Vancouver’s signature green space spans more than 1,000 acres of coastal rainforest along the harbor’s edge. The seawall path loops around the park’s shoreline, drawing cyclists and pedestrians past totem poles, beaches, and forest trails that feel remarkably remote despite sitting minutes from downtown towers. Inside the park, the Vancouver Aquarium houses Pacific marine life and rescue programs, while Second and Third Beaches offer sandy stretches perfect for summer picnics.
Artists, craftsmen, and food vendors have transformed this former industrial area into one of the city’s liveliest destinations. The Public Market anchors the island with stalls selling everything from fresh seafood to artisan chocolates, while surrounding galleries and studios showcase local craftspeople at work. Street performers and waterfront patios create a relaxed atmosphere along False Creek, and the Granville Island Water Park provides relief on hot days. The compact layout makes wandering easy, and you’ll readily stumble across theater and workshop spaces tucked into renovated warehouses.
Cobblestone streets and Victorian architecture give this historic district its character, though the scene today leans decidedly modern. Boutiques selling Canadian designers sit alongside restaurants experimenting with regional ingredients, all while the famous steam clock still draws crowds on the hour. The neighborhood sits conveniently between downtown’s glass towers and the waterfront spaces at Canada Place, putting you within easy reach of Vancouver’s biggest attractions.

The car was very clean and well-maintained, and the fuel efficiency was excellent. It drove smoothly and made our trip very comfortable. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout the entire rental process. After I returned the car, he even gave me a ride to the train station, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would definitely rent from this host again. Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing host! She was incredibly flexible, understanding, and professional throughout the entire experience. We ended up getting lost during our trip and needed the car for a few extra hours, and she was so kind and accommodating about extending the rental. She made what could have been a stressful situation feel so much easier with her patience and understanding. Communication was excellent, and she was genuinely wonderful to deal with from start to finish. I’m so grateful for how accommodating she was and would absolutely recommend renting from her. An amazing host and a truly great experience!
Excellent host. Very kind and understanding. Car was clean and so gas efficient. Our trip was made so much easier because of this rental. Would definitely rent again!

Amazing host! Everything was perfect from start to finish. The car was spotless, well-maintained, and exactly as described. Pickup and drop-off were quick, easy, and hassle-free. Communication was excellent throughout, and the host was friendly, responsive, and accommodating. The whole rental process was smooth and stress-free. I would definitely rent from them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable vehicle and a great rental experience. Thank you!
The car was so clean and everything was explained so clearly! We had a wonderful trip, thanks to you! 😊 If I ever need to rent a car again, I’ll definitely come back. Thank you so much!
Great experience! The car was comfortable and reliable throughout the trip. Marcos was very responsive, helpful, and easy to communicate with. Would definitely rent from him again. Thank you!

Gigi rentals were excellent to deal with. Convenient location. The car was spotless and in excellent working condition. It was an excellent car for our trip to the Sunshine Coast.
Car was as described including self driving and they accommodated us on switching the pickup and drop off locations from booking. They were about 10 minutes late dropping off the car, but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall very happy and would rent again!

Best car rental experience I have had on Turo or anywhere else! Kevin went above and beyond with clear and responsive communication, excellent customer service as well as having a great Tesla Model 3 which had Full Self Driving which was very impressive during my holiday. Highly recommended!
Timothy is the best and I never want to rent from anyone else. He has given me several rides and I enjoy seeing him every time I visit Vancouver. I know when I rent from him my money is going to a compassionate fun to talk to father with a family. I have rented from him at least 5 times and plan to rent many more times. One time a friend forgot something in the car and he held on to her stuff for me. If I think of anything I should add I plan to edit this or say it next time I'm in Vancouver.

We had an amazing experience renting from Moe! He and his team were incredibly kind, understanding, and accommodating throughout the entire trip. Even when our drop-off location and time changed, Moe was very cooperative and made everything easy and stress-free for us. They never rushed us or made us feel pressured at any point. The car was in excellent condition—very clean, comfortable, and ran perfectly. On top of that, they even gave us a complimentary ride to the airport, which was such a thoughtful gesture and made the end of our trip so much easier. Moe and his team are genuinely good people, and their kindness and hospitality made our experience extra special. I would absolutely rent from them again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable car and an exceptional Turo experience. Thank you so much, Moe! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Car was clean, good condition, and smooth ride for our road trip. KA was also easy to communicate with. We will definitely book with him again in the future!
Daniel was great to work with; pick up and drop off were a breeze. Car was in great condition, we had an excellent trip with the Miata. Do yourself a favour and take this lil miata out with the top down for your next trip.

We had a great experience! Our host gave us very clear and detailed instructions on how to pick up and return the vehicle, and communication was excellent throughout. The car was clean, ran smoothly, and gave us no issues at all. We were extremely satisfied and would definitely rent from him again the next time we visit Vancouver. Thank you so much!

