and give yourself extra time when travelling during peak hours.

When driving in Bondi, note that some streets are one-way, and pedestrian zones near the beach can be crowded. So always watch for people crossing. Speed limits range from 40–50 km/h on streets near built-up areas to 100 km/h on freeways.

Bondi weather is typically pleasant for driving. But being a coastal suburb, it does experience occasional extreme conditions. Summers can bring extreme heatwaves, increasing the risk of engine overheating. Winters are mild, but you might encounter thunderstorms and flash flooding. Remember to drive carefully on rainy days and reduce speed on slippery roads.

What is parking like in Bondi?

Bondi offers a variety of parking options, including metered street parking, paid lots, and private garages, particularly around Campbell Parade and the village area. Street parking can be limited and highly competitive, especially during weekends, summer holidays, and school vacation periods.

Always check signs for time limits, restrictions, or permit requirements to avoid fines, particularly near Bondi Beach, the coastal walk, and popular cafés or restaurants. Planning ahead for parking can make your visit much smoother and help you enjoy everything Bondi has to offer.

Are there toll roads in Bondi?

There are no toll roads in Bondi itself. However, some major roads around Sydney do have tolls, so it’s worth checking your route before you set off.

Are there petrol stations and EV chargers in Bondi?

Use apps like PlugShare or Google Maps to find the nearest gas station or EV charger in Bondi and check their operating hours.

You’ll find plenty of gas stations around Bondi, especially along major roads like Old South Head Road, so you can easily fuel up on your way in or out of town.

Renting an electric vehicle? Chargers are common across the suburb, including at shopping malls, hotels, parking lots, and gas stations.

Do I need to rent a car in Bondi?

It’s best to rent a car while you’re in Bondi. While Sydney has public transport, buses along the eastern suburbs can be limited, and rideshares add up quickly if you want to explore multiple beaches or nearby attractions.

With your own vehicle, you can easily visit Bondi Beach or take a day trip to the Royal National Park or Manly Beach.

Whether you’re looking for a compact car to zip around the city or a mid-size luxury SUV for a more comfortable ride, find the right vehicle on Turo for hassle-free car hire in Bondi.
