There's nothing quite like the adventurous spirit of a Toyota LandCruiser. From outback road trips to touring the Top End, a LandCruiser rental is the perfect way to experience the untouched landscapes and rugged roads Australia is known for.
With Turo, you can find the perfect LandCruiser to suit your itinerary. Traverse the road less travelled and tick off bucket-list adventures like the Gibb River Road or Simpson Desert at your own pace.

Looking for a reliable vehicle that makes light work of rugged adventures? Even the harsh Australian landscape can't deter the LandCruiser. Expect a highly capable vehicle hire that can perform even in the most challenging driving conditions, from scorching deserts to remote road trips.
The LandCruiser might tackle tough roads, but the driving experience is far from rugged. Expect a generous cabin with plenty of space for cargo and your whole crew. Expect a refined design and sleek amenities that make even multi-day road trips feel enjoyable and luxurious.
Wherever adventure takes you, expect the LandCruiser to keep up in style. The vehicle's heavy-duty design, bashplate, and bullbar help you stay out of trouble, while the roof racks and bike carrier are built for outback touring.
For a truly unique experience, it’s hard to beat renting a Toyota LandCruiser. The open road is calling, with a car that's at home off the beaten track. Expect an adventure-ready vehicle that makes exploring Australia's diverse terrain thrilling and comfortable.

Unlike a basic all-wheel drive, the Land Cruiser offers serious 4x4 capabilities. If one wheel becomes bogged or stuck, this system forces power to the other wheels with traction to ensure you make it through even the most unpredictable situations. Keep in mind that off-roading is a prohibited use on Turo.
Tackling a steep descent? The LandCruiser keeps you in control with low-range gearing that generates the torque needed for steep roads. This highly capable 4x4 vehicle makes even the roughest terrain feel safe and manageable.
While it might seem simple, ground clearance is key to ensuring you can tackle outback tracks while staying out of trouble. The LandCruiser's high ground clearance means you won't be slowed down by rocks or rugged terrain.

Never driven a LandCruiser before? Here's a snapshot of what to expect:
- Get familiar with the turning radius, braking distance and overall size of the LandCruiser before heading into heavy traffic areas
- Use the LandCruiser's traction system to handle technical terrain and avoid sudden acceleration
- Plan your fuel stops as the LandCruiser can guzzle fuel, especially when towing large loads

To rent a car on Turo in Australia, you must create a Turo account, have a valid driver’s license, get approved to drive on Turo, and be 21 years old or older.
When you’re booking your first trip, you’ll go through a quick approval process by entering your driver’s license and some other information. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately, and you’ll be set for all future road trips, day trips, and business trips!
You must have a valid, full, active, permanent licence to book a car in Australia. A valid licence is one that’s not expired, suspended, or revoked.
If you have a licence issued by a country outside of Australia, Turo requires you to have a valid permanent licence issued by your home country. If your licence is not written in English, you must also have an International Driving Permit or an official English translation of your licence.
The minimum age to rent a vehicle on Turo in Australia is 21 years of age, with all drivers under 25 years old being subjected to an extra charge of $15/day (a.k.a the Young Driver Surcharge). Plus, if you're looking to hire certain vehicle classes, you must be 25 or older to book a Deluxe Class vehicle, and 30 or older to book a Super Deluxe Class vehicle.
You don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.
When signing the rental agreement, you’ll choose between the Premier (if available), Standard, and Minimum protection plans. Each plan includes varying limits on financial responsibility for damage to a host’s vehicle. All trips include up to $20,000,000 (per event) in legal liability protection. Legal liability protection protects against damage to other people’s property and death or bodily injury (where the legal liability is not covered or capable of being covered by any statutory or compulsory scheme) as a result of an accident involving the vehicle. All protection is provided by Turo Travels Mutual.*
You can get discounts and pay less money for car hire on Turo.
On your Account page, make sure you’ve checked the box to receive email notifications, and enable push notifications from the Turo app in your phone settings — we’ll send you occasional promo codes, discounts, and deals.
Yes, there is — whether you want to rent a car for three days, three months, or even longer, you can on Turo. You’ll find discounted prices on bookings lasting 3+, 7+, or 30+ days, so you can get the best deals and lowest rates possible by booking longer trips.
Some hosts offer unlimited distance for a trip; others set a daily distance limit — you’ll need to check on each rental car individually to see if this service is provided. On the vehicle pages, you’ll see the total miles or kilometres you’re allowed to drive under the heading “Distance included.” You can find cars offering unlimited mileage with every trip by using the “Unlimited distance” filter.
Yes, multiple guests can drive the car you rent on Turo, as long as they are all approved to drive. The primary driver (whoever rented the car) can add additional drivers with no fees or additional charges. Only the primary driver can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add additional drivers before your trip starts, though guests can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress.
To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.
On Turo, you can't rent a car on your Ps in Australia. To hire a car on Turo, you must have a valid full license - no provisional or conditional licenses are accepted.
* Any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland, but this protects your own wallet. Liability insurance is provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company. Terms, conditions, and exclusions apply. The policy does not provide coverage for damage to a host’s vehicle.
For questions or information about the third party liability insurance that is included in protection plans in the US, consumers in Maryland and the licensed states listed here may contact Turo Insurance Agency at (415) 508-0283 or claims@turo.agency. For questions about how damage to a host’s vehicle is handled, visit the Turo Support site.
When a trip is booked in the state of Washington, physical damage to the host’s vehicle is covered by insurance purchased by Turo, but the Turo insurance does not change the contractual responsibilities of hosts or guests with respect to physical damage to a host’s vehicle.