Car was very clean, host was communicative and professional. I took this car to go to Mission for a wedding and it was an absolute dream to drive. I will definitely rent from them again!
Vancouver International Airport in Richmond sees millions of passengers each year, thanks to terminals that connect the Pacific Rim to North America’s West Coast. The airport has a reputation for efficiency, and Turo lets you skip the airport car rental counter altogether. Pickup coordination happens in the app, with vehicles available at designated zones or nearby off-airport locations. The drive into the city takes you across the Fraser River and into Vancouver proper, trading runway views for mountain backdrops.
The city’s business and entertainment district features glass towers rising above historic neighborhoods and waterfront paths. Getting your vehicle downtown means Stanley Park, Granville Island, and Gastown are all within minutes of your pickup point. You can head straight to the seawall for an afternoon ride or grab lunch at one of the Public Market’s food stalls. Visitors also use the central location as a base for day trips up the Sea-to-Sky Highway.
This residential stretch along the water gives you a quieter starting point. It also keeps you close to beaches, parks, and local dining scenes. Your vehicle pickup provides quick access to Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach, plus you’re in the right area for a scenic cruise along Marine Drive. The neighborhoods here blend laid-back coastal living with easy routes into downtown.
Jumping behind the wheel of your own car rental in Vancouver transforms a standard visit into something memorable. The waterfront attractions and neighborhood markets will pull you in naturally, but the real discovery starts when you point your car toward the mountains or along the coastal roads. Provincial parks lie within easy reach, offering forest trails, scenic lookouts, and beaches that many travelers from the US never realize are so close. These tips will help you make the most of your time behind the wheel.
Vancouver’s streets follow a logical and easy-to-navigate layout that will feel familiar to US travelers. Road conditions are manageable year-round due to the temperate climate. Traffic builds during morning and evening commutes, but it rarely reaches gridlock outside of the major bridges and downtown corridors.
Be aware that Canada uses kilometres per hour. Speed limits typically read 50 km/h in neighborhoods and commercial strips, translating to about 30 mph. The speed limit rises to 80–90 km/h, roughly 50–55 mph, on major arteries like Highway 1. Your speedometer likely shows both measurements, so take a moment to familiarize yourself before you set off. Right turns on red are legal after stopping, unless a posted sign says otherwise.
Vancouver sees plenty of wet weather, particularly from October through April, and those drizzly conditions make roads slick. Visibility drops during heavy downpours, so slow down and leave extra space between vehicles. Be prepared for slower traffic if you visit during a winter snowfall.
Downtown parking in Vancouver fills up fast during events, with metered street spots and paid lots as your main options. Rates climb in popular areas like Gastown and near Canada Place, with strictly enforced time limits. Stanley Park charges for lot access during peak times, while Granville Island’s parking gets tight on weekends when the Public Market draws crowds. Many residential neighborhoods use zone parking systems, so read signs carefully to determine if you may park legally.
When the Canucks play at Rogers Arena or concerts come through, downtown parking becomes more difficult. The arena doesn’t have its own public lot, so fans compete for spaces in nearby garages and on the street. Planning ahead and prebooking saves both money and hassle on game nights.
British Columbia keeps its highways toll-free.
Gas stations are common throughout Vancouver and along major corridors. Fuel prices in British Columbia run higher than in most US states, and stations post prices in litres rather than gallons. One gallon equals roughly 3.8 litres. Be aware that heading up mountain highways or out to coastal areas means longer stretches between stations. Fill up before scenic drives out of the city.
Electric vehicle charging is substantial across Metro Vancouver. Tesla Superchargers operate at multiple locations around the city, and Level 2 charging stations pop up in parking lots, shopping areas, and near popular destinations like Stanley Park. Many provincial parks offer charging stations, too. The Electric Highway initiative also makes long-distance EV travel in rural British Columbia more accessible than you’re likely to see in rural America, but range planning still matters.
Downtown Vancouver has a solid public transit system, with buses, the SkyTrain rapid transit, and SeaBus ferries connecting major areas. You can reach many popular spots without a car if you stick to the central neighborhoods.
Your own wheels let you get to major mountain trails, secluded beaches, and scenic lookouts along the coast. Public transit will get you to the base of Grouse Mountain, and you can reach Spanish Banks Beach by bus. Public transport won’t take you to the best viewpoints on Cypress Mountain or Mt. Seymour’s upper reaches. Also, having your own rental provides significantly greater flexibility.

Local vehicle owners in Vancouver list plenty of cars ready for Pacific Northwest adventures. Here are some superb choices for your trip:
Sedans: A Honda Accord or Mazda3 keeps gas costs down while navigating city streets and handling longer drives to Whistler or the ferry terminals without complaint.
Crossovers: A Subaru Crosstrek, Mazda CX-50, or Toyota RAV4 gives you versatility for city parking, cargo space for your gear, and enough ground clearance for trailhead parking lots.
Mountain-ready 4WDs: Vehicles like a Toyota 4Runner or Jeep Wrangler can be helpful for driving on paved mountain roads, steep grades, or in snowy weather. A 4WD adds stability and traction on maintained roads when conditions are less predictable.
Full-size SUVs: A Chevrolet Suburban or Ford Expedition handles group trips and family adventures with room for people, gear, and souvenirs. Extra seating means nobody gets left behind when you’re heading to the mountains or beach.
Luxury SUVs: A Range Rover Sport or Audi Q5 offers heated leather seats and smooth handling for those drizzly Vancouver days when comfort matters as much as capability.
