Brakes were very squeaky, windshield wipers were not effective in the rain, car seats were stained, car smelled like smoke

The car was not very clean when I received it, and there were many minor scratches around the vehicle prior to pickup. The brakes were also very bad and seem like they need to be replaced. While driving, the check engine light came on, and I immediately notified the owner.
Would I rent this car again? No. However, the owner was very pleasant throughout the experience. Thank you.
