Great vehicle and communication

Susan •

Everything was great and Sergei was so kind to let me extend the rental a day. I messed up on extending the rental on time (my mistake for having my card turned off) and he was understanding and graceful. I would definitely rent from him again. Thank you for making my first rental experience great

Great vehicle great host! Smooth easy process! It's awesome!

Sergei was very helpful with delivering the car to airport when airline caused delays changed arrival time. Car was clean and easy to locate. Thank you!

Eleanora •

The car quality was fine & pickup location was manageable. The host was the problem. He was initially helpful when we were messaging on the app & by text message, walked me virtually through the trip to the DMV to get a replacement driver's license card for the cracked one he said was invalid, & was friendly & patient. But in person at the pickup he was very different & I was so creeped out by the time I left (the last time) that I tried, unsuccessfully, to make a formal complaint about him while the trip was still in progress!
I got to the pickup location 4 minutes ahead of schedule, on foot with my walker, having just gotten off the phone with my son & daughter-in-law & my daughter, who were in crisis in Prineville, needing my help -- I told them I would get back to them as soon as I'd picked up the car.
I told Sergei that I needed to get back to my children in crisis as soon as possible, but I wanted to make sure that I could submit interior & exterior photos, which I'd had trouble with on previous Turo rentals, & do things the right way. He helped w/ photos & introduced me to the car, showed me where the parking brake was & the fuel door.
Then he got nervous for no reason that I could see, seemed worried about my walker & how I was going to get it in the back (even though I've done it a hundred times before) and said "I don't want you to scratch my car". He hovered and asked questions about my plans & seemed so odd that I actually asked him if there was something I had said or done that was making him nervous, & he said no, but there was clearly something wrong. He seemed reluctant to hand me the key. At some point he reminded me that I had to release the parking brake before leaving (which of course I knew, being an experienced driver). He grimaced watching me hoist myself into the cab, and said "It's a big car"! I reassured him that I'd driven lots of large vehicles before, including an RV.
His comments, questions & facial expressions added up to the general impression that he didn't trust me to drive and didn't want me to take his car. This is subjective, of course, but feels important because of what happened next.
I told him that I was eager to get back in contact with my children & said that I might park in the shade right across the street to text & make phone calls, & he invited me to stay parked in his driveway to do that. I thanked him & he went back into his house. I was a few sentences into a text to my daughter when he appeared at the driver's window & told me I shouldn't have the engine on when I was parked. "You can't have the car running for hours" he said, although it had been maybe 7 or 8 minutes at the most. I explained that I needed the AC on (it was very hot) & the AC wouldn't run w/o the engine on. But I could see that he didn't want me idling in his driveway (I understand about no-idle zones, a running engine creates fumes) so I left his driveway & drove down the street.
Before I left, he also reminded me (again!) to release the parking brake. I drove two blocks away, to the corner of Calumet and Spring Meadow, then pulled over to the side of the road to finish texting my daughter and prepare to call my son & daughter-in-law, now that I was finally free of the intrusive host.
Sergei FOLLOWED ME DOWN THE STREET ON FOOT AND KNOCKED ON THE CAR WINDOW!!! I opened the door slightly to find out what he wanted, and he pulled the door open farther to look at the parking brake, & said that he wanted to check to make sure that I had released the parking brake! I told him, as patiently as I could manage, that of course I had, because I wouldn't have been able to drive the car at all if I hadn't. Then he started in again about not having the engine running when I was parked. It was bad for the car, he said. He didn't care about the AC. "Car is for driving, not for cooling you" he told me. I held on to my temper & told him "I'll keep it in mind" & I didn't wait for his permission to drive away. I drove to Awbrey Park Elementary School parking lot & found a spot in the shade, & had a shorter conversation than I wanted/needed w/ my son & daughter-in-law, which had consequences. I turned the engine off and sat in the car dripping w/ sweat & overheating, just in case Sergei tried to follow me to the school parking lot to harass me some more!
I was very scared. I was furious. At the very least, his behavior was unprofessional & inappropriate. Maybe it was more than that. I have been harassed before, I have been stalked before, but never by someone I rented a car from. It added a huge amount of stress to my 3-day rental before I even traveled anywhere! Two days later, I was anxious about returning the car because I never wanted to see Sergei again. I tried to make a formal complaint on the app, but there didn't seem to be a way to do that. After drop-off (w/ his son) Sergei texted me *asking me for a 5-star review*!
Angry, never renting from him again & want folks 2 know abt his misbehavior!

Sergei's response

I’m not recommending this customer!!! After getting the car she was idling for 45 minutes on my driveway. I told her that it’s not acceptable. She left and immediately almost hit the other car next to my house. She really doesn’t know how to drive and her driver’s license was broken in half. She stopped again for 30 minutes or so with the engine on. So I had to remind her that she needs to use the vehicle properly!!! Even so, I left her 5 star review and here is what I’ve got in return! Beware!
