Thanks Monica for this awesome car rental. She was on time and very communicative

Loved this car. Ride was nice and smooth. Clean on the inside and outside for pick up. Nice and spacious for the size of the car. Great on gas, I had the rental 5 days and only had to put gas in it once, which was to refill for the drop off. Host was accommodating at beginning of the trip with me having to change my pick up time. Easy location and access to get in the car. Will be renting again for a longer trip next time.

2nd great trip with Joe. Easy p/u and return. The car ran fine just like the 1st trip and is great on gas. AC is nice and cold which is a plus in Richmonds 100+ degree summer. Ended up running about 15 min. late on the retun and messaged Joe and he said no problem. If you need basic transportation to pick up groceries, go to Dr. Appointments etc. and want a car thats gets great gas mileage as well as is large enough for 4 people and has enough storage for a Walmart run without any hassles give Joe a shot. I definitely will go 3 for 3 next time I need to rent a vehicle.

Who is monthly car rental in Richmond for?
Just relocated to Richmond
You landed a role at Capital One, Altria, or one of Virginia's state agencies — and you moved before you figured out your commute. A monthly car rental in Richmond lets you drive while you learn the area, test the I-64 corridor versus the Route 288 loop, and decide what kind of car actually fits your new life. Consider a car ownership alternative instead of rushing to a dealership.
Lease just ended — or just sold your car
Your lease wrapped up, you traded in your old car, or the repair bill finally outweighed the value. Instead of rushing to a dealership and signing a loan under pressure, rent a car for a month in Richmond while you take your time. Browse listings, compare what you actually want — from a sedan to an SUV — and skip the depreciation hit of a hasty used-car purchase.
Extended work assignment or traveling professional
Traveling nurses rotating through VCU Health or HCA Virginia, government contractors on six-month projects, and remote workers who chose Richmond for the season all need reliable transportation without a permanent commitment. An extended car rental in Richmond covers a 10-week assignment or a full quarter — and costs less per day than traditional short-term rates.
Post-college or first car
You just graduated from VCU, you're starting your first real job, and your credit history is thin. Dealerships want a cosigner or a steep interest rate. A monthly rental on Turo skips the credit check, the down payment, and the long-term loan entirely. You get a reliable car — a Corolla, a Civic, an Elantra — while you build savings and figure out your next move.
Richmond International Airport (RIC) sits about seven miles southeast of downtown, connected by I-64 and accessible from I-295 and Route 895. If you're arriving for a work assignment, a relocation, or an extended stay, you can book a monthly rental near RIC and have a car waiting when you land. Filter by monthly availability to find listings that fit longer trips.
Short Pump is Richmond's West End commercial hub — home to corporate offices, retail centers, and a growing number of young professionals. If you're commuting to Capital One's West Creek campus or working in the Henrico County business corridor, picking up a car in Short Pump keeps your daily drive short. The area connects easily to I-64 and Route 288 for access across the metro.
The Fan is one of Richmond's most walkable neighborhoods, but the rest of the metro isn't. If you work downtown, at VCU Health, or anywhere outside walking distance, a monthly rental picked up in The Fan gives you daily flexibility without the hassle of finding a permanent parking spot. Keep in mind that residential parking permits are required on many blocks.

Richmond is a mid-size metro with manageable traffic, affordable parking, and a few toll roads worth knowing about before you book a monthly rental.
Filter your search by trip length — listings on Turo get cheaper the longer you book. Trips of 30 days or more unlock the deepest per-day discounts, and many listings also reduce rates at the seven-day and 14-day marks. Book a few weeks ahead for the widest selection, and sort by price to find what fits your budget.
Think about your daily routine first. A fuel-efficient sedan like a Toyota Camry or Honda Civic handles Richmond's commutes well and keeps gas costs low. If you need more space for weekend errands or family, a compact SUV like a Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage gives you room without the fuel penalty. Match the car to how you'll actually use it every day.
Richmond sits at the intersection of I-64 and I-95, so rush-hour traffic clusters around these corridors — especially near downtown interchanges. I-295 loops around the metro and handles suburban commutes. Winter weather is generally mild, but ice storms can shut things down quickly. Mean commute times run about 22 minutes across the metro, according to the US Census.
Downtown Richmond has metered street parking and public garages. If you're living in The Fan or Museum District, you'll need a residential parking permit — check with Henrico or Richmond city. Monthly garage parking downtown runs $75 to $150, which is worth factoring into your overall transportation budget for a longer stay.
Two toll roads serve the Richmond area: the Pocahontas Parkway (Route 895), which connects the airport area to I-95 South, and the Downtown Expressway (Route 195), which links downtown to I-195. Both use electronic tolling — E-ZPass or pay-by-plate. Check whether your rental has a transponder before your first toll road drive.
Gas stations are easy to find across the metro, with competitive prices along major corridors. If you book an electric vehicle, Richmond has a growing network of ChargePoint, Electrify America, and Tesla Supercharger stations — with clusters in Short Pump, downtown, and along I-64 and I-95. Filter for electric vehicles on Turo if you want to skip the pump entirely.
Monthly rentals in Richmond lean practical and affordable. Expect reliable sedans from Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai, fuel-efficient compacts, and family-friendly SUVs from Kia and Hyundai. About 60% of available monthly supply is priced under $800 per month. You can also find pickup trucks, minivans, and electric vehicles — filter by what matters most to your daily life.
Whether you want to rent a car for a month in Richmond or stay for several months, rentals on Turo get cheaper the longer you book. You'll see the total price before you book — no hidden fees, no surprise charges at the end.

It depends on the car, the lease terms, and how long you need it. A typical used-car lease in Richmond locks you into 24 to 36 months with a down payment, monthly payments, mileage caps, and penalties for early termination. A monthly rental on Turo shows you the all-in price upfront — no down payment, no interest charges, no depreciation risk. For stays under a year, the math often favors renting, especially when you factor in ownership costs that average over $12,000 per year nationally, according to AAA.
