Capitola captivates visitors with its colorful Venetian-style houses perched along dramatic cliffs and pristine sandy beaches that define California's central coast charm. You'll discover a bohemian seaside village where art galleries blend seamlessly with surf shops and waterfront restaurants. An SUV rental gives you the cargo space for beach gear while providing elevated views of the stunning Pacific coastline. The higher seating position enhances your driving experience along scenic Highway 1, where every curve reveals another breathtaking ocean vista. Your rental SUV handles both city parking in Santa Cruz and adventurous drives to secluded beaches throughout Monterey Peninsula.

Jack made this trip way to easy, he dropped off the vehicle where we were staying, and was super flexible, picking it up early when our plans changed. 10/10 would Turo again with Jack.
If you're looking for a great car at a great deal with the best host Jack and his Tesla Model y is the only way to go.

The car was really comfortable to drive and very spacious, I really have no complaints. And Manuel Alejandro was very communicative, friendly, and attentive the whole time!

Car was great. Two small issues- the driver visor is hard to use because the holder bolt is loose. And the inside air for the a/c button doesn’t work.

The car was great and I would love to rent the car for another trip. Manuel was great and responsive. I recommend.
Capitola offers enchanting attractions from the iconic Capitola Wharf extending into Monterey Bay to the vibrant Capitola Village with its rainbow-colored houses and boutique shopping. You can explore the dramatic coastline at New Brighton State Beach or venture to nearby Santa Cruz for the famous boardwalk and amusement park. Your rental SUV provides the freedom to discover hidden gems like Soquel Creek wineries or take scenic drives through the Santa Cruz Mountains to charming towns like Ben Lomond and Boulder Creek.
The heart of Capitola features whimsical Venetian-style houses painted in brilliant blues, pinks, and yellows that create a postcard-perfect backdrop along the beach. You'll find convenient street parking near the village center, though spaces fill quickly during summer weekends. Your rental SUV provides ample room for art purchases from local galleries and beach supplies for a day by the water.
Capitola Beach stretches beneath towering sandstone cliffs, offering excellent swimming, surfing, and sunbathing opportunities year-round. The historic fishing wharf extends into Monterey Bay, providing spectacular sunset views and fresh seafood dining options. Parking lots near the beach accommodate your rental SUV easily, and the elevated driving position helps you spot available spaces during busy periods.
New Brighton State Beach features dramatic bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean with hiking trails that wind through coastal scrub and eucalyptus groves. The beach offers excellent tide pooling opportunities and camping facilities for extended stays. Your rental SUV handles the park's entrance roads comfortably, and the spacious interior accommodates hiking gear, picnic supplies, and beach equipment for a full day of coastal exploration.
You can reach Capitola by several transportation methods:
• By plane: Fly into Monterey Peninsula Airport or San Jose International Airport, then drive south along scenic coastal highways
• By car: Take Highway 1 south from Santa Cruz or north from Monterey, or approach via Highway 17 from San Jose through the Santa Cruz Mountains
• By train: Amtrak serves nearby San Jose and Salinas stations, requiring an SUV rental for the final portion to Capitola
Book your rental SUV early on Turo during peak summer months when California beach destinations experience high demand from visitors. Choose vehicles with all-wheel drive for confident handling on winding mountain roads leading to Saratoga or Watsonville wine country. Look for rental SUVs equipped with backup cameras for easier parking in crowded beach areas, and consider pet-friendly options if traveling with furry companions to dog-friendly beaches throughout Santa Cruz County.
Rental SUVs provide elevated seating that enhances views of Santa Cruz County's stunning coastal scenery and redwood forests. The spacious cargo area accommodates beach gear, hiking equipment, and shopping finds from local Capitola markets. Higher ground clearance helps navigate steep driveways and hillside parking areas common throughout the Santa Cruz region.
California's coastal highways require steady steering and gradual acceleration, especially around curves near Davenport and Soquel. Rental SUVs benefit from lower speeds on winding routes to maintain stability and passenger comfort. Always engage parking brakes when stopping at scenic overlooks, as many coastal viewpoints feature sloped parking areas.
Climate control systems in rental SUVs effectively manage temperature changes between foggy coastal mornings and sunny afternoons in Capitola. Tinted windows reduce glare during bright California days while driving through Santa Cruz or toward Monterey Peninsula Airport. All-season tires provide reliable traction on both dry highways and occasionally wet roads during winter months.
Rental SUVs excel for trips to Ben Lomond's mountain trails and Boulder Creek's forested areas where parking spaces vary in size. The vehicle category handles routes to Castroville's agricultural areas and Saratoga's hillside attractions with ease. Watsonville's farmers markets and Prunedale's rural roads become more accessible with a rental SUV's versatility and storage capacity.
Families appreciate rental SUVs for their multiple seating configurations and entertainment system capabilities during longer drives around Santa Cruz County. Adventure seekers benefit from roof rack compatibility for surfboards, bikes, and camping gear when exploring California's diverse landscapes. Both groups value the enhanced safety features and commanding road visibility that SUV rentals provide throughout the Capitola area.
Modern rental SUVs include blind spot monitoring systems particularly useful on busy California highways leading to and from Capitola. Electronic stability control helps maintain vehicle control during sudden maneuvers or emergency situations on coastal roads. Backup cameras assist with parking in tight spaces common at Santa Cruz beaches and downtown Capitola shopping areas.
