The check engine light came on during my first day with the car. The host let me know that unless the car was making any weird noises, it was “probably” ok. I let him know it was making weird noises. I was in the middle of a 6 hour road trip. I luckily got to my destination, but the car broke down a few days later. It was towed away and now I am left with no transportation 6 hours from home. This car should have never been rented. I checked the oil and it was bone dry, there was none in the car. The host tried to issue me a partial refund for the remainder of my trip despite the car being unsafe from the time I picked it up.
This is the least of my worries, but the car was also incredibly dirty and the speakers did not work on one side of the car and made strange noises for all 6 hours of my drive.
Terrible experience, negligent host.
